Help Paizo Reclaim the Gauntlet!

Thursday, May 5, 2016

Two years ago, the brave forces of Paizo took the field of battle, fighting off skilled foes sent by other game companies from around Seattle to claim the Gauntlet, a fabled prize of glory and power. When the dust settled, we were victorious. The Gauntlet was ours!

But such triumphs were not made to last...

Last year, we once again took the field, raising money for charity, fending off an even greater field of contenders. It was a day of hard fought battles and although we fought valiantly, we were defeated. The team from the Removed From Play podcast had cast us down into ruin. They took the Gauntlet from us.

Now, the time has come once again. We go to do battle in less that two weeks and we need your help to once again battle for the Gauntlet. You can help by donating to the Gauntlet charity in the name of Paizo (or by selecting one of the individual team members). The more money we raise, the more "power ups" we will get during the event to help us win! A lot of the other teams have gotten a bit of a head start on us this year, but we are confident you will help to see us through. The team for this year has seen some changes as well, adding fresh blood to our stable of champions. While Erik Mona and I will be returning, we are happy to add Katina Davis (Customer Service Representative) and Jason Keely (Editor) to the Gauntlet team.

Go and, select a team member and donate today! Every little bit helps and it all goes to support YouthCare, a great charity that helps homeless kids!

Last year, we promised a short dungeon adventure as a reward for helping us with the tournament and we have not forgotten about this commitment. Although our responsibilities at Paizo have delayed us, I am happy to announce that the adventure is currently going through editing and will be available for FREE in just a few weeks. Take a look at the awesome map for this exciting adventure!

We look forward to fighting for the Gauntlet and thank you for helping us out!

Thanks in advance for folks helping our team raise funds this year! I'm very excited about the cool dungeon we put together for last year's effort, and having played this year's games I'm really looking forward to Paizo doing very well in this year's tournament.

If you backed my efforts last year, I still owe you some "thank you" swag, which I'll be sending out shortly. Expect to hear from me soon to confirm shipping details. Thanks for your patience, as this process has taken a lot longer than I anticipated last year. But your stuff is coming soon!

Okayyyy...and what exactly do we (aka the consumers) get out of this for our donations?

The satisfaction of helping those in need?

No, seriously, it's a good cause, I can kick 'em a little cash.

Apparently your definition of "those in need" differs greatly from mine. ~_~

Yeah, see, I work 69 hours a week on 3 part time jobs at minimum wage and it's hard enough for me to get hardcovers of the books Paizo sells let alone get their PDF's. Now Paizo wants donations to win some "title" without giving us consumers anything in return? Yeah, I'm gonna opt out immediately.

Why are you looking for compensation for a donation?

Because I work very hard for what little money I get in return for my jobs and am in no position to make a donation without getting something in return for giving my precious money away (which can go to other things such as food, rent, gas, car insurance payments, etc etc).

I think the team needs to upload a logo. Show some golem pride!

Well, that escalated quickly.

Speaking of escalation... from my observation, your original victory actually seemed to hinge on the success of your campaign for violence the first year. If you are truly seeking victory again this year after last year's defeat, who is getting punched by the gauntlet if you reclaim the glory? :)

Removed some posts and their responses. Folks, take a step back please and be civil. This is for charity, and you are not required to donate, nor are we expecting you to do so at the risk of your personal budget. If you can donate, thank you, and I know YouthCare will appreciate the assistance they get. If you cannot, that's fine too. Dogpiling on folks for their reasoning to support a charity doesn't help.

The adventure is in editing right now. It fell behind Curse of the Crimson Throne, which went to press last Friday, so it's making its way to the top of the pile. I've got a meeting about it later this afternoon to kick it up a few notches.

Any new details on this please?

So has this been put on the back burner or dropped?
