Gen Con 2014 PRD Update!

Friday, August 15, 2014

With the release of the new Iron Gods Adventure Path, we figured it would be a really cool idea to put the tools you need from the Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Technology Guide up on the Pathfinder Reference Document. Now that the books are in the hands of many gamers at home and at Gen Con, you can get started on planning your campaign by checking out the latest update to the PRD right now! While you're there, you may also notice that you can now access the content from the Bestiary 4. There are also some visual changes to help improve the experience for many who access the PRD from mobile devices like iPads, Android tablets, and various phones.

Be sure to check it out and leave your feedback in our reporting thread if you have any comments. The Paizo Skeleton Crew back here in Redmond hope you're having an amazing time at Gen Con!

Fantastic changes. It's so much easier to use it on my smartphone. Great job, Robots with Lazors!

Really annoyed that The tech guide was put on the prd 1 day after it was released, I could have saved my $10.

The new prd does look awesome!

I think I just exploded at my desk with sheer happiness and joy! Thank you!

Oh those indexes are amazing, or to use an Oxford English dictionary word, "amazeballs." This is great, thanks!

Not on the PRD, but from here on down on the blog, everything is showing up as italic for me.

Nice!

How do I "like" a blog post again...? ;-)

What the heck is everybody so happy about? I just went to the PRD site and found nothing but an introduction, with no links to anywhere else. From my browser, there appears to be literally nothing of consequence there.

David, there should be a reddish brown sidebar on the left, or accessible at the top of the screen via button if you are on a mobile device.

Shiny! Thanks Chris and team!

Looks much nicer, but I will miss having the list format in the middle of the page for those times when I knew exactly what section I wanted. I'm sure it will be better on my tablet.

Huh. KQ7 is in the Section 15 now. Wonder when that happened. And what product it was from.

I am on a laptop computer using Internet Explorer 8. The sidebar appears and then disappears within a fraction of a second -- I missed the "flash" the first few times I tried it. But that sidebar is not sticking around long enough for me to get a good look at it, let alone actually use it.

Thanks, 'tis awesome!

Still doesn't work properly and is not intuitive. I'm on a Samsung so and can't get access tables on right hand on old stuff such as the sorcerer and bard. Fix this please or people will turn to d20pfsrd.com.

Hadn't even noticed the index. That's nice!

I'll be honest. I liked the old way better.

But then I miss my old 3277 green screen.

I see the same thing, FWIW. The class tables aren't scaling to match screen size, so that the right-hand portions are off the edge of the screen and unviewable. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, and am using Chrome to view the site.

The rest of the pages seem fine -- it's just tables don't scale. I can rotate the device to landscape, and see a bit more, but the whole table still isn't viewable.

Yep, I think I have a fix in mind for that particular problem. If you run into any other problems, please post them in the reporting thread. It's just a bit easier to keep track of :)

Awesome job! BIG improvement.

Side note, to those using IE, please at least TRY Firefox and/or Chrome. Do the world a favor :)

Ouch... my eyes. Both on laptop and tablet. A bit darker background was looking better to me :/

I said it in the other thread, and I'll say it here too: That I can't find relevant FAQs on this website, when FAQs are being used by the design team as patchwork errata is unacceptable. If they were just rules clarification it would be one thing. But as seen with things like Paragon surge, FAQs are being used to change how abilities work before a book receives a new edition and errata.

FAQs need to be on the site for it to be presenting accurate information and fulfill the job of a reference document.

Yeah, I was also a fan of the darker background. It's a bit hard on my eyes, too, especially when red is other color being used.

The Index has been there since long before this update, so I don't know what you're yelling about.

It is quite nice, though.

Too bright and too white on my PC.

Bestiary 4 link to soulsilver is broken. (maybe the soulsilver page is missing/restricted)

You say you don't understand and then say exactly what you said you didn't understand.

Uh. I intended that broken link report to be made on New PRD thread... How did it ended here?

I was thinking that you were TOZ was exclaiming about it's presence, not it's quality.

He- er, we, uh, I had never noticed it before.

A Wasted Effort

Yes, colors have changed and the menus are nice but you still have disabled Pinch to Zoom on iPads. What's the use of all the changes you can't read it!

Oh man, this is freaking awesome! Really like the new format.

Responsiveness on my iPhone is also way better.

Cheers!
