Monstrous!

Heh , finally :D.

Yesh!

Huh, wyvarans are getting a place in the game it looks like. No longer just an example race.

My master has returned!

Spoiler:
Why should I tell you who they are! Go look for yourself in the posted spoiler.

Dark Archive

whats a swam-maiden?

Time Dragon...?

Maybe a dragon who devours time? That sounds...familiar.

I noticed that the Colossi are from the ELH, but vastly different.

I take it all of the outer dragons have starflight. I hope some of them can reach lightspeed with their flight.

Shadow Lodge

Archaeopteryx (familiar) - Awesome!
Astral leviathan - Ooh, this sounds fun...
Clockwork dragon - Nice.
Nightmare creature - I hope this is a template. It sounds like one.
Pazuzu (demon lord) - 0.o I have a character that makes Pazuzu intrigue me.
Tuatara (familiar) - This is just the best part of the book.

Well it appears at least two that I wished for made it in.

spoiler:
Though I wonder which pooka made it in, the old Irish myth or the Hollywood version.

As well as the death dog..could be the Black Dog, Moddey Dhoo, or Cu Sith?

Wait , you mean to tell me that the pipefox is not a familiar?

EDIT: i mean with the improved familiar ofc :P.

...If we say Hastur's name three times, will B4 be released sooner?

Shadow Lodge

Are Dark Callers and Dark Dancers new Dark Folk?

If so this wait is getting unbearable.

I think the "(familiar)" tag indicates ordinary animals that you can take without Improved Familiar - It's an explanation of where it is alphabetized, not a rule element.

Okay...

This Bestiary is going to be awesome!

Personally, I'm happy Paizo did NOT include the Dimensional Shamblers or anything about Shub-Niggurath. I like holding my Mythos monster stats close when running with another DM, and am glad these are privy to people who got Wake of the Watcher only. Purely selfish reason to be sure, but I feel that monsters like that are best relegated to dusty, obscure tomes (or APs that not everyone has).

Awesome list!

Curious about the Svartalfar, and how they would be different from the drow, since the name means "black elf".

I like a lot of what I see in this table of contents. But one line in the blog concerns me:

I hope this won't be the last big book of beasties.

Wow, nice list.

Man I'm really digging this list. A lot of what I wanted is there. Freaking stoked!! A little sad to see no Hupia/Opia, but hey, I already statted it up so it's fine :D

Until we've announced a new product, it's generally safest not to promise we'll do one, as we generate way less rage when we say, "surprise! A new bestiary!" than we do when we say, "I know we said we'd do another bestiary but we were joking."

Oh man I just noticed, Catrina is in there as a psychopomp. As in La Calavera Catrina. I'm pretty stoked for this, as I was actually statting up the Calaca for my Caribbean game as a psychopomp. Now I'm really psyched!

Nightmare creature, fleshwarps (?), mummified creature, blood hag, clockwork mage, gearghost, void dragon, zombie lord, necrocraft, mindslaver mold, rat king, shredskin, Great Old Ones and Demon Lords... this sounds like a really interesting array of creatures and templates! :)

That is true. I didn't take that into account.

Tuatara! Got to love three-eyed lizards from New Zealand! This just tops an amazing list. :D

OMG! The living wall is returning from 2nd edition!? ermygirglyspplooch

In all my roleplaying days, I've never come across anything more horrifying. I am ecstatic to see it returning. I hope it's as terrifyingly powerful as it was before (being mythic would be a good start).

This thing is so good of Mythos... er, I mean Dark Tapestry goodness, I MUST own it!

A great bonus is the Tooth Fairy... that just gives me shivers and makes me not want to go to sleep! (Why am I picturing telling all the players they wake up in the morning and all their teeth are gone, but on the plus side, there is 1 CP under each of their pillows?)

fleshwarps (?)

The fleshwarps are from the Bestiaries of the Second Darkness AP.

Darn no Cheshire cat, Nekomata, or Bakeneko.

It is a shame that the Shirk nettle, Medusa head, flaming skull, Raiju, Dweomer cat, Calathgar, or Buraq didn't make it in. But we did get Haniver Gremlin, Peluda, Ankou, Zomok, Werebat, Werecrocodile, wereshark, etc.

Living wall, haven't seen this one is a long time.

Giant Weasel and Dire Weasel!

Ah, that explains it. Second Darkness and CoCT are the only APs I haven't bought, and that is because a fellow GM wants to run them for my group.

I can see Hyakume and Argus being best friends. :)

Liberty's Edge

I about did the Curly Shuffle when I saw Spring Heeled Jack. I cannot wait to see what it does and how it looks.

I'm really happy to see how many American folktales (Pre-Columbian and Colonial) made it into this Bestiary. I still have plenty more, but that'll be for the Bestiary 5 :)

Seriously though, dem psychopomps and undead

Holy crap. I just looked up what a Haniver is.

Colour Out of Space
Kitsune
Mi-Go

I was sold on this book just hearing that the Colour Out of Space and Mi-Go were getting reprinted. But new kitsune artwork AND we get a rat king monster? Plus reprinted Star-Spawn AND an all-new spawn of Yog-Sothoth AND Hastur is being stated up?! Yes, this book is going to be awesome.

The ONLY way I would have possibly loved this book more is if the nogitsune was reprinted from Jade Regent. I don't like buying Adventure Path volumes I don't plan on ever running just for a few monsters, but I suppose there's always Bestiary 5!

And yeah, if you write Bestiary 5. Sure, like I'm buying that! As long as Wes is Editor in Chief, we all know that the Bestiaries will flow like tears from the eyes of players whose PCs are sacrificed to Great Cthulhu.

So the outer dragons are not what i thought they would be, a but disappointed right now. I still like my idea of liovecraftian themed dragons,

The Exchange

Wait, a platypus familiar? lol.

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

New kytons! YES! I think this finally makes enough kyton variety that they can now be the main antagonists of an AP, so... someone make that happen?

Gearghost just sounds awesome, even with no idea what it does.

Lorelai and pooka. About time those two made it into the game.

And...

Trumpeter swan 257
His name is Louis.

We almost did... but then remembered that Dimensional Shamblers are one of the monsters we didn't secure open content permissions to do from Chaosium.

It's a similar creature, but it's NOT the D&D version. That version isn't open content. The concept of an animated/living wall isn't against the rules, though; this one is very different in execution.

Is it as horrific? Is it made of flesh and bones? Or, God forbid, this?

I mean, last week I was talking over with one of my players that his Skulls'n'Shackles Sea Reaver Barbarian could try and go for a Mammoth Lord, except instead of a Mammoth he would be riding a giant seahorse.

The player told me "Yeah, but I bet there ain't no stats for Giant Seahorses in Pathfinder".

Tee hee.

There kinda like nymphs that have swan skins that they use to transform into a swan and will marry a person if they can successfully steal said skin from them, iirc.
