Are the Paizo polos blue or purplish-blue or blueish-purple?

My vote is for Blueish-Purple.

Scarab Sages

My vote is just Blue (based on the pictures posted). They could look different in person though...

Asking posters here to settle an argument? Are you mad?

There is a picture posted???

Ack! The picture didn't come through! Silly phone! I've asked Christopher to wave his magic wand and see if he can add it.

And no we aren't mad, just undecided :)

I really don't think this will clear it up. We tend to disagree on the colour of the sky, let alone anything of real debatable merit. :-)

Still...I vote for purplish-blue.

Grand Lodge

Just blue. I may change my vote when my wife gets home and I can see them in person.

Blue, with the teensiest hint of purple tinge. It's like Julius Ceasar from Rome. You want it to LOOK purple without actually BEING purple.

Fabulous.

They're obviously tangerine.

I wasn't there but my vote is just Blue based on the pictures. They were probably taken under fluorescent lights though, so they tend to give a bluish tint to pictures.

Not purple. Violet.

Wikipedia:
"According to surveys in Europe and the United States, violet is the color most commonly associated with the extravagant, the individualist, ambiguity, the unconventional, and the artificial."

Interesting. I prefer the spelling violent, myself.

I suggest you handle it like the the Green vs Purple problem in Babylon5.

Who'll take the role of Ivanova then?

I thought more along the lines of Sara, Crystal or Lissa... Haven't thought about going straight to the top.

Does that mean that Vic is Sinclair? Or is he Sheridan?

Personally I get more of a Sinclair vibe... Probably.

Liberty's Edge

Violet?

Edit: Actually, looking at the pictures those look straight-up blue.

I see no trace of purple on the pictured Paizo polo shirts either.

They look very blue to me, and did at PaizoCon, too. Then again, I've had these color fights before and been voted down.

I want to know who Zathras is?

Cosmo. 8^)

Not enough information. Without knowing what Cosmo thinks, I can't adopt the contrary position.

I'm color blind.
Blue.
;)

I'd say Best Buy Blue ;)

Dark Archive

Royal Blue. Or maybe Awesome Blue (tm).

Archer would call it a slightly blue-er shade of blue.

I want to know who Zathras is?

Spoiler:
Zathras: But not having enough power to reach far places! Yes, Zathras understand. Everyone always coming to Zathras with problems. Big responsibility but Zathras does not mind. Zathras trained in crisis management.

Cmdr. Susan Ivanova: That's great, but--
Zathras: But only Zathras have no one to talk to. No one manages poor Zathras, you see. So Zathras talks to dirt. Or to walls, or talks to ceilings. But dirt is closer. Dirt is used to everyone walking on it. Just like Zathras. But we have come to like it. It is our role. It is our destiny in the universe. So, you see, sometimes dirt has insects in it. And Zathras likes insects. Not so good for conversation, but much protein for diet. Hmmm, huh, huh, very good! - Zathras fix now. Come, this way.

Does not sound like Cosmo is supposed to sound.

in person i thought they looked purpleish blue, but the photos they sure look straight blue.

Dark Archive

The photos look blue to me. They might look different in-person, though.

It's hard to tell without even white lighting and having the cloth be flat so their isn't a variation in tones when looking at it. I suppose if I was to really try on this I would pull up a good picture of the shirts in Photoshop and analyze how the color is showing up, but I think I will just eyeball it. I would say it's more "blue" than "purple" even though those generally encompass a very broad range of colors in our vocabulary, even sometimes being considered in ranges they shouldn't belong in, and even though both of them are pretty close together color circles, and even though humanity has never really nailed down a definitive standard what each color really is.

Pulling up a handy electronic color wheel I have for when I mix paint it seems it's closest to being, err, well out of thousands of named colors in it it seems you picked a range for your shirts where there is a gap in any named colors from the program I‘m using, and it's coming up just dark blue. Still it's both lighter than what I would call purple and less shaded towards magenta than what I would consider violet and more towards blue.

My best guess is it's a deeply saturated hue about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way from blue to magenta that might be slightly shaded. If forced to choose I would say it’s “purple blue”

Plain old royal blue to my eyes.

Cobalt blue.

I would vote for "Blue that only appears Purple to Gill-Men".

according to the photograph, the back of the girl's shirt in the foreground runs from RGB (55,83,253) to (10,14,103). So overwhelmingly blue at 470nm. Green is running about 150% more than red, but well below the level of blue.

Sovereign Court

Compared to our volunteer shirts they are definitely blue.

How many times have they been washed? Oh wait, you're stinky goblins. What's washing?

Looks like they start out Blue.

Blue - but they *should* be Purple :)

They look blue to me!

now that theres a picture:) i vote for blue:)

According to the photos that have been posted, my answer is: blue!

Paizo Employee Director of Marketing

Based on the photo, I'm going to vote primarily blue. Possibly blue with 10% or less of a purple tinge.

I work in the color business (yes, there is such a thing), and let me tell you I have a horrible eye for color.

That said...the Paizo Golem is a type of purple, those shirts are a type of blue.

What RGB values are you using for your branding in print and web media? Pantone codes?
SCOTDIC color codes?

There's a more objective way to resolve this: measure the wavelengths of reflected light under standard conditions. I mean, if you're going to geek out to the extent of debating Paizo T-shirt colors, you might as well geek out all the way.

In person, they appear on the purple end of blue to me, but in the photos they appear to be blue.

Either way, I'd like to be able to wear one. ;-)

If they're confusingly in-between blue and purple, shouldn't that pretty much put them in the 'indigo' category?
