Probably is an effort to get more public use of Georgia Street. The city did a great job turning it into a public hangout during the Superbowl Village. They've recently been scheduling events a few times a month there to bring crowds back.
Yeah it was a weird but enjoyable feeling having a fairly large outdoor street space where pedestrians could just hang and walk as needed in a big city. Plus, the food trucks were pretty darn good.
It was great that the majority did take cards, though. I purposely was light on cash for the event as buying swag was not in my budget (much to my dismay).
There have normally been a few trucks near the con. Last year I had some really awesome tacos from a food truck.
Glad to see that they are becoming a bigger presence.
West Coast Tacos was in the area last year with some Korean BBQ tacos. I did not see them in the area this year, which made me sad. However, it also gave me the chance to sample a couple more great food trucks in town. The Italian was very good (Taste of Eataly?).
Food trucks can be amazing! I was at a work related conference in Boston (great city by the way) and I ate at food trucks every day and had good experiences all around - and it was cheap!
They were awesome! Tasty, fairly cheap (much cheaper than the other restaurants around), and fast. I really hope GenCon keeps the food trucks coming back around.
