The Beginner Box Bash!

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Looking for a chance to check out the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Beginner Box and celebrate the biggest Pathfinder RPG release since the Core Rulebook? Then you’ll want to head to your local game store for the Beginner Box Bash!

Venture-Captains across the world are organizing gaming days on October 29th and 30th to bring together Pathfinder players, debut the Beginner Box, teach new gamers how to play, and introduce players new and old to the Pathfinder Society Organized Play Program. The day’s events include four new, one-hour quests highlighting the Beginner Box characters and rules. Special Beginner Box Bash punch cards allow players to keep track of their adventures and learn more about the Pathfinder RPG and Pathfinder Society. Those who complete all four adventures will receive a special reward: a Pathfinder Society Chronicle sheet to welcome them into the Pathfinder Society (or to enhance any existing Pathfinder Society character).

Ready to find out where and on what day the Beginner Box Bash is happening in your area? Just check for your region on our Beginner Bash page for all the locations currently signed up. This list is still expanding, so be sure to check back for updates as we get closer to the weekend of the 29th. Additionally, if you’re a game store owner, or want to get your local game store involved in the Beginner Box Bash, there’s still time! Please contact your regional Venture-Captain for details.

As always, we couldn’t pull off such an exciting event without the help of all of our amazing Pathfinder Society Game Masters. We know our Game Masters’ time is valuable, and we want to thank them in advance for all their effort. To show our appreciation, all Game Masters who run four events during the Beginner Box Bash can expect their own special Pathfinder Society Chronicle sheet. If you’re a Pathfinder Society Game Master interested in running games at your local Beginner Box Bash, please contact your local Venture Captain for details.

Thanks to everyone for all their enthusiasm and support for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Beginner Box, and we’ll see you at the Beginner Box Bash on October 29th and 30th!

The four, one-hour demo adventures, as well as instruction page, are currently in editing. These will be made available to organizers sometime early next week.

Fixed. Chris (and many others) have been pulling long hours to get this information to you, typos were inevitable...

When I receive more applications, I will be able to answer that question.

I'm looking forward to GMing this at the end of October. I'm hoping this will be a bunch of fun.

The burning question is:

Will these four new, one-hour quests be made available to the masses somewhere down the line? *nudge nudge, wink wink*

Are we giving new players chronicle sheets for participating?

I expect so.

Obviously not PFS related, but I'm going to reach out to Packrat comics in Hilliard and see if they have free space for me to run something.

Ouch. I wish I'd known that was the plan. I would've liked to help out. I haven't heard anything in the gaming void of CT.

Matthew, I might be able to get you the delves if you want to run a Bash at your local store (if Art Lobdell doesn't respond).

No. The delves do not earn credit for PFS characters.

I would love to, but unfortunately it's a little to late for me to do anything that weekend.

I have been meaning to look you up, though, for other reasons. I'll give you a shout out through less forum-means...

I've gone in and fixed this URL. Apologies for my typos!

I've also added some additional stores to this list for Georgia, Illinois and the start time for Denmark is now up. I'll try to keep on top of this thread in case anything else crops up :)

Aw, no Bash locations in the Cleveland, OH area. :/

I am looking for a Venture-Captain in Philadelphia.

Well I live in Allentown which is within commuting distance to Philly and I do organize some PFS in the area here. I have some serious doubts about the time commitment. I am already accused of overbooking myself on a fairly regular basis.

I'm going to check with DTwenty Games here in Seattle (Normandy Park, actually), to see if they way to be in on this. Based on their asking for me to start PFS play, I imagine they might be all over this.
Hopefully Amazon will get off their butts and send me my copy before December 7th like they are predicting.

Pardon my asking, but why not get it from DTwenty Games?

Failing the idea that you would be willing to purchase it from them: all of my distributors were offering me a "buy 5, get one free" deal. If they took it, they should have one for in-store use. You should ask them about that.

Michael, I couldn't get your e-mail link to work. We're interested in taking part at Crazy Squirrel Game Store. Our regional Venture Captains are actually in San Francisco -- that's 2 to 3 hours from here, so we rely on a great co-ordinator who isn't actually a Venture Captain.

How do we get involved? Also, is there a retailer e-mail/group to help us get this news as soon as possible?

I emailed my Venture-Captain two days ago, with no response (I'm hoping he is just dealing with many emails, and not just ignoring me :) ). I was looking for info to give to my local game store to get them involved, or maybe getting the materials to use in a home-play situation for my gaming group. Any help/info?
Thanks!

I think the biggest problem I am going to have when running this, is remembering what rules the Beginner Box doesn't have!

Cheliax Owner - Enchanted Grounds

So, I have a sign up list with 20 names on it. I have a staff of 9 people pointing anyone who asks in the direction of the event we are having on Sunday. I've announced it on Facebook and the Pathfinder Society boards in Denver. I have 5 GMs lined up to run adventures for 4 hours on Sunday afternoon. I have 25 copies of the Beginner Box in the store, ready to sell. I have prizes ready to go, including minis and raffle tickets.

What don't I have? Modules. Because of that, I have GMs that are starting to freak out on me. I'm one of them. Any word on when these will be available?

We are busy at work getting this ready. I would expect that you'll have access to what you need later today.

Liz, I sent him another reminder late last night to send this to me. I know it is still early there, But I am a little uncomfortable I have not gotten access to it yet.

I am hoping to get this in the next few hours so I can get my GMs preped for it.

Thanks for your help.

Mike, sorry to ask, but what's your contact email?

I'm a blogger/filmmaker from Toronto, and had contacted James Jacobs about the possibility of my independent studio filming the 'Beginner Box Bash' here in Toronto, which could later be used as a promotional video/tool for Pathfinder.

Similar to my current ongoing web-series for WotC.

Please, if you could get back to me asap, I would appreciate it.

My contact information can be reached through my blog here: Dungeons & Donuts
