Gen Con Pathfinder Cosplay Contest Voting!

Friday, August 12th, 2011

It’s that time again! Though I failed in my sacred duty to announce the Annual Gen Con Pathfinder Cosplay Contest well ahead of time, we still had a number of unbelievably strong contenders this year, and it would be a shame not to crown one of them as the winner—a title which, in addition to bragging rights, confers $50 in paizo.com store credit. So let’s get voting!

Here’s how it works: Presented below are the photographs (and names, where possible) of this year’s contestants. In the comments thread for this blog, you can pick the ONE winner who you think has the most awesome Pathfinder-related costume and shout out your vote. You have until next Thursday at noon to get in your choices, after which we’ll announce the winner.

Your options are:

Jessica as a Gray Maiden

Leslie as Seoni

Jean-Marc as a paladin of Sarenrae and Luc as a paladin of Iomedae

Eric as our Iconic Alchemist

Bonnie as our Iconic Witch (and Corey as kilted barbarian)

Nani as a Harrower

Natalie (with the metal plates), Nicole the alchemist, Amy the ranger, Megan the pregnant sorcerer, Mike the cleric.

Jessica as the Grey Maiden. I actually couldn't decide between her and Bonnie as Feiya, so I rolled a die. Great costumes all around though.

Taldor

Jessica's Gray Maiden is superb! But kudos to all the costumed revelers. You look great!

My vote goes to Jessica and her Gray Maiden cosplay!

I haven't even read or played Curse of Crimson Throne (and I typically vote for an underdog), but I have to vote for Jessica's Grey Maiden.

Nani did a bang-up job as the Harrower though!

Cheliax

Grey Maiden! :)

It's a tough choice since the costumes all look great. Jessica as the Grey Maiden edges everyone else out, though.

Bonnie :)

I vote for Bonnie the iconic witch.

Cheliax

witch, I vote witch

My vote goes to the Pathfinder Adventuring Company.

The witch costume seems the most accurate, so I have to vote for Bonnie.

Voting for Bonnie! Look at the nails, man!

It's hard to pick one but I got to go with Jessica.

The Gray Maiden gets my vote!

Jessica as a Grey Maiden for me also. Well done.

Voting for Bonnie the Witch. Jessica is close second as Grey Maiden.

I vote for Bonnie as the iconic witch.

Awesome all the way around, but I will have to vote for Jessica.

1 vote for Bonnie the Iconic Witch!

Despite my partiality for alchemists (and the fact that the alchemist, while having Damiel's ears, seems to have picked up Norret's cane and duster), I'm also going to vote for Bonnie as the witch. Really intricate reconstruction there.

A lot of great costumes there, but if I have to pick one my vote goes to Jessica as a Gray Maiden.

Cheliax

The Gray Maiden has my vote :)

Bonnie Has the Best Costume! I vote for her. :)

I'm voting for Bonnie as well, but don't know if I can since I helped build the costume.

I hate that her pic is blurry so I've included links to clearer ones if that's okay...

It's an honor to be part of the contest, and it was great to meet the artist Wayne Reynolds at Gencon (and have him sign the costume). We'll see you next year.

I wish they could all win, but I think

Jessica as a Grey Maiden takes the prize. Spot. On.

Bonnie, hands down one witchy woman

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If thee Mrs. Sean K Reynolds can vote in this:

Okay, this was a very tough vote for me to cast. I'll be honest, I'm a little biased toward a couple of the competitors due to the fact we're personal friends. However, with that completely aside I decide to make the vote based on construction, durability, skill, as well as detail.

I know it needs zero explanation but I love to over-explain.
One very important factor in cosplaying is FUN (or the appearance of haha). I am going with the competitors that I can see had the most fun, chose costumes that suited them the best and allowed them to wear their costume longer than a trip to the booth and back to their room. Personally, I think if you're going to compete in a costume contest you should be judged on skill/detail as well as the act of wearing the costume (how you pose, length of wear, and if you look comfortable). Last year I wore Amiri for seriously 9 hours total for the Con...and I know Lora wore her Witch costume more or near that amount...not sure how we did that. LOL! Much respect to anyone who can wear a costume in hot/sticky Indiana for more than 1 hr haha!

I choose the *Pathfinder Adventure Party*. We're voting on them as a group/team right? I hope so!

I think they looked like they were having a blast together, they looked comfortable and they each chose a costume that looked good on them! I believe I recall seeing them all day in their outfits! And look at the group pose! They're in sync with one another...I'm guessing they're good friends?

Every single costume in this line up is fantastic and you all did great! I'm glad I'm not the only person who gets this hobby! ;o) I cannot wait to see who shows up in costume at PaizoCon and GenCon 2012!

XOXO

they all look great, but the grey maiden takes the cake

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I like the whole adventuring party myself. Teamwork is harder to pull off then a good individual job. If the party isn't eligible, then the Grey Maiden did an awesome job.
