It’s that time again! Though I failed in my sacred duty to announce the Annual Gen Con Pathfinder Cosplay Contest well ahead of time, we still had a number of unbelievably strong contenders this year, and it would be a shame not to crown one of them as the winner—a title which, in addition to bragging rights, confers $50 in paizo.com store credit. So let’s get voting!
Here’s how it works: Presented below are the photographs (and names, where possible) of this year’s contestants. In the comments thread for this blog, you can pick the ONE winner who you think has the most awesome Pathfinder-related costume and shout out your vote. You have until next Thursday at noon to get in your choices, after which we’ll announce the winner.
Your options are:
Jessica as a Gray Maiden
Leslie as Seoni
Jean-Marc as a paladin of Sarenrae and Luc as a paladin of Iomedae
Eric as our Iconic Alchemist
Bonnie as our Iconic Witch (and Corey as kilted barbarian)
Nani as a Harrower
Natalie (with the metal plates), Nicole the alchemist, Amy the ranger, Megan the pregnant sorcerer, Mike the cleric.
Despite my partiality for alchemists (and the fact that the alchemist, while having Damiel's ears, seems to have picked up Norret's cane and duster), I'm also going to vote for Bonnie as the witch. Really intricate reconstruction there.
It's an honor to be part of the contest, and it was great to meet the artist Wayne Reynolds at Gencon (and have him sign the costume). We'll see you next year.
Okay, this was a very tough vote for me to cast. I'll be honest, I'm a little biased toward a couple of the competitors due to the fact we're personal friends. However, with that completely aside I decide to make the vote based on construction, durability, skill, as well as detail.
I know it needs zero explanation but I love to over-explain.
One very important factor in cosplaying is FUN (or the appearance of haha). I am going with the competitors that I can see had the most fun, chose costumes that suited them the best and allowed them to wear their costume longer than a trip to the booth and back to their room. Personally, I think if you're going to compete in a costume contest you should be judged on skill/detail as well as the act of wearing the costume (how you pose, length of wear, and if you look comfortable). Last year I wore Amiri for seriously 9 hours total for the Con...and I know Lora wore her Witch costume more or near that amount...not sure how we did that. LOL! Much respect to anyone who can wear a costume in hot/sticky Indiana for more than 1 hr haha!
I choose the *Pathfinder Adventure Party*. We're voting on them as a group/team right? I hope so!
I think they looked like they were having a blast together, they looked comfortable and they each chose a costume that looked good on them! I believe I recall seeing them all day in their outfits! And look at the group pose! They're in sync with one another...I'm guessing they're good friends?
Every single costume in this line up is fantastic and you all did great! I'm glad I'm not the only person who gets this hobby! ;o) I cannot wait to see who shows up in costume at PaizoCon and GenCon 2012!
I like the whole adventuring party myself. Teamwork is harder to pull off then a good individual job. If the party isn't eligible, then the Grey Maiden did an awesome job.
