I am really interested in the other ways to get access to purchasing/ attaining the black dragon!!! The sculpt looks incredibly detailed.

Hmmm... one question I hadn't thought of before, and I can't tell from the photos, and I can't slog through 500+ messageboard posts to see if its been addressed:
Are these going to be Reaper/Gamemastery/D&D 1-inch scale minis, or GW/WizKids 1.5 inch scale minis? I really do hope the former, though I would guess it's too late to change regardless.

These are designed to the standard 1 inch = 5 feet scale you've come to appreciate from Reaper, DDM, etc.

Since it's part of a repainted line, basically no. However the colour is not the onlydifference between dragons - head shape for example.

It's pretty easy to strip & paint/repaint on wizkid models. You should be able to turn up some "how-to"s on that via google.
That being said, if you want to paint, buy the reaper/pathfinder metal casts. Harder to transport, but much better looking. If you are thinking about repainting plastic, that is what you care about... how they look over transport.

It is great to see real miniatures. The character figs are quite frankly....Blow Me Away, the best PPMs I have ever seen. The Dragon looks good too. Merisiel is particularly unique. I don't know a female elf rogue anywhere in PPMs this dynamic.
Great job Paizo and Wizkids.

Simple Green*/Dettol**/Brown or Green soap (depends on what part of the world you are in) -> emerge miniature in solution -> wait a day -> use cheap tooth brush to brush off paint.
It's actually quite simple. :-)* The undiluted stuff.
** Original - not the scented stuff.

I've been using Dettol* to strip paint from plastic figures, but so far, I've only done it to the hard plastic that Games Workshop use for their kits.
If you can confirm it doesn't attack the softer plastic of the DDMs, I'll give them a go.
Some of the DDM paint jobs look a lot worse than they are; a few misplaced facial features can lead you to believe the whole detail has been filled. But sometimes I've experimented with a quick ink wash, and found that the sculpted detail is still there, so I just spray a thin coat of primer or varnish, and paint over.
*The active ingredient in the Dettol is pine oil, so check that's listed before purchase. Some brands don't include it.

The dire rat looked a bit goofy to me, but the rest seem to be of top notch quality! The succubus and the black dragon sculpts look better than anything I've seen yet, and (correct me if I'm wrong) the other preview images are are lacking "finishing touches", right?

I've never bought a single DDM, I find close to 98% of them too ugly for our "standards"* - especially with the price we'd have to pay for them in stores over here, so I can't help you out there.

I guess we've been spoiled by the great sculpts of GW, Reaper and Ral Partha minis + several pretty darn good painters (as in, contest winning painters at several cons in the past).

The previews with the Dire Rat and Succubus are digital sculpts, and not painted masters.
The character miniatures above I believe are painted masters and re markedly close to their digital sculpts. This is a good thing.

Thought so; yet no matter how good the paint work looks, I think the dire rat sculpt is still goofy. But as O said, the rest look really, really good. Oh, my poor wallet -- another lean year coming up as once again you shall empty your contents to fill up the Paizonian treasure vaults! :)

Have you had a chance to try it out?
Secondly, is the paint job on the DDM miniatures so thick that it's necessary to remove the paint? Would it be possible to just prime them over the old paint job and reapply a new coat of paint?
