It's a Bug Hunt

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

When we ordered art for Lost Cities of Golarion, I criticized the wisdom of ordering a cover that was just "Kyra fighting some bugs?"

Thanks to Daren Bader, I stand thoroughly corrected.

Art: Quite Impressive! Daren Bader, I am a fan sir.

Just as bloody Impressive - Kyra the dual weapon wielding Cleric!!

Somewhere Clangeddin Silverbeard is smiling

Now is the scorpion rather dog or cow in size?

p.s. great artwork!

Wow! Thouroughly corrected, indeed! Daren Bader's art is impressive! I guess even if you just said "Kyra standing" Daren Bader will surprise you with something as impressive :)

This is an insta-favorite. One of the best cover illustrations, ever.

I like this picture, but I wonder. Has there ever been art of Kyra where she's actually wearing that heavy shield that always appears in her stat block?

Oh man.

Very much digging Daren Bader's work.

And I'm reminded again of just how awesome and crazy-detailed Kyra's character design is.

Also, Osirion? Hells yeah.

Actually, it's a small scorpion who knows a lot about perspective and uses it to get +10 on Intimidation checks.

Great art.

Technically, a scorpion is an arachnid, and not a 'bug' :P

Technically you're right, nevertheless stomping on bugs is just cooler than crushing Pandinus imperator maximus :-)

That's a great piece of art! I particularly like the background and attention to detail on the statues :)

-_-

Thanks. Thanks Matt. Thank you for that. :P

Well, technically, "bug" isn't a technical term, and is an informal term that typically refers to all non-crustacean arthropods.

Including arachnids.

I presume you're refering to Hemipterans, the so-called "true bugs." But, technically, again, Wes didn't call them "true bugs", he just called them bugs. :p

Reminds me of the new "Clash of the Titans." :)

This is a fine piece of art but I have a little nitpick. Kyra's pose seems a bit weird to me. Especially the way she's holding her scimitar. Now, I'm no fencing expert or anything like it so this is just my opinion. It seems like she just made an horizontal slash with it but there's nothing close to her to slash at. Otherwise she might be in a battle ready pose but in this case she doesn't seem positioned to attack with her scimitar quickly.

I think she's taking a swing at the scarab swarm.

Wow, awesome how he catches the scorp coming out of the shadows into light, makes me thing of a Ray Harryhausen flick. Well done!

Check out the cover of Pathfinder #6, she's in the background with Ezren and Valeros fighting

Spoiler:
some rune giants.

Death of Three-eyed Wonder. Bug Hunt.

Is this emergence of a pattern?

Also wanted to add. Nice to see a female iconic look 'hawt' while not showing skin.
