Depends on how fast Dave writes it, I guess.

This is awesome! There really isn't enough Asian Fantasy fiction out there. At least, not ones written in the English language (AKA Common).

:)

Cool! My favorite FR books (not saying much, but I liked these ones) was the Empires Trilogy. Hopefully this will be accompanied by a Chronicles offering on Tian Xia?

This novel will come out at the same time as a Tian Xia sourcebook in the Campaign Setting line, which is to say August 2011.

Lots of news dropping at Gen Con!

Cha-ching! Very happy news!

Does this mean we may have a Tian Xia based AP next year, too?

Paizo Employee Publisher, Chief Creative Officer

Oh.

Yes.

Forgot that.

JADE REGENT is confirmed as the August Adventure Path for 2011.

All rules necessary to run "Asian" (and tons of other types) of campaigns to appear in the Pathfinder RPG line in ULTIMATE MAGIC (April) and ULTIMATE COMBAT (August).

Man, 2011 looks like it might be even better than 2010. Other than the Tian Xia and Ultimate Combat, have I missed any announcements from GenCon?

Have you read Jacqueline Carey's two latest books: Naamah's Kiss, and Naamah's Curse? While the narrator is a westerner (Gaelic- [with a bit of fay to her] French [with some angelic blood in the far ancestry]) about half the first book is set in Ch'in, and the second book mostly take place on the Tatar steppes, Siberia, and Nepal.

Very very awesome, congrats Dave.

So...the Tian Xia sourcebook in the Campaign Setting line will be most fluff, light on crunch. In order to run Asian theme game we need Ultimate Magic and Ultimate Combat to get those rules?

It would seem so, unfortunately. Personally, I had hoped the archetypes and other stuff for pseudo-Asian fantasy would be confined to the World Guide book, so I could just conveniently ignore it. Ah, well.

yeah...I thought I could just get the Tian Xia sourcebook and ignore the "ultimate" series. :(

I was thinking more the other way around. I know, I'll be getting all the stuff, as I'm a collector, but I prefer to be easily able to ignore it for my game. Having it in the rulebooks will make players feel entitled.

Hmm, Actually I think putting the '"Asian" (and tons of other types) of campaigns' in the Ultimates, then a fluffy campaign setting book works for me.

With the options in the PFRPG (and the APG) You don't need a ninja class, or a 'samurai' class. Heck, both the Ninja and the Geisha can be represented by the rogue, if you don't want bard/geisha types.

My only hope is that the Tian Xian 'katana' does 1d8/18-20X3 bastard sword style.

Awww...a WHOLE YEAR!? Damn it...well...there goes my OA campaign for another year.

Thou shalt not create a weapon that has both increased crit range and increased crit multiplier!

Souriously, that would more or less invalidate the bastard sword.

That's cool. We getting sohei?

damn, typo, should be X2.

I don't want to start a 'katana is uber' argument, just think there needs to be something between the scimitar and the falchion in Pathfinder RPG, and the katana would fit in the 'curved blade' family.
