This Week at Paizo

Friday, May 7, 2010

It's been a busy week at Paizo... and we're not done yet.

Sean "The 'K' is for Konfident" Reynolds reassures me of what he already knows. My desk midweek: ground zero for much chaos. (To answer the inevitable question here: Yes, I use them as bookmarks.)
It may drive us crazy, but putting out so many products does make for some pretty awesome hauls.

Nice touch. I still have mine somewhere, including five or six Lady of Pains.

And I'm assuming that we're seeing a mockup of the Gamemastery Guide? If so, it would have been funny to show it's blank pages stating only GM's can read it.

Nope, that is the finished book in our greedy little hands, which means the print run is done and they are more than likely on their way to Seattle! I have to say, it looks amazing, and I was having fun reading through some of the chapters today. I really love the way it turned out!

Every time I heard about the Gamemastery Guide, I alternate between squealing with glee and dieing a little inside :) Gonna be a rough month.

First shoes, now hats. The guy's just a mess when it comes to haberdashery. But I can't really focus on that... not with all the shiny in that bottom picture...

I have to say. It's the covers of Paizo's products I love the most. Every time I see a Paizo product on the shelf I can't help but reach for the shiny.

I use old railway tickets as my bookmarks! :D

Notes that Wes's desk at its most chaotic is about how mine looks on a normal day.

I wish my desk was ever that clean. :p

How. Dare. You. I am hat at work in Mac finder with the roll of graphics on. I learned to stop trying to play .jpgs and .doc files through iTunes loooong ago.

Man, I am damn near giddy about how this book turned out. It was a hard birth, but in the end it looks sooooooooo cool. I mean, really really gorgeous.I spent about an hour gushing about it over on the Know Direction podcast, which should be up either today or next Friday. And I've got plenty more to show you over the course of the next few weeks!

Ross had fixed that it had said "April." I fixed that it also said "2009."

I know editors are always looking for more time, but I'm not sure that's the most effective method.

All I have to say is, Awwwwww ;o)

It's not everyone that can rattle Wes enough to get a "How. Dare. You." from him. Well done! (applause)

Wow :)

He's right, though. Unless he likes to listen to music where the CD covers look like folder icons.

Yea, I know how you feel. My wallet is already mad at me and I have yet to be charged for them.

I have to agree with the other excited people here - those books are all tempting. Triceratops makes me want to sell my soul for a book. :P

I am excited to see what the GMG has on Planes too, after the snippets released on the blog from the index, etc. It even includes Amnesia and Insanity factors! Huzzah!

Lisa, I am so envious of your company's amazing productivity and creative fulfillment on a unique market position. As it stands people who have good ethics run good businesses, and good businesses will either make good money, stay in business for a long time, or both. I think the future looks good for you and the rest of you goofballs. I love seeing the antics of your over-worked employees exploring the hill out back too - what a fun end to a deliriously long day!

Keep having fun, keep being popular, and keep making us so happy - I don't how you all do it, but you do it well. Good for all of you! *back-pats*

The key is truly loving what you do for a living. You couldn't get folks to work so hard for a job that was meh. They do it because of their love for the product and their quest for making each product the best they can. Yep, the days can get long and the weekends short (or non-existant lately), but when you go to GenCon or Paizocon and see the end result, it is somehow all worth it. If it ever gets to the point where it isn't fun anymore and people are dreading coming in to work, then it will all be over for Paizo. My job is to make sure that doesn't happen. :)

It will never happen - as I watch on facebook everyday, your employees love what they do, and the company is solid. Ethics is everything in today's market, you have that covered - everything else is productivity! ;)

I am just DYING to get my hands on an APG and GMG now after seeing the latter sitting out on the counter at my local shop. *coveting thoughts take over* I saw that you guys covered the planes, but not as in-depth as I was expecting.... So I might still be able to get away with submitting another query to be turned down (but turn some heads too) on portals and planes (and yes, I love the Legend & Lairs book of the same title very much, btw). Love it, love it, love it all. :D

Keep in mind that the Pathfinder RPG line is designed for use with *any* campaign setting, so discussions of things that vary widely from setting to setting, such as the planes, will necessarily be limited in scope. You'll want to look to the Pathfinder Campaign Setting line, and books like The Great Beyond for setting-specific details.

The Great Beyond arrived today - I am so late on all this... But now it's ON!!! ;) Next up I am going to get The Vault of Souls, and then I am armed to create pretty much anything I have seen offered except the fiction books (uninterested) and adventure paths. Now that I know the layout for PFS modules, chronicles/CS, etc., I am a writing machine! ;) There's so much to do, and I am LATE LATE LATE! :P ;)
