As we struggle to keep our heads above water amid Bestiary 3's monster monsoon, here's a quick art preview of J. P. Targete's incredible work from the upcoming Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Lands of the Linnorm Kings. For more on Bestiary 3... stay tuned.

Is that a new linnorm? Looks to be fishier than the three in Bestiary 1.

Also, I am greatly pleased to see not a single horned helmet.

J. P. Targete is amazing, one of my favorite artists. His work for the Midnight (FFG) covers made me a fan long ago.

Very cool.

Dark Archive

Awesome!!

Query: Did the raiders in picture two have those horses on their longboat or were they taken from the village's stables then used on the raid?

Request: Linnorm and Linnorm King prepainted minis in 2012!

sea monsters rule!

It might be a linnorm or it might be something completely different.

Liberty's Edge

I would wager the long boat.

Have you seen the 13th warrior. Good movie and it shows them doing it their. Yes it was a movie but....

I would love a sneak peek into this book's contents.

From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

Ah uh-ooh-ah ah!

Liberty's Edge

Sea Monster: "You really shouldn't be out with the water like this. Here, let me get you to shore."

The vikings would indeed bring horses with them on their ships sometimes (especially during the later part of the Viking Age), but they'd use them for transportation, and then dismount prior to battle.

Alternatively, Vikings: Dinner!

Dang it, now I can't get the image of viking kittens out of my head! Thanks a lot Paizo! ;) (At least that's always what I think of now when I hear that song...)

Very nice, these pictures

The Exchange

Amazing. My only complaint is that they are too small to serve as wallpaper on a 22" widescreen monitor, without pixalating.

This book features numerous new monsters.

Just throwing that out there TOTALLY at random.

Also, not all new monsters in this book are actually stated up in this book; some of the new monsters mentioned in this book actually get stated up in Bestiary 3.

Just throwing THAT out there, not randomly at all, but to manage expectations.

Also notice that the sails on the longships in both pictures are the same. Possibly the same ship at different points along a voyage?
Wonder which happens first, raid or sea beast?

I cannot think vikings without thinking the Immigrant song. They are simply made for each other.

It seems the Ulfen aren't as united as they'd like the other nations to believe.

Why is Elvis covering songs with some reggae band? And isn't he dead?

I have to stop taking drugs. And I'm not even taking any. I must basically start taking drugs and immediately stopping.
