A Curious Thing I Came Upon While Shopping - A Pathfinder Goblin in Malaysia

Paizo General Discussion

As the title to the thread might suggest, I came upon something interesting today... I went out to one of our local shopping centers to do our weekly grocery shopping today and found that they were having a Halloween Promotion called a Season of the Goblins. My first thoughts were relatively benign... until I walked into the shopping center itself...

And saw these decorations.

Suffice it to say I found it quite amusing to say the least and wondered if the decorators just found the images through google search - or whether it was a conscious decision to create them in the form of the Pathfinder Goblin.

I'll be dropping them a line on their Facebook Page to find out - but I thought that the Paizonites might find it amusing exactly how far their brand has reached out ;)

lol, nice!

Good style just persuades people!

Vic - Make them give up the 3D Gob holding the d20 if you don't sue them!

Agreed.

wow. it is truly a global pop culture. reminds me of how surprised I was to see local kids wearing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirts in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon a couple decades ago.

Or... demand they send you the decorations after the event. Then put them up at paizo.

As impressive as they are (and as badly as I'd love to have them for myself) I'm pretty surprised that they'd do something like that. Though maybe they don't care since its only from an American company?

They'd make great decorations for GenCon or any other big con that Paizo'd be willing to send them to. :)

Legally, how would one go about making a statue/decoration such as those?

I can't wait to find Mexican knockoff Seoni action figures at the flea market.

...no, immediately send them 10 copies of the beginner box to give away to local kids!

Capitalise on the free publicity :)

Not all countries honor American Copyrights. So if one wanted to make such a figure, there are companies who will do it for the right amount of money.

Heh - Paizo just put a link up on their Twitter account... so I don't think lawsuits are necessarily going to be flying around ;)

Oh, and on Facebook

I'm pretty sure you can make all of these that you want to "legally" and put them up all over your home or whatever. As long as you are not selling them you should be fine.

I do not believe it would be breaking any laws. How else would kids go trick or treating as the Hulk or Thor from costumes they made without getting sued.
