Why is the Paizo web servers so slow to respond?

just a heads up, I have noticed the last few days that the website has gotten really slow to respond. Its taking an average of 16 seconds for server response. I have seen it as slow as 45 seconds.

I am pretty sure its not on my end I have 150mb fiber connection.

I've noticed the same thing. It takes FOREVER for a page to load. Makes shopping a pain.

Right its superslow and getting slower by the day.

I too have noticed slower page-loading. Curious...

Yesterday evening we rolled the site with some code that wasn't using an index properly. This should now be fixed, so the super slowness over the past few hours should be better. The website has some overall performance problems which we are addressing with a fairly extensive rewrite of some core code. I'm hoping we'll have that project ready to roll out sometime in the next couple of weeks. I am also hoping that it fixes a number of performance-related issues with the site.

I have noticed this for aquite a few days and it does not matter what system or network I am on. I hope the fixes make it better.

I got a 404 error from about 1pm PST till 230pm PST today. Unable to access from any means. Thought it is something that should be posted as an issue but not worth a new thread.

This was part of scheduled downtime.

I forgot today and tried to log on. I love the picture of the goblins smashing the computer. Nice work.

You guys should run your servers on VMware. I'd love to get my hands on your backend and play with it to improve performance.

edit: That was not meant to sound dirty...

Looks like maintenance has created a few problems

I hope this is an unintentional issue caused by the new upgrade, but I just made a post in my PBP game. After I had made the post the thread showed (1 new) for me, and it still continues to do so even though I've clicked on the thread multiple times since then.

That's pretty annoying functionality :)

Edit: It didn't happen with this thread, so perhaps it only happens for aliases, or only in PBP posts?

Edit2: I just noticed that Gary explained in another thread that the (x new) functionality will be wonky until later today. Hopefully that means this will fix itself :)

We rolled out a major rewrite of our messageboards code today, and things will be wonky for awhile as things get cleaned up. This thread is where I'll post updates as things straighten out.
