Simple Virtual Battlegrid

My group is about to start a PBP game. We are considering options for our battlegrid.

If possible I would like to get several options for having a very simple online grid. I am not looking for anything fancy. Just a way of presenting a map, a grid and tokens that everybody can move.

We don't need anything sophisticated like stats tracking,etc. But the main feature is that it should be as simple as possible. I was thinking on using a google docs presentation with the map on it and using images or shapes as tokens. But I guess that there should be better options!

i use game table for all of my needs and it works quite well it's java based and pretty bare bones http://sourceforge.net/projects/gametableproj/

I use roll20.net it is in beta but works well and has a lot of features you can use or not. There is no download only login to website.

You can also try d20pro or Maptool(map tool is free but i found it a little rough to use)
