What is the earliest point one can obtain the individual crane feats?

A Master of Many Styles monk can get Crane Style at 1st-level and Crane Wing at 2nd-level, but I worry it will be another four levels before I can get the 3rd.

I'm wondering if multiclassing might help me get it sooner, but I haven't found a solution yet.

Is there a way to get the feats (individually or all) faster?

Take a level of unarmed fighter.

That's what AMY did to get 3 style feats by level 2.

Maybe I'm overlooking something, but can't you:
Monk 1 (MoMS): Human - Dodge, Monk: IUS, 1st level: Crane Style, Monk Bonus: Crane Wing
Monk 2 (MoMS): Monk Bonus: Crane Riposte

The Crane Style requires Dodge, IUS, and (Monk 1 or BAB). Don't you have all that to take as the first level feat?

Just a reminder but the secondary feats are not style feats! So unarmed fighter doesn't work.

Oh wow. I can do this in two levels? For some reason, I wasn't thinking of getting it as a general feat as I didn't think I met the prerequisites, but it DOES say I can get it merely by being a 1st-level monk, can't I?

My GM is going to go nuts when he sees my Crane style fighter (monk 2/fighter x) wreaking havoc in his low-level games.

Yes they are. They are under the "style feats" table.

If that were true master of many styles or unarmed fighter could take crane riposte at level 1.

They just wrote it that way because if they separated them the chart would be unreadable.

Crane style has both the combat and style descriptors in the full description section. The followup feats only have combat. That pattern holds for all the styles. The full description takes precedence over the quick reference table.

edit: It isn't a big deal for purposes of your combo you could just take the fighter level first and it all still works. Plus it does appear gowen has solved the problem better by going human anyway.

Well sonuvadog.

actually, while the unarmed fighter can only take the original style feat, the MoMS can actually take the feats further down in the chain, provided he has the base style feat already. Thus you could skip the second feat on the chain (for example skipping Boar Ferocity to take Boar Shred, if you so chose)

This is kinda why MoMS is so complex.

Rules cited as follows:

Quote:
At 1st level, 2nd level, and every four levels thereafter, a master of many styles may select a bonus style feat or the Elemental Fist feat. He does not have to meet the prerequisites of that feat, except the Elemental Fist feat. Alternatively, a master of many styles may choose a feat in that style’s feat path (such as Earth Child Topple) as one of these bonus feats if he already has the appropriate style feat (such as Earth Child Style). The master of many styles does not need to meet any other prerequisite of the feat in the style’s feat path.

So take unarmed fighter at first level and follow it up with two levels of MoMS.

Which works well if I'm not human. However, if I AM human, I can just take Dodge as my human bonus feat, pick up Crane Style with my normal feat, Crane Wing with my monk bonus feat, and at level two take Crane Riposte with my next monk bonus feat.

Humans can get it in only two levels. :D

EDIT: To continue that trend, I could take a level of fighter at 3rd-level for two feats, which can be the first two of a second combat style that I qualify for (the better to make use of my Fuse Style class ability). Essentially, I'm a third level fighter with more feats, higher saves, better defenses, and more overall options as I move forward.

sohei mixes with MoMF, so i would suggest going sohei for 6 levels and then fighter it knocks up your damage pretty nicely, better then a monk 2/fighter x. oh and you get a mount that you can heal.
