Who are your "Lords of the Boards"?

The *official* Lords of the Boards thread is interesting ... but it's a bit self-serving for my tastes. While I do understand the need for a community to recognize its most important members, I'd rather see it done in a more representational and -- dare I say -- democratic manner. So, without further adieu, I present the Paizo "Lord of the Boards Proportional Representation Election System" (LotBPRES).

The rules are simple:

1) Vote for your favorite posters in descending order.

2) I will tabulate the current votes every Friday. (Three points for each 1st place vote, two points for each 2nd place vote, one point for each 3rd place vote).

3) You may not vote for yourself.

4) You may vote for me as many times as you wish.

5) Comments and/or explanations following the votes are encouraged and expected.

6) We will discover who truly are the Lords of the Boards.

And now onto my votes:

1) Peruhain of Brithondy. Peruhain brings an intellectualism to the boards that is sorely lacking from many posters. I especially appreciated his comments on gender theory vis a vis James Jacobs' concept of the transvirtual character. Huzzah Peruhain!

2) Heathanson. Nobody does sarcasm or in-character postings as well as this guy. His only weakness as a LotB may be his inability to defend himself against silvered weapons, including the infamous silvered tongue (lashing).

3) James Jacobs. How cool is it to have the editor of Dungeon magazine posting on these boards? Too cool I say. Too cool.

Cheers,
El Skootro

Can there be a "pro" category, meaning industry veterans or professionals?

I assumed that everyone would be in it together. I hadn't considered handicapping pro vs. am.

My decision: If you'd like to post two separate votes, one for the enlightened professionals and one for the downtrodden masses, please do so. I'll let it all come out in the wash.

Agreed, on all 3 counts, and for those reasons (though the order may differ). I'd also nominate, in no particular order: (4) Magdalena Thiriet, who always brings a refreshing viewpoint, (5) Fake Healer, who is incessantly amusing, (6) Great Green God, a storehouse of wisdom; and, of course, (7) Nic Logue and (8) Rich Pett--the boards just wouldn't be the same without their sibling-rivalry-like buffoonery.

Fakey, Jade, and Sebastian.
Jade said something a little while ago that I was scairt my heart would stop beating cos I couldn't breathe.
The Koga, Ultradan,...those guys crack me up.
That guy Ikki with the kobolds trips me out too. He's real into kobolds, man.

Let's see...

First off, just about anyone on the Dragon or Dungeon staff, but especially James Jacobs and Mike McArtor.

Hmm...and for just people around Paizo: Heathensson, Fatespinner, Erik Goldman, Lilith, and Nicholas Logue. (Hope I spelled all of those right...)

The *official* Lords of the Boards thread is designed that way for the express purpose of not being an exclusionary, elitest club. These boards are small, friendly, and informal, and you shouldn't have to get voted in the latest popularity contest thread to feel like you belong.

Oh, in that case I choose:

Gary Teter
Vic Wertz
and Cosmo

for all their hard work keeping everything ship-shape.

Oh come now, we all know that all Paizo posters are equal. It's just that some posters are more equal than others.

I'm sure we'll all just let it lie.

I agree with Sebastian regarding popularity contests. Don't care for 'em. However, this seems as good a place as any to recognize some of the people who are just so darn helpful.

1.)Peruhain of Brithondy - As noted before, Peruhain offers sage and balanced advice which includes ways to make the game more realistic. He's helped me out with great suggestions more times than I can count.

2.)Sebastian - I have several times asked about niggling rules questions which come up in my games. There are many folks who have good rules advice, but Sebastian is the steadiest in my brief experience. I may not always like his interpretations, but they are always well reasoned and well researched, and like it or not I almost always agree.

There are a number of other folks who are every bit as deserving of my special thanks, but in the interests of time and brevity, I'll stop here with specifics. However, in general terms, I'd like to once again add my appreciation and acknowledgment of the incredible job the Paizo staff do in creating cool products, maintaining and improving a great website, and above all providing excellent customer service. Very specifically this relates to their continued presence here on the messageboards.

Finally, I'd like to reiterate what others have said. The community here at Paizo is a really nice one. Friendly, helpful, and funny. All of you people who contribute make this a great place to come and hang out. Thank you for your ideas and your welcoming attitudes.

Gah, this ended up like a Miss America acceptance speech. It's sappy, but what I say is how I feel. Thanks ya'll.

I view this not as a contest, but as a way of saying "thanks" to people who have been particularly helpful, amusing, or both. That's why I refuse to rate people in any particular order other than an aribtrary list-format one. That said, you and Ultradan should certainly be on the list. And that Archmagik guy... he barely ever says anything, but when he does, it's incisive and to the point. Gotta love that.

Thanks, too, for everyone who uses capital letters, punctuation, correct homonyms, and generally good spelling (almost everyone on the boards). It makes reading your posts a LOT easier!

Why am I at 8 and Logue at 7 then?

Ah, alphabetically...it's the only possible reason:)

Blargh! We just had to read that book in English class...

Although I think a book about a bunch of Gamers getting out of control and rebelling against others would be better than animals rebelling against humans.

I just took each of your number of adventures in the last six issues (except this last one, blast you both!) and divided by four. The resulting quotient was your ranking.

Oh, wait. Logue should have been 361, then.

Don't worry. It's one of the few things our culture has that amounts to a rite of passage, like going to prom.

Methinks Mr. Goldman gives me too much credit.

But seriously, I did intend for this thread to be a way of recognizing people who are funny, helpful, etc. I only recently discovered the Paizo boards, but I'm very happy with the community that's based here.

If my tone came off as smarmy or exclusive, it's because I try to post with my alter-ego (see avatar) in mind, and nothing says "work of the devil" like a popularity contest.

I've just had the weirdest feeling of deja vu.

I seem to recall a thread a year back with the exact same title.

So....am I right?

BTW, my votes are for Heathy, FH, and triple G. In no particular order. If I could do 4, I would also throw in F2K. I like anybody that you can abbreviate their name and most everyone on the boards still knows who you are talking about.

Okay, my 3:
F2k
KeJR
Fake Healer

Im going with GGG, Sutter the render, and the old standby ASEO! And triple-G, make the check out to CASH!

...and this was the point that democracy became demoCRAZY. I'm not TOUCHING this thread. It reeks of government influence.

Here are my votes...

Lilith, Fake-Healer, F2K, and an honorable mention for Saern.

Ultradan

Scarab Sages

Celestial Healer, Lilith, Heathanson, Valegrim in no particular order

Seeing as the origional poster is wanting to make this a weekly event, i feel it is only right to disregard body of work and cast my votes for the best posters only from Friday to Friday. I'll cast my votes on Friday.

I'm terrible at these popularity contests. How's about I vote for you if you vote for me. We'll rig this thing by one!

Put me down as one vote for everybody except Kobold Cleaver.
...
Aw, I can't do it, even for a joke.

Give KC a three-quarters of a vote.

Ooo. A popularity contest.

There can be only one!

Yeah, and those are so meaningful, and have historically had so much to say about an individuals character and value.

1.) Mike McArtor- who actually seems to like me, plus he's got a gnome ninja henchperson.. and I just don't know anybody else here with an offical sidekick.

2.) Nick Logue, and not for all the horror crap you guys go on about.. but because he wrote a sexually attractive halfling chick (in peril!) in Hangman's Noose. Say what you will about Ogres and all that crap; when I want to get naughty with a hobbit, a chaotic netral hobbit no less, the natural order has been sh!t-kicked into the next week. I feel dirty.

3.) Vic Wertz, who just today said that I could come to the Paizo Booth at Gencon, and not only would they admit to knowing me, but I could also win valuable prizes.
