DUNGEON® & POLYHEDRON® Go Monthly

More Game, More Gear for D&D Fans, Plus Special Bonuses for Subscribers

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® enthusiasts will now have more adventures and more game tools to look forward to every month of the year. Starting this May, the award-winning DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON gaming magazines, produced by Paizo Publishing, will be in print monthly. The current DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON, two magazines published together as a “flippy,” now appears six times per year.

“We love the one-two punch offered by DUNGEON and POLYHEDRON,” said Johnny Wilson, President and Publisher at Paizo, “but we wanted to go for a knockout. By going monthly, and lowering the price per issue, we are offering readers the most flexible and useful publication we can imagine.”

Paizo will reduce the newsstand cover price of the combined publication from $7.99 to $6.99, reflecting a reduction in the total number of pages in the magazine. Subscribers, however, will enjoy more special resources. In alternating issues, six times per year, an additional 16-page DUNGEON section will be sent only with subscriber copies.

“The amount of adventure content over a two-month period will remain the same in DUNGEON, so those readers who purchase the magazine on the newsstand will only gain more excellent d20 content that can be ported into any D&D or d20 game,” said DUNGEON editor Chris Thomasson. “But the addition of the 16-page subscriber section allows us to reward our most loyal readers. The new sections will include new adventures, ‘Critical Threats,’ ‘Maps of Mystery,’ and possibly some brand-new features.”

Players and Dungeon Masters alike will find extra advantages in the new format.

“The switch to a monthly format gives us a chance to provide support material—adventures, adversaries, maps, and more—for some of the great d20 System Mini-Games we’ve published over the past year,” said Erik Mona, Editor of POLYHEDRON magazine. “Fans have been asking for new Mini-Game content from the start, and finally we’ll have the chance to give it to them.”

“The total number of adventure pages in the magazines will be greater per year, and we’ll have the same number of d20 mini-games” added Wilson. “More magazines per year also means that readers will have new adventures to use on a more regular basis, and that Dungeon Masters will have resources on current adventure paths more often.”

Readers can also look forward to more crossover articles between DRAGON® and DUNGEON magazines, such as the recent gladiators coverage in DUNGEON #96 and DRAGON #303, fostered by the increased frequency of DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON.

Existing subscribers to DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON will have their subscriptions extended by two issues to reflect the smaller page count per issue.

New subscription prices will take effect on January 22, 2003. Additionally, starting on January 22, those who subscribe to both DUNGEON/POLYHEDRON and DRAGON magazines can get special savings on the dual subscription, receiving both publications every month for only $80.95 per year. To get the discount, subscribers can go to paizo.com after January 22nd and click on the dual subscription button on the DUNGEON, POLYHEDRON, or DRAGON pages.
