Question about the Demonomicon Apocrypha

Great issue guys, bravo. I nearly teared up reading the farewells from Jason, Mike, Wes, and Erik. And how cool was Holian's "Treasures of Greyhawk"? Yeah, Gary!

But I have to admit that I've been looking forward to this Apocrypha article the most. And so far it's wonderful...but it seems to be missing something (unless I am, which is entirely possible).

Iggwilv wrote:
All demon lords are one of the three known demonic races, and thus the creature gains the loumara, obyrith, or tanar'ri sub-type as well, along with all the abilities and traits for that sub-type.

The article then goes on to discuss the Forms of Madness for obyriths...and that's it. There's no mention of the abilities or traits for the other two sub-types, it just moves on to discuss Hit Dice.

Are these in Fiendish Codex I? If so, that makes perfect sense. If not, any chance of posting those on your site? :-)

I just figured the only way to end my confusion was to ask -- no big deal. I can't wait for Pathfinder guys, please keep up the great work!!

The abilities and traits for Tanar'ri are in the Monster Manual. The other two are indeed detailed in Fiendish Codex 1.

Sweetness, thanks Mothman!

I loved the template for new demon lords that's included. It wouldn't be hard to stat out Ilsidahur with that information.

I'm busy working up stats for Beelzebabau the Prince of Babaus!;D

For Ilsidahur, I'd probably go with an advanced bar-lgura and aim for a CR of like 24 or so once the demon lord template's applied. He's pretty small potatoes.

And speaking of the Demonomicon Apocrypha, that baernaloth mention was worthy of response fiction, and I spent a few hours today writing some, which I'll post once I pause for some dinner and spellchecking.

That was one beautiful article. All of the art is high-class, and Lascer especially made me sit up and take notice. Going to have to figure out how to work him into a game sometime soon...

Wow. Now that we've killed the Big D, I feel empowered to make my own demon lords. (Oh, yes, and now I have something to do if I ever see a SCAP or STAP campaign through to the end and have a demon-lord ex-PC on my hands.)

I loved the reference to Lascer. By pure coincidence, one of the back issues I received for my transition was Dungeon 92, with The Razing of Redhand and the Shadow Shoal.

Seeing the tie-in was great, very cool.

Looking forward to getting my copy of Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk!!

As co-author (Rick "Duicarthan" Miller) of that article I loved writing up those magic items. That was some fun stuff. The robe of the mad archmage goes really far back into my home campaigns before 3e even came out.

By far though, I like Nolzur's orb the best b/c it was one of those things that was just a fun item!

fearinator,

yeah, this product rocks! I'm currently working to make a CR 35 Kostchtchie, the Prince of Wrath!
