While I'm sincerely dissappointed by the shipping delay, I like the layout and design of the preview. Any chance those of us who pre-ordered could be charged for the book and receive requested sections in PDF format? :P

Yeah... same and same. I was sooooo looking foward to using this fantastic resource in my current campaign. Ah well, seems like this type of occurence is a widely accepted business standard in the fantasy publishing industry.

BTW, that is NOT a slight. Just insight...

Still, I'm slavering at the mouth for the (possible) December release. Looks like it's going to be a winner.

The book is at the printer now, so a LOT would have to go TERRIBLY wrong for it not to be ready for an early December release.

Very nice preview. Your production values are the best in the business. Keep it up!

WHAT!? I got the email and it was pushed to December 6th!? Why why why!? :( Darn it, I was looking forward to seeing it in my hands in another week.

And one more thing to the writers of this Compendium.

I noticed in the Monster preview, I see "Dweomervore" on there. Um, why is it there? It's in the City of Splendors: Waterdeep book.

Unless you're satisfying the customers that don't play FR. Then I can see the sense. I assume that's the case?

Another thing, I heard Bleeder and Death Kiss are the same creature? Death Kiss was presented in Lords of Madness, so why the Bleeder?

Unless the Bleeder is a totally unique beholder type? If this is so, please say yes! :)

If not, then again, why the Bleeder? :(

Dag nabbit! I want my book on the 10/31, not 12/6!! Grrr. Arrrgh. Growl. *glare*. Okay, fine. But you're breaking my heart, here!

*pout, sulk*

Yup; they were mentioned in Lords of Madness but not statted. MoF was their last 3rd edition appearance.

That's why I can't ever bring myself to pre-order anything. It's already maddening to wait for an order to show up at my door, and while I used to think checking the tracking info online was cool I find it just drives me that much more insane, "What the hell? Why is it sitting in Chatanooga for two freaking days?! Damn you, FedEx, DAMN YOU!!!" I'll just wait until it's released then order it, that way I know I'll get it a few days later.

Well, I'm thoroughly bummed about the pushed release date, but no biggy.

On the other hand, this excerpt looks great! I can't wait until I have the book and I can use the mauler and his other monstrous friends to bring pain to my PCs. MUAHAHAH!-ahem-

two possible explanations:

1) The designers did not know it was the same creature. in the Ruins of Undermountain boxed set MC page, you see: "The Death Kiss, or "bleeder," is a fearsome predator..." it's not exactly common knowledge, but something that an obsessive like myself would be on top of. ;) in this case, either the designers in charge of the DCv1 had not referenced the RoUM set in awhile, or ever, or simply missed that.

2) They did know of the above reference, but decided to make it into two separate creatures with different names. You see this sort of phenomenon where in MM2 you have a Malebranche devil and in the MM you have a Horned Devil - yet, in the first edition MM (1977), the malebranche and horned devil were one in the same.

This is the route I hope they took with the Bleeder. :)

Great layout, way better than I was expecting. I look forward to see the book.
