I will be traveling from Saturday morning until Weds. night (driving up north to see the eclipse). I will try to check in at least once a day, but if I miss a post time, please feel free to bot me to keep the flow going. I don't want to hold up the game.
Shouldn't affect this game which doesn't start til the 25th, just posting this in all my games... just in case.
Narla Thickskull |
Alright. My tagline is up and running, barring a few last-minute purchases.
@GM: There's a handful of reactive abilities that this character has- -is there a way I can make things a bit more streamlined? (The noteworthy one is being able to add 1d6+3 to a failed attack roll, saving throw, skill/ability/concentration check after the result is known, possibly turning failures into successes for myself or an ally within 30 feet.)
----------
@Everyone: As far as party composition goes, I've got medium (uh, no pun intended) combat skills. If need be, I can be the frontline, but a real heavy hitter would be cool, too.
As part of being a medium (and channeling Marshal spirits), I can provide a minor bonus to each person in the party if you participate in my seances (each character can pick one).
Archmage bonus: +2 damage (of the same type) to each target of damaging spells
Champion bonus: +2 to all non-spell damage
Guardian bonus: +1 to CMD
Heirophant bonus: +2 HP healed to each target of healing spells and abilities (excludes magic items/fast healing)
Trickster bonus: Choose 1 skill, it gets a +1 bonus to the skill and it counts as a class skill
Looking forward to getting started.
Narla Thickskull |
If you choose the Marshal spirit, their seance bonus is "choose someone else's seance bonus." And their shared seance lets each participant make that choice.
But you are right, if you channel Champion, say, everyone gets the same bonus.
Sindelle Lifewater |
Wow, that sounds awesome!! Definately heirophant for me!
Enora Pregen |
Player: Tundran
Character: Enora
PFS ID: 161871-7
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Day Job: none
I switched up her prepared spells a little bit with what she has in her spellbook. I hope that's ok.
Narla Thickskull |
I am currently on a weekend vacation, and detailed posting from my phone is a hassle.
I Will be able to make a proper intro sometime later today (and will be good to go, certainly, going forward).
Sorry about the slight delay.
GM Redelia |
If my understanding of the class is correct, Narla is able to provide a bonus of some kind to other characters, but only if they participate in a ceremony with her. Before we go any further, I need you guys to resolve who is participating and what bonus they get. Narla, would you please explain?
Night Hunter |
don't see anything from Narla about a ritual... but Hunter would likely participate.
Narla Thickskull |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
So, because medium is a very modular class, it's rules are a bit complex (and scattered in a few different spots).
Relevant rules text for medium:
Spirit (Su): A medium serves as a vessel to channel spirits—astral echoes of powerful souls from ages past that live on in myth and legend. Each day, a medium can channel a spirit through a ritual known as a seance. Seances take 1 hour to perform and require the medium's concentration. At the end of a seance, the medium invites a local spirit to inhabit him and serve as his spirit for that day. Each spirit arises from one of six legends.
[snip]
A medium can invite his allies to participate in his seance—shared seance and certain spirit powers affect other participants. A character counts as participating so long as she maintains physical contact with another participating character and willfully opens herself to the spirit; unlike the medium, other participating characters can take other actions during this time. Only creatures with an Intelligence score of at least 3 can participate in a seance.
Shared Seance (Su): At 2nd level, a medium can share his channeled spirit's aid with his allies. All allies who participate in the medium's seance gain the channeled spirit's seance boon for 24 hours.
Marshal Spirit Rules Text:
A marshal spirit is a towering presence and an inspiration to others.
Spirit Bonus: When you channel a marshal, your spirit bonus applies on Charisma checks and Charisma-based skill checks, as well as on spirit surge rolls. This allows the bonus to apply twice to the total result if you use a spirit surge on a Charisma check or on a Charisma-based skill check.
Seance Boon: Choose a seance boon from any of the other legends to benefit from. When using the shared seance class feature, each participant can choose a different boon.
[snip]
Marshal's Order (Lesser, Su): You can use your spirit surge on attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks, concentration checks, and skill checks rolled by you or any allies who participated in your seance as long as you have line of sight and line of effect, and are within 30 feet of the chosen ally. You can still use spirit surge only once per round.
Other Seance boons (each willing participant can choose 1).
Archmage Seance Boon: Your damaging spells deal an additional 2 points of damage of the same type that they would normally deal to each target.
Champion Seance Boon: You gain a +2 bonus on all non-spell damage rolls.
Guardian Seance Boon: You gain a +1 bonus to CMD.
Heirophant Seance Boon: Your healing spells and abilities heal an additional 2 points of damage to each target. This does not affect healing conferred by magic items, nor does it add to fast healing or similar effects.
Trickster Seance Boon: Choose one skill when you gain this seance boon. You gain a +1 bonus on skill checks using that skill, and that skill counts as a class skill for you.

A few things to agree on so that I can keep us moving forward at a reasonable pace:
1. Does anyone have any trapfinding/trap removing abilities?
2. I plan to roll a perception check for everyone each time you enter a new room. Is this OK? Is there anything I should know about your character and perception?
3. I need three marching orders agreed to:
a. three in a row, two rows (like you are now)
b. two in a row, three rows (for a 2 square wide hallway, for instance)
c. one at a time, in a narrow hallway
My suggestions for 3:
a. as you are now, so
Narla, Crowe, Night hunter
Malusha, Enora, Sindelle
b.
Crowe, Night hunter
Narla, Malusha
Enora, Sindelle
c. in the same basic order as described in b, just one at a time
Note that this is just a suggestion to start the conversation; you guys can arrange yourselves however you agree. I just know that everyone is reluctant to make the first suggestion because they don't want to be bossy or don't know enough about other characters.
Night Hunter |
no special trap finding or removing here, no special perception (does have darkvision) and the marching order you propose is fine with me.
Narla Thickskull |
Nothing special here, either. Darkvision (and a light source, so that others can see, and I can see in color).
I'm fine with the suggested order as well.
Sindelle Lifewater |
1 No
2 Sure
3 any of those is fine
I work weird hours so normally I can't post until after 11pm central us time just fyi.
Night Hunter |
I will be attending Strategicon from Friday through Monday... Will be able to make limited posts, but not reliably nor frequently... I will try to keep up with at least one post a day, but no guarantees. Please bot me as needed to keep up the pace of the game, thanks.
GM Redelia |
Hey guys, rules clarification question. Sindelle cast deathwatch. Am I reading things correctly that she will instantly tell if something is undead or not if she points her spell cone at it (and it's within 30 feet of her)? If so, to keep things simple, I will probably just tell you guys if something is undead or not as soon as you see it.
Sindelle Lifewater |
Only if I can see it. The spell won't let me "detect" things. So if something uses stealth or stuff I won't know if it's alive/dead/etc until it comes out of hiding.
GM Redelia |
Malusha, I know you have the sun domain's boosts to your channeling against undead. Does anyone else have any abilities I should know about?
Also, do you guys want me to slow down? I feel like I've been rushing you a bit, and perhaps negating your ability to make decisions a little. I wanted to make sure we finish during the first part of gameday so your characters are free for the second half. At this point, we're far enough we can slow down a little and still be pretty sure we can finish on time.
Narla Thickskull |
Malusha, I know you have the sun domain's boosts to your channeling against undead. Does anyone else have any abilities I should know about?
I can always act in a surprise round against a haunt, and have some extra haunt-related abilities.
Speed is fine by me. I can reply at a pretty good pace during the week, but weekends are usually going to only have one or two chances to post.
Sindelle Lifewater |
^ this. I'm having fun too! :)
Narla Thickskull |
I'm certainly okay with that line of reasoning, GM. Thanks for breaking us out of gridlock!
Malusha |
Sindelle, sorry for stealing your action. I didn't see that you were prepared... :-(
I'll think of something else to do next time. If the GM will let us retcon I'm ok with that.
GM Redelia |
I'm OK with whatever you guys work out (within the rules of course). At a game table, it's perfectly OK to say 'ooops, that's not what I meant to do' or something like that before you find out the results of your action, so why wouldn't it be like that here? You also may change your surprise round action, if you want.
