... Should I not be selected to serve with the ACG or HQ, you can find me eating pretzel sticks at Scotty's Brewhouse, watching baseball at Victory Field ...
If you're looking for someone to catch a ball game with, come find me at HQ. I've been wanting to get to a game there for quite a few GenCons and just never seem to get to one.

Sadly, no dice on this again. They're out of town GenCon weekend.

I would wager they are out of town every GenCon weekend.

I may try and squeeze GenCon into my schedule after all. I just got word that friends of mine will be coming in from overseas, so it's probably worth trying to squeeze it in.
So now I'm thinking I might buy a ticket and try to get in on the hotel lottery, and just plan to cancel far enough in advance if I can't get the time off work. I think GenCon will give me a credit instead of a refund, so I can apply it towards a future year's ticket instead. And I believe the hotel reservation can be canceled without penalty if I do it before a certain deadline (2-3 months before?). Does anyone know for sure?
Obviously, this means I won't be signing up to GM, since I can't be sure I can be there. If I am able to go, maybe I'll email the coordinators in June or July when they're scrambling to find replacements for the people who canceled on them and volunteer to take a session or two.

They've been in town a couple of times. They were in town a couple of years ago - I almost went to the game but was then convinced to stay and play in the kobolds special. I didn't realize that my wanting to go to the game was creating a bit of a stir behind the scenes because I didn't know I was going to be awarded a campaign coin that night. I heard after the fact that there was some relief when I decided to play.

Good to Hear!
As for how GenCon handles hotel rooms, if you reserve a room using the GenCon room portal you will be charged $50 if you cancel the room. You don't get changed if you are able to find someone else to take the room but up have to work that through the GenCon portal.
Once the information is given to the hotels in June, you will then be charged a full room night to chancel.

Well hell. I should try to take in a game next year if there is one.

They've had full homestands the past three years while Gen Con's going on. Granted, that was back when Gen Con was earlier in the month. I know five years ago, when it was late in August, there was no game.
wistfully remembers a wave of "Boos" across the stadium last year

I've coordinated Wed and Sun sessions for the last couple years. I will again this year.

Yeah, now that you said it, I remember that from last year. I didn't get a room downtown during the initial lottery last year, so I waited until the cancellation deadline, and got one the day before the charge for cancellation went up from $50 to a full night's payment.
I'm sure if I can get a decent room, I'll have no problem handing it off to friends if I can't make it. Especially since I'll probably make plans to share it with those friends in the first place.

I look forward to meeting you, Fromper. I'll be the short one with the glasses that hugs people.
Oh wait a minute. I'm likely GMing PSA. In that case, I may be taller than the people for whom I'm GMing. Maybe.
Hmm
Last year I had a few tables near the PSA. It always look full of young players enjoying themselves along side their parents. I ran Angel's Flight at a local con and it was really a fun adventure.
