OPC Log—14 Neth 4716

Monday, November 14, 2016

The team and I spent some time last week going over our blog schedule. I am flabbergasted that we are 7 short weeks to the end of 47162016. How did so much time pass so quickly? Looking back, the answer is in a blur of conventions, Venture-Officer promotions/resignations, spreadsheets, and meetings. I think they rest of the team may add development, planning, and devious plans to the list! One thing it reinforces—there is lots of Pathfinder Society happening around the world. None of which would happen without the support of our huge force of volunteers!

5 Star GMs

One of my greatest pleasures is recognizing our volunteers. Today, I get to revel the newest batch of 5 star GMs. These folks have put in well over 700 hours of table time, not to mention the countless hours of preparation. They come from all over the globe—Australia, England, France, the US and Canada—truly an international crew! I tip my hat to those achieving their fifth star and extend a heartfelt thank you for the time and energy all our volunteers dedicate to the Pathfinder Society. Vivat!

Pathfinder Adventure Card Guild

While Adventure Card Guild doesn't have a ranking system for GMs, mostly because it doesn't have GMs, we do have several volunteers that dedicate hours of their time testing mechanics and assisting in growing our organized play program. I would like to thank the individuals listed below for helping out above and beyond!

Tyler Beck
Eliandra Giltessan
David Jacobson
Ron Lundeen
Robert O'Hearne
Andrew Warner

Mummy's Mask Base Sets are speeding out of the warehouse and into venues, homes, and retail locations near you. Friday the 4th saw the release of Season of Plundered Tombs scenarios 3-1A & 3-1B. We continued the release pattern with 3-1C available for play last week. We anticipate releasing one scenario a week through May, skipping the week of December 28th. Once an entire Adventure Path is complete, we will make it available for sale on paizo.com. Check out our Pathfinder Society Event Listings to find a play location near you! If you don't find one, consider setting one up. I and the Venture Officer team are here to assist!

To have our names listed just below new Five-Star GMs is way more recognition than we deserve for our meager involvement compared to theirs, I assure you. We're just playing a game that we all love with awesome people who make that game. Thank you for mentioning us, Tonya.

Congratulations to all you new 5 star GMs!! Thank you for all you have given to both your local communities as well as the PFS global community.

To all of you who were listed as contributors to the advancement of the Adventure Card Guild, my thanks to you all for what you have done. Your efforts have made the enjoyment of the Adventure Card Game that much better as more and more material is released.

Congrats new 5 Star GMs. I hope to one day be as cool and knowledgeable as you guys. As for the Card Game GMs, I really wish there were more of you. Would love to sit down a play some day.

Just an FYI on a typo, JimCon was held in Winnipeg, MB.

Agreed! I appreciate 5-star GMs and the long hours and thankless work they put in. They really add 2 dice and the Magic trait to Organized Play. I'm just happy to be throwing in my 1d4-1. :)

Echo all of this. The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game (and the rpg) have brought so much joy into my life. Anything I can do to make them better and more likely to last for years and years is time well spent.

EDIT: Also, since we're using real names, mine is Elizabeth Corrigan.

Apparently, my Mummy's mask set violated the time space continuum to get to me in time for con. (The confirmation notice said it would leave paizo today, and get to me in 5-7 days. It arrived a week ago.)

Yarr!

Max grats, all the grats.

I'm really looking forward to getting to play Mummy's Mask, and the season of Plundered Tombs.

Working evenings and raising a baby have been making gaming tough but I'm slowly getting back into it.

Now just just need 2-4 other local yahoos with Wednesday afternoon's free and a Mummy's Mask box and I'll be set.

Congrats to all those mentioned above.

I want to especially congratulate Ian Hawthorne who organises my local lodge. He's an amazing GM and a wonderful person (even when he's trying to kill my character in Hell's Rebels)!

Five stars is a long haul.

Congrats to all, but I want to give a special shout out to Nikolaus Beattie, who many of us in Flaxseed know as Shifty. Shifty has been an inspiration to all of us in the PbP world. He's cheery, funny, and kind. He tirelessly organizes not only his own games, but also multi-table specials. He's mentored others in PbP. When there have been GMs who've dropped out due to real-life issues, Shifty has often taken on their games in addition to his own, and helped the players get to the finish line.

Huzzah to all who've made it this far. It's a great achievement, guys!

Two Comments...

Nik's one of several superlative GMs I've had the pleasure to play under, and his insight not only in game but also on mechanics and story flow have been crucial in some scenarios.

He's always communicating.

Even if he has to step away from the boards due to external obligations, he very much keeps on point and focused.

Also,

Stuffed COWS will be at College of DuPage in northeastern Illinois from November 25-27th, run by Cold Iron Conventions. Please check it out if you're in the area and not busy with the holiday madness.

Does that require one to be a follower of Cayden Cailean?

Thank-you Tonya. It's been an honor thus far (and I get to top the list of new 5-Stars to boot). I'll also be GM-ing my 200th* table to be reported this coming Thursday (11-17). It will be the very excellent From the Tome of Righteous Repose. If you have not had a chance to run this yet; DO IT!!!

*200th is not counting the dozen or so that the sign-in sheets vanished to the creatures of the void and never got reported. :)
