Signs and Portents

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Old and forgotten.
Can you hear the echoes?
Can you see the signs,
unearthed in ancient tomes?
Lost to the ages,
torn from history.

Portents of great power,
laying in wait for
all to see.
Yet none do.
They cannot witness,
even when the
signs are right
there, in plain view.

Only you can. The truth is
near. You can expose it.

Turn the page,
uncover the truth, but
expect to pay with your
sanity.
Darkness cannot
abide the light.
You must walk in twilight.

I'm going on lunch in 20. I really, really hope it's here when I get back...

Or I'm going to continue waiting.

That'll teach em.

Did someone summon you into a bucket and then kick it over?

My master is a cruel one, yes. This is the eight time this week. I also get thrown into Aqueous Orbs.

I know, right? His essence is starting to leak into threads he hasn't even been in.

I will tell you all what you need to know:

You must begin by becoming one who knows more than the wisest scholar and less than the raving amnesiac. Then you must purge the end of time from your existence. Only then will you know the way.

Are you really allowed to endorse drug use here on the boards like that?

Usual blog time is 12 PDT, however as I recall playtest ones are usually late, so expect it before 5 PDT. :)

Interesting fact: I have always imagined Jason Bulmahn as a very clever minotaur. The type that would build the maze they live in.

Oh god, I may never play anything other than Kineticist ever again!

I am happy to please!

But I need (playtest) details! How do each of your kineticists go. That sort of thing. For all five elements. And with composite styles like magma and metal kineticists. You up for it?

Any playtesting I get done will be in scenarios that I run entirely by myself. My group has hit that wall of "college and work takes up too much time" so I won't be getting much, if any, Pathfinder time in for the next year or so.

By the way, how often will you be able to offer quick clarifications? I noticed the Kinetic Fist ability doesn't specify allowing you a fast activation time than a standard action. So you activate it and then you can't attack with it and it fades at the beginning of your next turn. So until you hit 13th level, you won't be able to use it as that's when the Quicken SLA comes on board for 3 burn.

Does it not say "Use this form infusion as part of an attack action or full attack action "?

Oh, yes, yes it does. My bad, been up all night raiding in Destiny then waiting for the playtest. I made sure to make Tuesday my 'do nothing day' :P

Still, I think I'm going to take a nap and then come back and devour more of the playtest. Although, to be honest, I'm really only interested in the Kineticist, but it's always possible one of the other classes' flavour will grab my attention.

Let me just say, I am not a big fan of the use of "infusion". It's already a core game mechanic of an existing class and could lead to confusion for other players when determining how feats or abilities work, what's being referred to in a FAQ or discussion, etc.

Maybe try imbuements or some other word that conveys the same intent without tromping on existing terminology?
