Welcome Mark Seifter!

Surprise! Waits for shock to die down before continuing.

Hi, I'm Mark Seifter, the newest Pathfinder RPG Designer. Nice to meet you! You might know me better as Rogue Eidolon on the boards. Clearly a "Promoted Fanboy", I have plenty of experience in the field as a 5 Star PFS GM and have authored several popular products as a 3pp designer. Until now, I served with my girlfriend Linda as co-Venture Lieutenant of Boston (Boston Lodge represent!).

Here I am researching in Angkor Wat to ensure an authentic experience for my Jade Regent campaign

My roots are deep in the Paizo messageboard community, so expect to continue seeing me around in various threads as much as my new job permits. My experience has burned into me an insatiable desire to FAQ various topics, so expect to see those pick up as well.

You have no idea how much awesome we on the Design Team have in store for you, and with me on the team, we have more members than ever before. If we combine my new blood and enthusiasm with the experience and brains on this team, the world may not be prepared for the eldritch horrors we unleash!

Holy cow. Congrats, man. See you at PaizoCon for sure now, eh? and I guess we'll not be seeing you for TotalCon 2015....

Awesomeness.

Neat! Great work, Rogue Mark!

Grand Lodge

Great news and Congrats!

Liberty's Edge

Congrats Mark!

If I'm not mistaken, I believe I shared a shuttle van to the airport with Mark and his girlfriend a few years ago at PaizoCon. Both he and his girlfriend were very friendly and very personable - we had a nice conversation.

The competition was fierce but it sounds like the best man won! :)

Grand Lodge

Congratulations Mark! I remember meeting you at Gen Con a few years ago during my stint as Venture-Captain. I am always happy to see these kind of 'pulled from the fans' evolutions. Well done!

Boston will miss Mark and Linda. They have each added immeasurably to the enthusiasm and spirit of the Boston PFS group.

Plutarch remarked (in his Life of Pericles?) that it is a mistake to evaluate a leader by how sorely he is missed after he is gone, but instead a leader should be evaluated by how prepared and able others are to take on her/his role when that leader is no longer there. Mark and Linda made it easy for others to step up to play styles, always encouraged the widest range of GM and play styles feasible within PFS, and their excitement for the game is infectious. The Boston Lodge is sorry to see them go, but will not miss a beat!

In particular, I think of how happy and excited Mark and Linda are to see adventurer's innovate, and to come up with ideas and solutions which approach the problem in a unique way. When it is not immediately obvious how to do something under the rules, Mark happily explored his deep knowledge of the game for a means or method by which the player may attempts what s/he is trying!

Coupled with his joy for realizing NPCs of different character and his knowledge of Golorion, these features make Mark an ideal addition to Paizo's design team. I'm excited to see what they do!

And congrats to another 4-star GM, whose hard work in Boston has been recognized by placing even more hard work on his shoulders . . . Boston's new Venture Lieutenant, Ray Diaz!

Cool :) welcome aboard.

The darkest of horses. I'm extremely surprised at this decision, I was expecting an entrenched industry veteran to replace SKR. This is a pretty interesting shuffle of expectations, but part of me is really excited to see this for two reasons:

1) A fellow New England native!

2) Someone who wrote class guides.

#1 is wholly selfish in that I enjoy seeing my birth-state represented. But, #2 is more important. Those class guide are things I'm familiar with. Sure, it might not be a published product, but it shows a level of system mastery and attentiveness to rules that I want to see in a developer. This is something of a paradigm shift, and an exciting one.

I'm glad to have you aboard, Mark. Make us proud.

Gratz!

Seifer's pretty awesome on its own. I vote for using surname nomenclature!

Poor guy's gonna get confused with that jackass from Final Fantasy 8 if people keep leaving the T out. ;)

Hey now, he has some design credits! But you're right. He absolutely is the dark horse candidate.

Which should tell you all you need to know about his passion, design skills, and rules knowledge :)

Well, there we go, problem solved. He's now "Final Fantasy Mark" (I went for the nicer of the two options ;) )

Congrats, Final Fantasy Mark!

Congrats!!! If what I've seen so far from you is any indicator, the Paizo-team made a great decision! (And for cool, weird stuff à la Masked Reveler, Rite et al. still are there for more fringe designs!)

That being said - from what I've seen, I'm not surprised by Paizo's decision!

I know it's meant as a "joke", but here's a semi-serious answer. Kill the summoner and let the eidolon remain, as an UNFETTERED. ;)

It's an even better answer if you pull out your Bestiary 3 and check the picture of Unfettered Eidolon on page 111 :D

Uh oh. Well, as long as we don't approve that idea about non-Euclidean page layout from the last meeting, I should be in the clear!

Riemannian page geometry! Cool!

Pathfinder needs more tensor calculus.

man if i knew he was going to join the design team i would've been way nicer, that way when i explode on him when a FAQ doesn't go my way, its that much more emotionally crippling:)

*Blows dust off MIT degree.*

Tensor calculus, huh? I knew this thing would be useful somehow!

So, we've lost Rogue Eidolon, Yoda8myhead and Lilith only to gain Mark, Mark and Lix: is Lisa a phoenix-in-training?

Oh, yeah... congratulations!
