Please Welcome Our New Pathfinder Society Developer!

Friday, February 22, 2013

Today is an exciting day for Pathfinder Society Organized Play. Pathfinder Society has been given a new developer who will be dedicated solely to helping me strengthen and grow organized play. John Compton comes to Paizo from Atlanta, GA. This is not the first time I have worked with John. When I was the acting Venture-Captain in Atlanta, John was one of my store liaisons. The store where he helped coordinate, along with current Georgia co-Venture-Captains Kyle and Nani Pratt, has been the fastest-growing store and currently has the largest regular player base in Georgia.

John has as much passion about improving Pathfinder Society as I do. He brings some awesome ideas with him and I think all of you will be happy with the results. John will introduce himself and some of his goals in the Pathfinder Society blog post scheduled for March 4. Until then, I am sure he will have his hands full catching up with the plans we have already put into motion for the future of Pathfinder Society. Please join me in welcoming him to Paizo Publishing!

Congratulations, and welcome aboard!

Congrats John! It is not possible to express in mere words what you have meant to my personal PFS experience and to Georgia PFS as a whole. That being said, I am so happy that the whole of PFS will get to experience your creativeness, energy, and dedication.

Oh Captain! My Captain! Beware the Kraken!

Congratulations on the promotion, John! Best of luck. Look forward to meeting you at PaizoCon.

Welcome aboard, John! :D

Anyone else find this ironic? LOL!

By the way, he came over to my place for dinner last night and we chatted about the job and future of PFS for 3.5 hours. The campaign is in for a treat with some of his ideas and a ton of enthusiasm!

Liberty's Edge

Congratulations John, I look forward to your ideas! This is just great for PFS and I'm glad Paizo is behind PFS enough to hire another full time person. The future looks bright.

Silver Crusade

Congrats! I am excited because everyone else is.....I hope its tons of fun for all involved, and that somehow, someway, wizards get scribe scroll back. Woot!

I hope to meet John Compton some day. I've only heard great things! Maybe Nani can introduce us at PaizoCon?

Grand Lodge

Good luck John, anxious to know what those new ideias are.

Liberty's Edge

Yay John! John Good!

And Kyle wins the award for first smart-guy comment in the congratulatory thread!

We're all excited to see John getting this position. I foresee a strong push towards making sure role-play truly matters in all scenarios instead of being a brief intro before you enter the dungeon. I also see a GenCon special that starts at 8 a.m. and ends "oh, sometime in the future. It depends on how many of the 37 intimately described patrons of the puppet theatre performance you feel like interacting with. That's Act I."

It's going to be a big relief in Georgia when someone asks about a GM's style not to hear "he's no John Compton but..."

Congratulations again John!

Liberty's Edge

Conga Rats, John! I knew I should have made more trips to Atlanta. Missed my chance to play with you again! See you at GenCon!

And the PFS team gets even stronger! Welcome aboard John! Bring on the awesome! I dread to think how great season 5 is going to be.:) Fabulous news.
You think you dread Season 5 now? Just wait! Just. You. Wait.

I think I heard somewhere it'll be centered around the Worldwound? If so, I'll be very excited to jump in with my tiefling cleric of Iomedae. :D

Congrats, John! Your new adventure begins!

Sovereign Court

Huzzah and welcome! Less combat please! :D

Congratulation John!

Your energy, dedication, and awesomeness will be missed in Georgia PFS. Your GM playstyle is top-notch and I can't wait to see what you do towards season five. Hopefully, all of the PFS society can see the creativity and genius that you are at role-play.

Just a forewarning for all you poor souls. John LOVES harpies - there will be more harpies. *runs for his ear plugs*

Someday, when you least expect it, when you think I've forgotten about all the slights and laughed them off as a friend, I'm going to achieve sweet sweet revenge. There will be glitter, Kyle Baird. Mark my words.

Welcome aboard! Exciting news for all of us! :D

TWO DEVELOPERS! What an exciting time for PFS! I wish you all the best with the new job!

(I'm at a loss on how I missed this overlooked this thread over the last five hours.. heh. Unintentional.)

Thanks for the kind words. I trust the upcoming blog post will contain at least a few of my ideas for Pathfinder Society.

Being introduced to Kyle Baird was the one non-negotiable condition I named before taking the job. After not being introduced by Nani oh-so-many times, I feel like I'm really missing out on an essential PFS experience.

In other news, now that my profile name has been reset, I get that neat "you can change your avatar name until you have posted 10 messages" announcement again. I can't put in words how tempting it is to tinker with my official name.

You can't actually change that, John. Best to concentrate on what you can change, like the level of awesome in Pathfinder Society. And filling this empty desk next to mine with neat things. And pretzels. Mmmm, pretzels.

Lantern Lodge

Huge congratulations to you, John. It'll be great to see your ideas come to fruition. I can't wait. As Indon't think I'll be able to make PaizoCon, I hope to see (and finally meet) you come GenCon.

Congratulations John! You definitely deserve it!

Well, actually, it is one full-time developer. Mark was also developing the modules line, and we decided that doing that PLUS doing all the Society scenarios was just too much for one man, even one who has super-human powers such as Mark. So now PFS gets a full-time developer who can be mentored by Mark. Once John is up to speed, we have a ton of things to task Mark with, including all the stuff we originally hired him to do back oh so many years ago!

Very cool. Congratulations John. I'm sure whatever you've got in store will exciting.

Congrats John! Well Deserved! I'll see you again at Paizocon.

Congratulations! It's awesome to see when hard work and dedication are recognized. I suppose now that you're halfway across the country and running a game in some capacity, I'll have to feed you more wonderful terrible ideas. Breaking rule 1 was always and enjoyable tradition.
