We Be Goblins, You Be Food!

One of the hardest things about working at Paizo is not talking about the awesome products that are being worked on but haven't been announced yet. Especially when you're the marketing guy and it's your job to tell people about the awesome products that we're working on. This year's Free RPG Day release, We Be Goblins! is a perfect example of this; it's been in the works for months but I haven't been able to say anything until now.

We Be Goblins! is an adventure by Richard Pett for 1st-level characters in which you get to play a horde of malicious and murderous goblins that have stumbled upon one of the greatest treasures in goblindom—fireworks! Unfortunately, the tribe member responsible for the discovery has already been exiled for the abhorrent crime of writing (which every goblin knows steals words from your head). To remedy this situation, His Mighty Girthness Chief Rendwattle Gutwad has declared that the greatest heroes of the tribe must venture forth to retrieve the rest of the fireworks from a derelict ship stranded in the marsh outside Sandpoint in order to prove yourselves as the Licktoads' bravest goblins. And yet even once you've proven your mettle, the adventure is just beginning—for the ship in question is far from uninhabited, and Vorka the cannibal goblin would like nothing better than a few tasty visitors...

We Be Goblins! is a complementary adventure to August's Pathfinder Player Companion: Goblins of Golarion (which I also just announced right there—sneaky, eh?) and an optional prequel to Pathfinder Adventure Path's upcoming Jade Regent Adventure Path. This special 16-page Pathfinder Module will initially be made available as Paizo's contribution to Free RPG Day on Saturday, June 18. Print editions will be available for sale exclusively on paizo.com beginning the following Monday, and a FREE PDF will also be released that day.

Now is just under 6 hours, if you're bad at estimates.

I guess the fact that you can't read it yet must tell you something about my estimating skills.

I keep wondering why nobody's talking about this blog post, and then I remember...

You know, we briefly contemplating taking down the entire site and replacing it with a "Goblins have taken over Paizo and are forcing a decision" page for an hour before this reveal.

But that would just be too cruel.

(A snort combined with a snicker. Not an attractive response to this, but there it is.)

I will definitely be running a PBP of this as soon as it's available. Master of the Fallen Fortress was perfect last year.

I'M HAPPY TO HEAR OF THIS.

LET'S START A RIOT.

Is it wrong that I'm hoping for a picture of goblins waling on some of the Iconics in this?

Or iconics reincarnated as goblins....

Or just goblins is ramshackle iconic costumes!

Dark Archive

that would be awsome to have a goblin dressed as each of the iconics, with some of the iconics looking at them (throw a window or something) in disbelieve and fear!

I still can't believe it really is Richard "Skinsaw" Pett writing this...

Yay! Goblin party!

Bring the hot dogs and the horse d'oeuvres!

Pett + Goblins + Free = Awesomesauce. Groovy, bloody, sticky, gooey, drippy, delicious awesomesauce.

Thank you, Paizo, for continuing to rock.

Bree-yark! (Oh, wait. Is that OGL?)

Scarab Sages

This sounds absolutely amazing.

Reminds me of one of my favorite ideas for a product, Reverse Dungeon. While I wasn't amazed by the end product, I've nursed dreams of a monstrous humanoid campaign ever since.

Too bad this is free, because I want to give you money for it.

At least I can buy Goblins of Golarion!

Aside Burnt Offerings, which other PF modules feature goblins?

Classic Monsters Revisited (not a module, I know) and The Bastards of Erebus (small part) are the two that come to (my) mind.

Also, woot! Goblins :)

I've always had tons of fun in convention events where you could play goblins and other evil humanoids, I can't wait for this! Now if I can just find someone to run it so I can play it instead....

Though this is cool, What I loved last year was that the module could be run for PFS and I could introduce PFS to new players. Are you guys going to do something for PFS on Free RPG day?

!

Oh, me like this...

me like this a lot :)

awesome

I think this adequately sums up my feelings..

Scarab Sages

What are the chances that someone who wants to organize a Free RPG Day event around this adventure can get an early PDF to prep with? I might be able to get my favorite store owner to let me put up a poster of the cover and advertise to try and get a couple tables to play this adventure in-store that day. If I have the adventure ahead of time I can print out scaled color maps. The store could even raffle off or give away the maps I make that compliment the adventure. It would all advertise Pathfinder and PFS here locally.

I am so running this on Free RPG Day!

Mobilize the army.

There is an opportunity here.

Not only can Paizo present a solid Free RPG Day offering. They can also encourage their staunch supporters to run this adventure at game stores across the country. It is like using Free RPG Day as a platform for a nation wide "Come meet Pathfinder" event. Players both old and new who play through the adventure in store may be doubly encouraged to turn around and run it for their friends.

I think this is the best Free RPG Day product idea so far, Hollow's Last Hope notwithstanding.

Scarab Sages

SO looking forward to this! 8^)

Oh no... one of the people I RP with is going to be very happy about this. He tries to play goblin characters whenever possible and was even trying to have everyone play as them in Serpent's Skull (I told him it wouldn't work, lol).
