Hey all - let's keep the discussion on character selection going here. Once that's set, we can do some character intros in Gameplay and set the stage, and get rolling on the 13th.

Theodric Milan |
Theodric is a dagger wielding 9th level evangelist of Pharasma with a divine Dodo companion.
Mechanically he's an arcane trickster, so think light melee skirmisher with support wizard spells and ranged magical attacks.
Asmodeus Jones |
Yngwie is an Oni-Spawn Tiefling Abyssal/Infernal Bloodrager with a Butchering Axe and many natural attacks. Though his Will Save has gotten a LITTLE better, some still contend that he will inevitably be responsible for killing a party while dominated. I can't say that won't be the case. He also enjoys playing the guitar.
Lady Vivianna Albercroft is an information broker and archaeologist. Whether through research, subterfuge, or getting her hands dirty (which she isn't afraid to do), she gets the information she needs, sometimes with an artifact or two. They occasionally don't make it all the way back to Zarta's archive.
Jean-Claude is a staunch believer in "Liberté et Egalité" (in his outrageous Galtan accent). Through throwing any number of alchemical concoctions at his opponents, or simply leaping onto and climbing all over them, he enjoys hampering and debilitating enemies until they submit to the will of the people.

El Garrapata is a big blue brawler of justice who enjoys hugging monsters into submission. He's a fan of SUDDENLY CAPITALIZED WORDS and owns a sailing ship called the SPOOOON!
Minmaximus is destined for greatness, and regards all party members as his minions. He is a jerk, but he's also very good at killing things, so mostly his party members shrug and keep him alive... for now. Also he should never be allowed to speak on behalf of anyone even though he keeps trying.
El Garrapata |
Garrapata is a lot of fun to play. He did the first chapter of Skull and Shackles thinking it was a pleasure cruise for exercise buffs. He was very confused by the guy who got keelhauled, but convinced himself it was very clever theater in the round.

Wow, you guys are setting a pretty high bar to clear in terms of comedic value! I am looking forward to this more and more.
As for character choice, I don’t want to get overly meta - but the scenario isn’t one of those super-specialized ones where you’ll regret not having the magical trap-focused skill monkey or the ranger with Favored Enemy (nixie). There are lots of ways to solve the various problems it presents - though it is pretty fighty.
In short - play what you feel like playing and I’m sure everything will be just fine...
Jean-Claude Kerogen |
I'll bring Jean-Claude. Haven't played him in a while!
DM Khel |
Adam - looks like you haven't played Jean-Claude in PbP before. Would you mind picking an image for him, and putting a character sheet with the alias, so I know what he's about and have a mental image of him? And so I can stick him on a map!
Jean-Claude Kerogen |
Yep! Just couldn't do it on the work rig (for some reason the options for editing didn't show up). Working on it!
Jean-Claude Kerogen |
Et Voila!
Gorf Repus |
Alright, all leveled up. Also, it just occurred to me that I hadn't been using Deadly Aim or taking iterative shots. Gunslingers are gross. With some sneaky folk around, maybe I'll try out that nifty Startling Shot deed.
DM Khel |
It probably won't matter, as the Paizo site is rarely up these days, but I'll be at a local con this weekend and won't be posting much. I believe two others in this game will be there as well!
Theodric Milan |
The really dumb thing about haste speed interactions is that monk bonus speed is an enhancement bonus while barbarian fast movement is not :(
DM Khel |
So, there will be another encounter in a bit, and I wanted to check in again about the 4-player adjustment for it. As was clear, that last fight was easy for you, at least in part due to the invisibility. You may or may not have that advantage this time, so I wanted to see if you had a preference - keep the adjustment or get rid of it?
I can go either way, I just want to be sure this is fun for you - and if fun is a tougher fight, we can try that, and if it's taking a more cautious approach to ensure that the dwarves are rescued and the mission is a success, that's fine too.
Jean-Claude Kerogen |
I'm open to more opportunities to stab. And yes, things have been pretty straightforward so far.
DM Khel |
I’m okay with you guys having healed up, though very little damage was done by the foes who could not see any of you.
Gorf Repus |
Maybe I just misread something. I thought I'd seen Jean-Claude at ~30% health.
Jean-Claude Kerogen |
Yeah that was from the previous fight - didn't get touched in this one.
Gorf Repus |
Got it. Gorf got hit once, and would have asked Theodric to try to bop him with his wand a couple times, if we had time.
Theodric Milan |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
UMD DC 20: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 1 = 22
UMD DC 20: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 1 = 25
CLK: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (8, 7) + 2 = 17
looks like only 1 use needed.
DM Khel |
Hey all - we're still a little ways from done, but I will be traveling Oct 9-28, so I thought I'd get to thinking about chronicles sooner than later. So, could everyone give me PFS #, Day Job check, faction, and roll a d20 for your PbP Gameday boon?
If you roll a 19 or 20 on the boon check, please roll a d4 to see what your boon is.
Edit: also, I thought I'd let you know that it was very fortunate indeed that Theodric's acid arrow kept Thulmaga from activating her staff a couple of rounds back. She was using the last charges in the staff to cast dominate person, likely on Gorf, so you could well have had a dominated gunslinger working against you, rather than a friendly one on your side.

As a reminder, I'll be on a long work trip Oct 9-28. I'll still have internet access, but will have limited time to post and will be in a very different time zone.
Jean-Claude Kerogen |
Miss you already, DM Khel!
DM Khel |
I was closer to done with the chronicles than I thought - you can find them here.
Thanks for playing, all!
Oh, almost forgot to do this:
Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Thanks DM Khel for running!
