Note: I wonder why the Occultist doesn't have Perception as a class skill when the Paizo Occultist has both Perception and Sense Motive.

Scarab Sages

Cornel's character sheet is complete but for equipment (aside from indicating a light repeating crossbow in my weapons section, I haven't made any decisions about how to spend the 3000gp in character wealth).

Your campaign doc mentions that there is no crafting of magic items, except for alchemists being able to craft consumables. Are the usual suite of magic items still available for us to buy with character wealth, or do those non-consumable magic items not exist at all?

You can find places to purchase magic items, especially in Sartorique, so feel free to purchase what you can afford.

Also, I'm not sure why Perception isn't on the skill list for the Occultist. Let's assume that it is, and I'll fix the doc.

Question Vrog. What are good cultural names for the different nations? I'm bouncing around ideas for the Intori republic, but I'd like to not have something wildly at odds with your background.

I had briefly thought about that, but I'm not stuck in stone on any of these:

Intor: Roman/Greek
Erogalle: either Italian or French (I go back and forth on it)
Arcanirum: Not sure yet.
Sartorique: They don't have their own names, per se, but it is common practice to pick a name from the country you are descended from and change it some (so for example, you might change Maximus to Maxim)
Wildrunners: Native American (specifically things like "Dances With Wolves")

Erogalle: why not both?

So I decided that Erogalle is actually going to use European sounding names, and Arcanirum's names are going to be more Spanish sounding in origin.

Also, just a quick reminder that we have about a week left for submissions, so if you want to be considered, please finish up your applications. Thanks!

What do you mean with "European"? German? French? Isn't Spanish European? Sorry, those might be US concepts alien to me, if you don't mind a short explanation, that would be quite welcome.

By the way, Lazverinus is ready, though there is still some money saved that couold be spend on some potions or the like.

Quick notes on proffered characters:

@Jereru: Lazverinus is missing a story feat, and you should note which item is your Panopoly Bond. Other than that, you are good to go.

@Keante: Other than picking your Extracts, you are good to go.

I think that was everyone that I saw, but if I missed you, please let me know!

Also, reminder that we have about 3 days left to finish submissions.

Thanks!

Lysimachos is present, a RED haze often upon him!

An Intori (reluctant) berserker.

Mechanics in profile, still mulling over equipment and which of two story feats fit best.

Debating between a refluffed Accursed and Shamed.

Question. Both Berserker and Hunri worshipper gain Acrobatics as a class skill. Would it be possible to swap one instance of Acrobatics for a different class skill?

Appearance:

Lysimachos is a very tall, superbly muscled man, and yet graceful on his feet. Some would call him an exemplar of Intori martial nobility - if they did not look too closely. His dark brown eyes are surrounded with tension lines and his brown hair is thick and wild. His body covered in scars, the newer ones more numerous and ragged. He wears the holy symbol of Hunri openly over a fine hide shirt, to give others fair warning.

Personality:

Lysimachos tries to do good despite the "gifts" of Hunri, especially for his homeland, whether or not he can return there. He is not one to break down and wait for death, regardless of his circumstances. He is however willing to take great risks for swift victory, preferring lightning attacks beloved by the Intori. He believes there was and is a weakness in his soul that allowed Hunri to seize him, and he despises that.

Background:

Lysimachos was born the third son of a mid-ranking officer in the Intori military, a cadet branch of one of the twenty ruling families. His innate physical prowess and sheer willpower, combined with sufficient noble blood, meant that he gained great respect and many honours battling marauders and abominations alike. He made a few enemies, but none who would dare oppose him.

And then one day in the midst of a critical battle against a Benthali warlord, he prayed for victory over his foes.

Hunri took notice of Lysimachos - and granted him gifts.

In full view of the cream of the Intori military, Lysimachos tore into the Benthali ranks, a great thirst for killing upon him. He slew the Benthali warlord and broke the morale of the foe. But as the Benthali fled swiftly, Lysimachos' rage did not subside, and as his comrades-in-arms rushed up to support him, he charged at them with madness in his eyes.

He slew six before he could be disarmed and disabled.

Realising that he was now marked by Hunri, and in light of many years of great service, he was quietly offered a choice once reason returned to him. Kill himself there and then - or be turned out into the Benthali wilderness, never to return to the Republic.

In a heartbeat, Lysimachos chose the latter and vowed to somehow, someday make amends for his loss of control, his weakness.

Lysimachos: Looks good for the most part, but I feel I should warn you that most people will quietly leave if they see a worshipper of Hunri, and everyone who has any sense at all will be very polite to you, but on the flipside, most places are going to get you out of their business as fast as possible, and absolutely no one will serve you any form of alcohol.

TL:DR: everyone assumes that a worshipper of Hunri is either insane or a berserker, and consequently has no desire to deal with one at all.

Thing is, he doesn't want random people killed while he goes about his business. So he has reason to advertise. If that will be a huge obstacle, I can rewrite.

I'm leaning towards Shamed for the story feat.

1k gold right?

3000 gold =)

Vrog, I've selected my base extracts [2 + 4 (INT) + 1 (lvl 2) + 1 (lvl 3)]. I'm interested in spending some of my wealth on additional formulae for Cornel's formula book. How should I do it?

The cost to copy/write a 1st level spell is 10gp. The rules note that wizards (and by extension, alchemists) usually "charge a fee for the privilege of copying spells from their spellbooks. This fee is usually equal to half the cost to write the spell." So that would be another 5gp on top of the 10 from the writing cost. Then it's a matter of spending an hour and making a DC 16 Spellcraft check. Cornel's modifier is +10, so he can make it when taking 10. If you want me to roll I'll do that, though.

Assume that you can take 10 on your spellcraft checks to scribe extracts, and you don't need to pay for access to someone else's book, as it's a boon from the church (you would be accessing the church library instead of a wizard's book).

@lysimachos: I'm not saying don't wear the holy symbol, I just want you to be aware of the reaction that someone wearing a holy symbol of Hunri would likely get from most people.

Just a reminder that you have one more day to finish up submissions.

Ah, dammit. Told the story around the feat and then I forget to list it, lol. The feat is Unforgotten.

The Panoply item is listed as Nioku's bow, the longbow of a long forgotten hero, Nioku. Will tell something about her in the future.

Okay, so I am going to be closing recruitment when I get back from my real-life gaming today. Please make sure to finish up applications!

Huh, it's 1k in the first post. But I'm not complaining! :D

Will add a belt of strength +2 when I get back to a pc.

Taking Shamed.

Scarab Sages

Cornel's character sheet is updated with equipment choices, including 5 additional formulae added to his formulae book.

@Lysimachos: belt of strength is 4k.

@Everyone: Good morning. As of now, the recruitment process is finished. I'll give everyone who dotted that still wants to make a character until Monday to finish, and then make my final decisions at that point.

I am excited to get started!

So it is!

In that case, his mwk lucerne hammer becomes a +1, and his battleaxe becomes mwk.

Good evening. Just got back from dinner, and it looks like we've had no more last minute people jump in, so it looks like the following characters will join me in the discussion tab and then the game itself:

Lysimachos, Played by Decimus Observet
Cornel, Played by Keante
Lazverinus, played by Jereru

Thank you to everyone else for your interest, and hope to see you on the forums!

So the time has come for me to recruit 1-2 new people for this game. I'll repost the character creation rules here (since there are a few we're using); I've also linked the setting document, which covers the eight classes that you can choose from, each of which is a priest of a specific deity in the setting:

Here is the character creation info you will need:

Ability Scores: We will be using a modified version of Focus and Foible system here: you start with one 18 and one 8, and then roll your choice of either 1d10+8 or 3d6+4 for your other four attributes.

HP: Max HP at each level, including first.

Level: We will be starting at level 3, meaning that everyone except Shifters will be starting with 1000 gp to spend on purchases.

Traits: Traits will not be used. Instead, each character should choose a story feat that fits with their background and begin play with this feat. This is in addition to any feats a character might start with.
Classes: This is one of the two places where this campaign setting differs greatly from the normal Pathfinder setting. You must select one of the classes outlined in the campaign document listed above. Note that these classes can use any archetypes that don't violate their specific tenets.

Races: This is the other place where the campaign differs from standard Pathfinder. All PCs start as members of the Human race, but they don't get any benefits from their race. Instead, they select one of the three nations, Sartorique, or the Benthali Wildrunners to determine their starting racial benefits. Note that any class may come from any nation, but if you are any class other than Inquisitor and you select the Theocracy of Erogalle as your homeland, this means that you were exiled from the nation and now make your way in the world on your own.

Other Campaign rules:
“Elephant in the room”/Feat Taxes rules are in play.

Each class gains proficiency in the weapon group of their deity.

This campaign with not allow PC crafting of non-consumable magic items, and only specialty priests of Lithe may create consumable items (either magical or mundane).

We will be Using the “Consolidated Skill List” option from Pathfinder Unchained (we will not be using Background skills). Just as with weapon proficiencies, each specialty priest gains the favored skill of their deity. See each class entry above for the list of class skills and Skill points each class gets.

Alignment: spells and effects based on alignment do not exist in the setting. While we will still be using the alignment system, we will be using it as a gauge of how others view your actions, not your moral beliefs. Additionally, while you would likely have different alignments with different cultures and individuals, we will be using your alignment as a sort of “average” of how the world in general views your actions.
At character creation, you should select the alignment that best fits your current reputation. This means that your character can indeed start with an evil alignment, but that just means that most people, should they recognize you, will go out of their way to avoid you, since your reputation is one of murder and malice.

Other than Prestige Classes, there will be no multi-classing (including Variant Multi-classing). Additionally, the only base class options available to PCs are the ones listed in this document. While the other classes do indeed exist, they are not available to PCs.

Character options are limited to Paizo material. While I am open to most things that Paizo makes, below is a list of the character options that are not allowed. This is in addition to any mentioned elsewhere in the document:

*Pagent of the Peacock Masterpiece

Bump.

Bumping this again since I haven't received any response.

I'll be submitting a bard from Arcanirum Sufficoxi.

1d10: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
1d10: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
1d10: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
1d10: 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Sounds good. I look forward to seeing what you bring!

Welcome on board!

good news: I've also been pm'ed by someone with a potential interest, so we might well be getting two additional people.

Huzzah!

Guess I should roll some dice...

1d10 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
1d10 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Indeed. I look forward to seeing what you discussed, and don't hesitate to ask you if you have questions!

This is Trawets71 submission for this game.

How will versatile performance work with this simplifed skills list?

After reading gameplay it looks like you have an archer already. I can go dex melee as well to give the group more melee capabilities. Are we supposed to have 1000 or 3000 gp? I only spent 1k.

For both our new players: I will be checking over submissions tomorrow to see if there is anything out of wack, and then assuming there isn't I'll give the go ahead to join the game (you'll see a spoiler there for you).

for Laz and lys, I will get my post from Friday reposted.

Okay, I've looked at both submissions, and both look good.

@Miles: it was covered upthread, but you should have 3k gp.

For our new people, I'll have a post for you up shortly, in the same post as my existing one.
