The game starts on the island of Korthos, where a white dragon has just smashed your puny ship, sahuagin and cultists beleaguer the small village...

Wait this doesn't sound right.

Oh yea, this is Kortos, so no white dragons nor sahaugin. Wow, that "h" makes a major difference doesn't it. :)

Gameplay is ready for you to dot with a description of your character and what they were doing when they boy appeared, and of course, introducing yourselves to each other.

Also, lets keep ooc on this thread except dice rolls.

I'm giving monday night for the last two to start posting (will pm tonight), else I'll bring the last applicant in if she's still available.

Kind of funny how the opening was taken buy the players. I meant it as for the players to come together at the lodge with the boy to lead them as a group but funny how it didn't get across like that. :)

Sorry, I hadnt realized it had started. Kwannon got taken for another game but I have this druid and his trusty dino companion.

Alright, whoever is taking charge of the map to lead the way please give me a Knowledge geography or local check.

Taizen and the others, there are plenty of others to interact with if you desire, also, are you going to stay standing expectantly at the bar, relax and sit somewhere, or something else?

Okay, it is now monday and still no posts from anyone. I figure the weekend is slow but I'd kinda expect something by tonight.

I also notice Taizen has posted like once.This encounter just doesn't seem to be going very smoothly. It is almost ljke you guys are waiting rather than trying to interact.

So what do you guys think the problem is? How can we get past this?

Well for my side, I was talking to someone and never got a reply.
Maybe just continue with the plot and leave the talking.

Well my initial post in the bar received nothing so I had to awkwardly interject into Londo's conversation.

I have posted a few times but unless you want me to play the part of the patrons too then there isn't much I can do.

Wow, none of you has weight listed. That is rather surprising. In any case, your weight has an effect here, if you can please let me know what your weight's are.

Londo weighs about 180 pounds and has about 60 pounds of equipment

Sirius weights less than 140, add equipment 50 pounds and moves slowly

I'm randomly guessing Amaron isn't as heavy as Londo, so thankfully, the board didn't break. :)

Ok, so I was hoping to get a better idea of what everyone was doing in response (a lot easier in person), are guys expecting me to just go "RAWR!" and completely ignore the starting circumstances? I'm just wanting to know since I get the feeling your expectations are not exactly matching up with how I'm trying to gm.

You had stated that we heard something coming - we are sort of waiting for it to come.

Lol! Funny how things can be misheard even in text. I never said something was coming, I said dino smelled it wasn't sure about, and you heard a pebble move.

But in any case, I generally like to see how everyone is responding cause sometimes that affects how the encounter starts. Does everyone bunch together, spread out, investigate, freeze, etc? Also important if opening with Aoe abilities (not an aoe this time).

Okay, this is not starting like I was hoping. Not every monster is a jack in the box. It took me a bit to figure out how I wanted to proceed, and it took longer than I thought it had been so I'm sorry.

GM... maybe you should initiate combat und push the story!

There is no particular need for initiative in this particular case, as the spider specifically waited for your responses, and being pbp, it is block initiative, so all the players get to go, then the spider, etc.

Melee bite +6 (1d4+1), 2 talons +6 (1d6+1)

Three attacks, three dmg rolls. Each damage roll should have +1, but you added +2 (wanted to make sure there wasn't a typo somewhere or something I missed adjusting your damage bonus).

Also, you rolled two claws, which can only be done via full attack, therefore, a bite was available as well.

Side note,
Why in the fruitcake world is speed under offense? I swear those auto-generated sheets are the most horribly designed sheets ever.

Hello all, and sorry for butting in on something that is no longer my game (but since I was never removed it still appears on my list).
I do not know what you would want done, GM or players, to get this flowing more smoothly?
(I only say this because you started late August and we are now early November, and you are barely in the first rounds of the 1st fight ; this is a Game of the 1st slot of the GameDay, and the 2nd slot games are going to end in a fortnight). Technically speaking there is abandonment after 1 week of no GM action, but my feeling is you should come up with some plan, or voice thoughts of how to truly get the action flowing.
This is not an aggressive post, so I hope I am offending no one. My only consideration is that it seems there are cool players and an inventive GM, and it could be a great game, but seems to not be rolling along as it could or should...

I haven't done any "theatre of the mind" games in years but it makes combat a little more difficult on PbP. Without heavy GM interaction/expanded descriptions it requires us to make quite a bit of assumptions.

No quick solutions are coming to mind as this type of play is new to me in the PbP realm.

The website acting up also isnt a good thing.

This is GM Hmm, visiting in Venture Officer capacity. We generally define abandonment as a week with no GM posts. This game has several of those absences. It's tough to be a brand new GM, and pacing can be a challenge. Still, it's clear that this game is stalling.

I'd like to take the pulse of this game and the players. Who's still here? If we can find a replacement GM, would you be interested in continuing?

I am all for finishing if there are others that want to. I am sure that is what the little bird would want.

If the GM is replaced I am all for running through Wounded Wisp with this character but his pace and style was a bad fit for me and so I dropped

Londo, have you played any other games with the character since you left?

I had intended to but then didn't.

I still do want to run him through Gallows when it is run locally though which should be soon so maybe I should still back off.

Same here. If you get a decent GM I would love to do this.
I mean we are still at the first encounter after how many weeks. This is depressing. But I am not without hope!
