Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

Sorry about the thread title, I couldn't resist putting an evil pun title!

In all seriousness though, let me lay down the basics for you ladies and gentlemen.

If you haven't read through Way of the Wicked's Player's Guide yet, please do so. It will help you get an idea of the layout of Talingarde, the four major Houses of the land, the basics of the campaign, and all that other fun stuff.

This campaign is set in Golarion, so replace references of Mithra with the 'Shining Trinity', as they will be called: Sarenrae, Iomedae, and Desna.

There will be an 'empty role' that will be filled by an NPC of mine, so don't worry if you are missing a primary role.

My character creation rules differ a bit from the books, so please look below to see how these will be handled.

Alignment
You must be LE or NE, no exceptions.

Race
Rather than list every race allowed, let me just list those that are banned: Android, Gathlain, Ghoran, Grippli, Kasatha, Lashunta, Merfolk, Monkey Goblin, Shabti, Triaxian, Wyrwood, and Wyveren.

Starting Level
One.

Class
You can pick from any Paizo class on the SRD except for the Gunslinger. I will allow you to use the Gunslinger if you select the Bolt Ace archetype which changes it to use crossbows instead of guns. Stay away from things like Techslinger and Technomancer as far as archetypes go. Talingarde is a secluded island and the people there are more focused on their faith than any sort of technology.

*Barbarians and Bards can be LE.

*I may consider classes from the SRD. Ask first though.

Hit Points
Maximum for all levels. I extend the same courtesy towards monsters and NPCs.

Ability Scores
Use the Focus and Foible method from the book. Instead of using rolls for your other 4 stats, use a 25 point buy. I will also let you 'buy off' racial penalties to ability scores. It costs 3 points to buy off a racial penalty.

Traits
Two, plus your 'Crime Trait' from the WotW PG. no, I don't do Drawbacks, as people mostly pick ones that do not impact them in any way.

Skill Points
You get three extra Skill Points at each level. You also pick three extra skills to become Class Skills. You're welcome. :P

Feats
You get a bonus Feat at 1st, 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, and 20th level. That should ease the feat-starvation most PCs have.

Wealth
Well, you have the clothes on your back and a nice set of rusty iron shackles. Does that count?

.

Alright...if that's the case with the races, would being a fetchling/kayal be fine? If yes, could I use the Bound to Here and Subtle Manipulator alternate traits?

I won't be disappointed if I can't go kayal, it's a 17 RP race, which feels silly. I just like the premise, the stat mods, and the darkvision.

Lastly, I'm torn on this stat of 8. If I go with an 8 int or wis, how would that need to be played? I'm reading this: http://odd74.proboards.com/thread/3856/play-low-intelligence-wisdom and I don't mind my character receiving penalties in game but I don't want to have to stay silent or not utilize good ideas. If I would need to tailor my game play I would probably focus on a different build. I may yet do so anyway.

Alright, I've constructed the bones of the character. More to come soon. I have a background I'm shuffling around in my head. I don't want to reveal too much. ATM I don't have the character uploaded (I will when I've put finishing touches on) but I took a picture of the character sheet to send over to you in a private message.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

Fetchlings are cool for use.

I would have replied earlier, but driving up to my grad school took longer than I thought. Atlanta is a bit confusing at times with the way the roads are. I thought I took the right way and almost ended up in Kennesaw.

I'm going to tweak with the build and try it with a halfling and see what falls out.

I'm poking at the team to get them up and running. It's the weekend, though, but if they aren't in by Monday I'll call em up. Everyone has very recently expressed their excitement so it's just a matter of getting in gear.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

Here, take this to help you in your poking of players. *Grok's eye on a stick*

Male Human Warpriest/1

Sorry bout that! Was on vacation for a few days...

Anyway, I've always wanted to play a drow and I'm chomping at the bit here on this opportunity. Usually the light sensitivity is a problem but I think I can safely assume this group won't have a problem if I prefer we travel in the darkness.

DM, can you share a little backstory about the drow of Talingarde? I don't know if I'm supposed to play the backstory according to Forgotten Realms lore or what- in that case I would have to choose why a male received a divine blessing traditionally reserved for females.

I have a backstory ready even if that isn't the case. Working on my character sheet tonight. Do we post the sheet here?

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

Well, Talingarde is an island nation off the coast of Arcadia in this campaign, so the Drow here are Golarion's Drow.

There is a trait or feat somewhere that eliminates Light Sensitivity, so it shouldn't be a problem.

You generally put your statblock in your character's alias from what I gather. I don't mind if you link it in said alias though.

Male Human Warpriest/1

Any literature on Asmodeus, considering I'll be a warpriest in his name? I'd like to know his domains, favored weapon, etc.

Drow don't have common as a starting language- I wanted to confirm before I begrudgingly spend skill points on linguistics that I won't just be *gifted* with this most convenient of languages :-).

Good call on the light sensitivity thing; there's a Surface Infiltrator alt racial trait that ditches super-darkvision for low-light but gets rid of sensitivity.

I have a pdf of my character pretty much complete but I'll need some help translating it to whatever online receptacle we're using. I've never played-by-post before, or online really at all, so forgive the dumb questions when and if they come (if they haven't already).

Male Human Warpriest/1

Sheet is ready now. Let me know how to translate and I'll be good to roll.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

Well, for some reason my post is not here. Let's try this again.

This is a pretty good resource on the Lord of Hell. If you want more specifics, let me know in what area of the big A that you need information.

Drow need to take Common. Remember that you get bonus languages based on your intelligence.

Just put your statblock in your character's alias. If you need help with that, just ask me.

pKleck, I use myth-weavers sheets.

So down for evil pun threads. My apologies on the delay here—it's my anniversary with my husband and our last one alone before I push out our impending spawn. I've been AFK for the most part, and I realize that it's rude to have just left you hanging. I will be working on my character sheet soon—thank you so much for the additional information.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

So that's 3 out of 4 PCs! Have any of you managed to contact the last one?

Working on it. I may also have a fifth but it depends if a newbie is alright. I would take on teaching her the ropes behind the scenes, for the most part.

Please instruct.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

You know how to create an alias, right? Go to 'My Account' at the top of your screen and it shuld say something like ' messageboard aliases' or something like that. Just create an alias and post the statblock there.

Newbies are alright, so long as they will stick with the game. Think she's up for it?

I do. Finding time for the initial push of building a character is the only obstacle but we're working on finding that time.

Are we going to have a persistent roll20 board for combats?

-Barry checking in. I'll form a character in a few.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

We can handle combat right here on the boards. I can post some maps on Google Drive that are editable, so you can move your PCs around.

That's what I meant for roll20: Just a map. Google it is!

Can I use the unchained rogue instead of the standard? I just discovered them 60 seconds ago so I may be confused but they seem to be just reworked, not superpowered. If I have to go standard, I'm fine, but if I may look, I would consider based on what I'm seeing there.

Male Human Warpriest/1

There's no space for a bulk of text there or anywhere else in the settings. Strange considering this is a message board...

These are the only options on the alias edit:

Something to be mindful of, all: literally all of us are high-charisma characters (unless the warpriest doesn't call for it and you have foregone that stat, pKleck. I'm basing my understanding on the cleric's need in turning undead) so everyone try to share some spotlight when the time comes. It's not necessary for every conversation that everyone get a word in, but I find it unlikely any single person will become the face in most circumstances.

We have a party composition and it goes a little something like this, when considering the sneak, divine, arcane, warrior archetypes.

Rogue A: 100% sneak
Rogue B: 100% sneak
Warpriest: 50% divine, 50% warrior
Sorceress: 100% arcane
Bard: 25% sneak, 25% divine, 25% warrior, 25% arcane

Total ratio:
2.25 sneak, 0.75 divine, 1.00 arcane, 0.75 warrior

For combat capabilities?
Rogue A: Melee
Rogue B: Ranged
Warpriest: Melee
Sorceress: I don't know the build yet. Usually ranged and/or support.
Bard: I don't know. Usually support, though.

We're a little weak in the divine and the warrior. Be careful out there, folks. Especially since both of those things are mostly concentrated in one person haha

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Female Human Hunter 1

Hi y'all. Muniba checking in.

Character is done. where shall i post it?

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

Unchained Rogue is fine.

Regarding statblocks, those go in your alias. There is a single big area to put your statblocks and such in. I will make an example in my DM alias to show you how it works.

WotW is one of the few APs that can work effectively with a group light on a few things. For one, the group gets a follower that they can switch in between books. For another, there is plenty of healing items for loot.

My sorceress will be ranged, fwiw. I don't mess with that support ish.

Alice: Sweeeet. All: Moon is changing from rogue to hunter, fwiw. Merc: haha word. Alice: Are we going to utilize party initiatives? You know, we all roll, one team goes first, the other goes next? It would change the combats oddly but it would let us post at leisure a bit more and keep you from needing to log in 18 times to reply to everyone.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

I will roll all initiatives to keep things at a brisk pace.

Here's how combat will work: I roll everyone's initiative and checks for acting in a surprise round, if that is necessary.

Then everyone posts.

If no one has posted by the deadline that you gave, then I post on a duplicate alias that I make of their PC.

Everything resolves when I make my next gameplay post.

Does that make sense? It sounds more complicated than it actually is.

Example:
Step 0: Party gets the jump on a creature. I roll each PC's initiative, plus the monster's initiative. If the monster can both act and hits initiative first, I post for it so that PCs can respond to it faster.

Step 1: PCs take actions. If no PC has posted by the deadline, I post for them.

Step 2: Once all PCs have posted or once the deadline is hit, everyone's actions resolve, monster's included, in order of initiative.

Step 3: Combat continues until a resolution is made one way or the other.

I will retcon stuff if people use immediate actions, swift actions, or something like that in response to a resolution, no problem.

Make more sense?

Male Human Warpriest/1

Combat seems simple enough. No problems here!

Sam, you mentioned charisma- it's my lowest stat. Warpriests don't turn, thus, don't need it. I'll let you all handle the charming; I'm not so subtle ;-)

Male Human Warpriest/1

Also- it should be noted that I live in Los Angeles. I believe I'm the only one NOT in the Eastern time zone so we may notice this in the late evening or early mornings.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

I noticed, but I have no problems with it. Just keep up posting and it's all gravy.

For initiatives: makes sense. And cool, pete. I guess that means diplo will primarily come from Mun, Barry, and Mercer. I've got bluff covered. But, again, that's only for when we game mechanically.

I'm almost done with my sheet (I need to update it to include the unchained stuff and some racial traits.) I'm almost done working with Mun on her sheet (she has to choose her spells and choose 3 more class skills) and then I have to throw together her animal companion (I'm almost done) then we have to write up our character backstories, which we both have generally fleshed out in our heads, anyway.

I don't know what day 1 for us will be by I should be done by tomorrow but perhaps Friday.

Dark Archive

Female Undine Sorceress/1

Alrighty, then. @Alice: combat sounds fine to me. I've gone ahead and made an alias, but found that I had to make a separate PFS character in order to be able to include all the good stuff. I've done so, so you'll find my stat block along with backstory in there.

Please let me know if anything is missing, or you're keen to know other info.

EDIT: This is Mercenator, by the way. I assume that you've figured as such, but did want to clarify. :]

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

Alright then, that's three characters who are mostly complete.

Mun's, mine, and Persea are all complete except for written backstory. You have the links for Mun and I.

Dark Archive

Female Undine Sorceress/1

I've done written backstory. Mine is in my character along with my stat block. If you'd like me to post it here instead, let me know.

Male Human Warpriest/1

Done here as well. Will be putting statblock in alias tonight so consider me 100% for tomorrow.

Male Halfling Rogue 1

Statblock done. Sheet linked in profile.

I am so excited.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warpriest 1

Still haven't seen that stat block input box in the aliases. I copied the format some folks on a different campaign use for the time being...

FYI- this is pKleck (Pete)

Female Humane Hunter 1

Hey Pete: Click your name up top, then go to your aliases, then go to Om'reth's name. Go to the leftmost tag, "Profile," and input it all there.

I'm all set to go.

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

So we're still waiting on one person, right? Or did the potential new player decide on joining as well?

No problem either way, just wondering on a general timeline when we can get this evil party started! >:D

Dark Archive

Male Human Warpriest 1

Thanks Moonster! I used your sheet to copy mine and noticed something, though (don't hate me):
You have to take Point Blank Shot before you can take those archery feats you selected there.

Good to go now! Badass here:

Barry is not the potential fifth player. He was one of the originals. The potential fifth is Moonster/Helena. Barry knows to check in but has been busy moving this week. Although the move was expected, the timing wasn't. He said his character is all set up above, though. He just asked where to post it.

Everyone else's characters are posted. We could probably get started once you've made sure everyone's characters are on the up and up.

Pete: That was my bad with the feats. Thanks for the heads up. Fixed it.

I think we can consider ourselves ready to get underway.

Male Human Warpriest/1

SO pumped!

Male Human Warpriest/1

Here's some great Asmodeus literature for any of you interested, with a bonus fantastic image right on page one. Considering I'm the unholiest of us I'll be reading it front to back but just in case you want a skim here it is: http://sgochtovtt.free.fr/Dieux/Asmodeus.pdf

Female Human...ish? Too high for you!

Everyone that is ready, make a dot in gameplay.

Pete, could you lessen your headline info to not include your stats on every post?
