The Swallowtail Festival begins promptly, as scheduled, on the Autumnal Equinox. The square before the church quickly becomes crowded as locals and travelers arrive, and several merchant tents featuring food, clothes, local crafts, and souvenirs are there to meet them.
The turnout for the opening speeches is quite respectable and everyone is excited to hear the four keynote speakers deliver their welcomes to the festival.
Mayor Deverin steps up to the platform to hearty applause and cheering with several whistles. He waves genially as he begins, "Hello Sandpoint! An exciting time for all, yes indeed!" The excitement the Mayor gives off seems contagious and there is another short round of applause. "Welcome, welcome all! To our lovely citizens, thank you for many years of support in making this new building-and this event-possible! It is sure to be grand. To our visitors: please enjoy yourselves and we hope that you enjoy Sandpoint! I think you'll find that every one of our friendly citizens is out to celebrate this glorious day. Why, we even managed to tear Larz Rovanky away from his tannery!" Everyone laughs and turns to a man leaning against a pole at the back of the crowd. He does not look nearly as amused as the rest of the crowd.
The Mayor finishes his speech and is cheered off the stage to be followed by Sheriff Belor Hemlock, a Shoanti man who inherited his post after the previous holder was murdered. The crowd's enthusiasm dies down somewhat as the Sheriff reminds everyone, "Now, I know we all want to have a good time and celebrate but I'm here to remind everyone to be safe around the evening's bonfire. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves I'd like to ask a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives in the fire that claimed our previous church." The crowd's melancholy and solemnity is palpable as everyone reminisces on the tragedy."[/b[
Sheriff Belor Hemlock finishes his speech saying, "Now, I was to be followed by our own local nobleman Lonjiku Kaijitsu, but I have been told that a sudden illness has prevented him from attending the ceremony this evening." There are some smirks among the locals and you overhear someone whisper, "Sure. Old Lonjiku just has a general dislike for anything frivolous or happy. He's probably brooding away in his mansion like usual."
As the Sheriff exits the stage, a colorful figure runs up to follow him to a rousing cheer from the crowd. The man seems to have had the effect of completing returning the enthusiasm and excitement lost during the Sheriff's speech. "Good day everyone, good day!" You hear several whispers, "Old Cyrdak Drokkus-quite the showman!" Cyrdak continues with quick recap of the long process the town went through to finance and construct the new cathedral. His anecdotes are far from dry, however, and it is clear that he has a pension for drama. "And, of course, I'd like to invite everyone everyone to stop by the Sandpoint Theater tomorrow evening to check out my new production of The Harpy's Curse. The lead role of Avisera the harpy queen will be played by none other than the famous Magnimarian diva Allishanda!"
As Cyrdak exits the stage, he is followed by an older priest whom everyone recognizes as Father Zantus, the local cleric of Desna. "Thank you all for coming once again. I won't attempt to outdo my predecessors on the stage and so I will keep this short: enjoy yourselves! I declare the Swallowtail Festival underway!"
Okay guys, let's start with the PCs introducing each other! I assume that all but Azzerix are already in Sandpoint, with the kobold starting to enter? If you wanna do something different, Azzerix, please let me know. I'll probably not be back on tonight, so you guys go on and start if ya want.Let the games begin!
-Rane |
Rane stood at the edge of the crowd. He was really attending against his better judgement, he wasn't that comfortable with crowds, but the Hagfish Tavern had closed down just an hour before, and there wasn't a whole lot to do in Sandpoint. Besides, slinking off into the wilds without at least having a looksee at the festivities would just have been too sad, really. So here he was, a grubby ranger, waiting to see what happened next.
He grunted in distaste as Cyrdak got on stage. What a tool.
Ashleaf |
Ashleaf walked through the crowds, happy to just be there. Not much happened in Sandpoint that was as fun as this, so he was glad to be a part of it. He clapped at each presentation, and looked to enjoy the crowds. He definitely would be there for the performance, as the diva was quite fetching, and it wasn't every day that he could get away with staring at pretty ladies for an hour or two.
Jarro sat on the tall man's foot, licking a forepaw and looking completely disinterested.
After the presentation was over, Ashleaf turned around looking for anyone he knew well, although admittedly there were few. He'd always found it difficult to make friends, apart from Jarro, who was looking slightly annoyed that Ashleaf had moved his comfortable foot.
Tarnok |
Tarnok threaded his way through the crowd, doing his best to ignore the prickling of unease on his skin. He had never enjoyed the big group get-togethers back home--and those groups were usually no more than eight or ten people, all of whom he knew by name. There were more people gathered for this festival than he had met in his life before leaving his tribe. Since then he'd spent time in larger cities than Sandpoint, but he still couldn't help but feel that the natural way of things was to be out riding in the steppe, miles from the nearest other human being.
He jolted forward suddenly, stumbling as a weight crashed into his back. He whirled around, readying himself for a fight, only to relax when he saw a farmer holding his hands up in apology. There was nothing but contrition on the man's face.
"Sorry, buddy. I may have started the festival a little early," the man said, gesturing with his tankard for emphasis. He paused, squinting slightly. "Hey, nice tattoo. Where'd you get that done?"
Tarnok regarded the man evenly for a long moment, then turned and walked away. He may have left his tribe, but he was hardly about to share its secrets with outsiders.
Some customs of civilization were easier to adopt than others. Tarnok made his way to the the gaily decorated tent and exchanged a few coppers for a pint of ale. He sipped the watery beverage as he walked forward, positioning himself at the edge of the crowd with his back up against the raised platform the speakers had been using earlier.
Having something solid at his back helped take the edge off, as did the beer. Watching the people he didn't know swirl about, laughing, dancing, and carrying on... it was soothing. He fell into a game of trying to guess each person's profession as they walked by. For the most part, it was straightforward: farmer, farmer, farmer--
Gorum's balls, what was that?
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
Indeed. I was going to have Azzerix only just arrived in town and hiding behind a stack of crates to observe things. He is just deciding what kind of disguise he should go with at the moment.
Towards the back of the crowd, hiding quietly behind a bunch of old crates and peering over the top at the festival. "How nice of the softskins... they must've heard of my arrival and arranged a welcome party! So eager for my rulership, hm? I should approach the stage and surprise them... but what to disguise as?"
His little yellow eyes look around at the various humanoids assembled, observing which one would be the most shocking... but he quickly ducked down when he thought he was being seen. Shouldn't ruin the surprise, after all. Perhaps a human child... wouldn't that be a shock to see a mere child turn into his majestic form?
He curled up and scrunched his face in thought, pondering what would be the best choice... perhaps white hair. And red eyes. Yes... a distinct little boy... hrm... or maybe a girl would be a greater reveal?
KoolKobold |
Wow, loving the posts!
Rane
As Rane stands from the back of the crowd, a young lady with red hair walks towards him with a small smile. "Excuse me, my good sir, but you don't happen to be the man who delivers those furs to my Daddy, aren't you?" she asked sweetly, but with an odd tone to it.
Ashleaf
The half-elf was getting the attention of a few young women-or, more specifically, the half-elf's cougar. One of them-a young Varisian maiden with ebony black hair-cautiously walked up and asked Ashleaf, "Um excuse me? I have some fish that I can...give to...him. She indeed holds a plate of cooked salmon and looked down at Jarro with a small, cautious but curious smile.
Tarnok
I assume he saw a certain lizard man?
"Hey pal! a scrawny farmer asked him, holding a mostly empty mug of ale, "What ch'ya lookin' at? Cause all I see is just some barrels! Think they're full of monkeys or something?" It seemed quite obvious that this man was drunk-or at least, beginning to get drunk.
Azzerix
The kobold was lucky to have duck when he did, for some kids were running around and playing. One boy stopped to look at the barrels, only to see a cat run out and giggled, chasing after the feline before it becomes stingy and chases the kid.
Tarnok |
There was a pregnant pause.
"Well," Tarnok said, handing his half-full tankard to the farmer, "if I don't look, I'll never know."
The farmer seemed more attentive to the beer that had appeared in his hand than in the barbarian's words, but Tarnok paid the man little mind. In the last month he had had cause to doubt his worth as a member of the tribe. He had had cause to doubt the source of his strange powers. He had had cause to doubt whether the gods still smiled on him.
This was the first time he had had cause to doubt his own sanity. So it was with some trepidation that he made his way over to the seemingly innocuous pile of barrels.
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
After a moment, from out behind the barrels, a human girl walks out and falls in line with the other children, though her blue eyes continue to dart up to the stage. After a while, she breaks away and moves through the taller humans towards it.
Something about her seems off though... perhaps it's the long, snow-white hair reaching down to her shoulders? Or perhaps the fact that when she pushes her way past folks, demanding passage through, she does so in a sort of... scratchy voice. Almost yappy, actually. Like a little dog barking.
...it's probably nothing to worry about.
Ashleaf |
The tall man looked somewhat stunned as he was approached by the girl armed with fish. He sheepishly put his hand behind his head, scratching his longish hair. "Sure," he managed to blurt out after having to avert his eyes to calm himself down. This party had only been going for a few minutes and a girl already talked to him. This was one of the best days ever!
Jarro answered much more eloquently, with a tail straight up for interest, he spun in a circle as to demonstrate his orange streaked black coat, and his natural grace. The cat sat down again on Ashleaf's foot and lifted one fore paw, using it to beckon the fish closer.
As Jarro was doing his best to procure free food, Ashleaf did notice a strange little girl wandering about the party. Something was off about her, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He took that thought and put it in one of his mental pockets for later review. He was sure the young raven haired damsel in front of him required more attention. If only he could thing of something to say.
KoolKobold |
Tarnok
"Eeey, thanks!" the farmer slurred, grabbing the Shoanti's tankard.
"Easy there, Vomik," a feminine voice said from behind Tarnok-a woman with black hair that was died a whitish hue in front with a serpentine tattoo on her upper left arm, "Ya don't wanna go vomiting during the Swallowtail Festival now. Hey big guy, we're selling out curry-spiced salmon and winterdrop mead for free. Want some?"
Ashleaf
"Oh he is so cute!" the raven haired woman said giddily, as she handed the piece of fish to the cat. Seeing this, the other women decided to walk over and gingerly and slowly reached out, giving the cat various meats from lamb to gamefowl.
Azzerix
Is the blue eyed girl a random thing or what? I'm just a bit confused by what you were conveying there.
Edit: Figured out what was going on
Although a few people take notice of the disguised kobold, no one really makes any point to wonder up and ask about her...odd eyes. Except for one elderly man, who the 'girl' bumps into.
"Oh hello little girl," he half chuckles as he looks at her, only to notice her blue eyes, "Huh...never seen human eyes in that shade of blue. Don't think I've seen you round these parts either. Wh-Where are your parents?"
-Rane |
K:Local: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
He throws her a guarded look, but returns her smile with a small one of his own. A friendly face. How nice. He nods at her. "Yeah, that'd be me. You're mr. Vinder's daughter, aren't you? Pleased. I'm Rane."
KoolKobold |
Tarnok
"Alright then!" the lady smiled, handing the Shoanti man a plate of freshly cooked fish, "I think I may have seen you once, but I'm not quite sure we've met. I'm Ameiko, owner of the Rusty Dragon Inn. You?"
Rane
"Yes, I'm Shayliss Vinder," she smiled sweetly, "I...don't suppose you wouldn't mind a dance and something to drink? Everything's free, from what I've heard."
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
The little girl pauses as the old man inquires about where her parents are. He stares back at for a moment, before scowling a little and growling back at him. "Shouldn't you be more worried about your own parents? Where are they, hm!? I have somewhere to go, out of my way!" she snips back, her voice a bit... yippy. And scratchy. And deep for a little human girl. And then she pushes past, moving closer to the stage area.
...eh, it's probably nothing.
Disguise (I think?): 1d20 + 3 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 10 = 29
KoolKobold |
Azzerix
The old man gawks at the girls behavior...and voice...but dismisses it as his age making him hearing voices. "Kids these days. No respect for their elders..." he grumbled as he walked off.
Several other people were now noticing the little girl, but none were coming close to her, somewhat confused on her attitude.
-Rane |
This was untested territory. He stuttered a little as he replied. "I erh.. No, I wouldn't mind." He was almost blushing. Racking his brain for something more to say, and coming up empty, he simply took her by the arm and lead off to the dance floor.
KoolKobold |
Rane
The girl smiled as they headed towards the dance floor, and although she was smiling, her eyes seemed to dart around from time to time, as if keeping an eye on someone.
Tarnok |
Tarnok focused on his dish. It smelled appetizing enough, but he'd never seen a pink fish before. Still, if everybody else was eating it at least he was unlikely to suffer harm. He took a bite. The flavor... the spices... truly, it was like nothing he had tasted.
He decided he liked it.
After a moment, he realized he had been asked a question.
"Ah, yes," he said, pausing to clear his throat. "I have been visiting Abstalar Zantus."
KoolKobold |
Tarnok
Ameiko just laughed a bit. "Well, that answered a question I was gonna ask ya, but not what I asked. What's your name?"
Nearby, a half-elf with a similar hair color and skin color to Ameiko looked at the Shoanti man with uncertainty while giving out salmon and mead to other residents.
Azzerix
As the 'little girl' tried to climb up onto the center stage, a man tried to stop him. The kobold-in-disguise probably saw him talking earlier-something along the name of Akbar or something similar.
"Hold on know, little one," he chuckled, setting her down, "If you wanted to see the Swallowtails get released here, you should have asked me first. I'd be glad to let you see them from the stage."
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
Azzerix wheeled about and nearly started to growl at whoever dared to impede his progress... but at the Akbar fellow's words, he smiled, pressing his fingers together. "Yes... yes of course. I would love to see the birdies. On the stage. Lead the way, sof- er, s...sssssirrrrr?"
KoolKobold |
Azzerix
The man laughed softly, lifting her onto the stage. "Little one, they are not birds we're releasing, but butterflies-we release them once a year in celebration of the blind child who rescued an injured Desna back to health. The child was turn into an immortal Swallowtail butterfly as a reward for the child's actions. Surely this isn't your first time at the Swallowtail Festival now, is it?" It was by now that the man could see the girl's face...and something was wrong. "Oh my, your skin looks a bit...rugged. And your eyes are an unusual hue. Are you alright?"
He has no idea xD
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
Azzerix stumbled slightly onto the stage, dusting himself off and smiling again. "Oh yes, everything is perfectly normal, I promise." The smile weakened a little as he continued on, trying to change the subject. "So... this festival isn't to celebrate the arrival and rulership of our new majestic dragon?"
Ashleaf |
Jarro seemed to drink in the praise as fast as he inhaled the free food. Ashleaf patted his sleek coat and gave him a solid thump when he licked his chops at the ladies as they ran out of food. "No biting!" he reminded the firepelt. He still had scars from when they first became friends, but it was worth it. He'd never had so many beauties around him at one time. Maybe he could teach the cat some tricks to gather more attention, but how would he handle that?
KoolKobold |
Azzerix
The man smiled a bit, but his smile quickly morphed into confusion. "What in the world are you talking about? Arrival and rulership of a dragon? In Sandpoint? I don't know where you've heard of that, but there's no dragon here; I believe the closest one may be miles away from here, resting in a cave filled with it's stolen treasures."
He then gave the 'girl' an odd look. "You truly are a strange one...Who are you? And where are your parents, little one? I believe they're concerned for you."
Ashleaf
The ladies backed up a bit as he told the cat not to bite. "He...he isn't dangerous, right?" a brunette woman asked. The raven haired maiden looked at Ashleaf and blushed, "I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce us. I'm Ateria, this is Magony," she smiled, referring to the brunette, and then pointed to the blonde next to her, "And that is Amathelea. Who are you two?"
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
"There is too! His name is Azzerix... Azzerix the Winterbreath! His scales are like a glacier of magnificent ice! His breath could put the northern winds to shame!" He paused a little, perhaps considering he should dial back his own praise a little. "Erm... I heard he was coming, and I wanted to see him!"
The little girl looked around a bit at being asked about her parents. Her eyes scan the crowd for a bit, trying to find a suitable set of softskins to serve as fake parents. "Uh... there! Over there, at the table!" she cried, pointing at the woman with white hair speaking with the strange tattooed man. He recalled him... he tried to ruin his surprise! They looked as good a pair as any. "They said I could come up and see the dr- butterflies! Can I still see them?"
KoolKobold |
Azzerix
"Did they now?" the man frowned a bit, returning a smiling gaze to the 'child', "I am sorry little one, but there will not be a dragon coming around anytime soon. At least I pray one does not come around. You are still allowed to stay on the stage to see the butterflies, but please, do try to not cause any trouble."
He walked over to the lady and the man she was talking to with a small scold. "Ameiko, I know it is nice of you to tell kids stories, but please, don't try to tell them a dragon is coming. We don't want to start a panic."
"What are you talking about, Father Zantus? Who told you a dragon was coming?"
"That little child on the stage. She said that this man here had given her permission. Who-wait, Tarnok?"
I'm assuming that Tarnok and Father Zantus know each other
Tarnok |
Yeah, I wasn't sure if they use the "Father" terminology in Golarion or I would have broken it out earlier.
"Yes?," Tarnok said, before his eyes narrow as he looks at the little girl. Something about her... he shifted slightly into a more balanced posture, and set down the plate of food to free his hands.
KoolKobold |
Tarnok
"Are you familiar with that girl? She said that you and Ms. Ameiko can climb up onto the stage."
"Oh, so you know Father Zantus?" Ameiko asked the Shoanti man, "And honestly, I don't even know that kid, let alone told any kid that a dragon was coming along, or saying that she can climb onto the stage."
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
Finally! Alone at last, the little girl smiled as she moved center stage, holding up her hands to try and gain as much attention as possible. "People of Sandpoint! I have something very important to announce!" she shouted as loudly as possible, apparently dropping all pretense of trying to sound like a little human child.
Tarnok |
Tarnok's hand flexed, moving to his belt before he remembered that he had left his crossbow behind at his campground. He held back a curse, instead settling for shooting a glare at the priest who had assured him that the festival would provide a perfectly safe evening of entertainment.
Ashleaf |
Ashleaf started to really worry that he already messed things up. Scaring off the pretty ladies was not something he had wanted to do today, but it was also quite likely. He just lacked the knack for dealing with them. Rather, he knew what to do, how to talk to them, but it just ended up not coming out right. He stammered a quick "'S okay." but ended up just looking uncomfortable.
Jarro also was upset, because the attention and food dried up. He stood up and did his very best interpretation of a house cat and meowed. His meow didn't sound much like a house cat, and was rather low pitched, but he followed it with a purr.
Jarro looks like this, except his coloring is black and orange instead of tan and white.
When the young girl stood up to make her announcement, Ashleaf took notice. She didn't look like any locals he knew. It didn't hurt to be wary of such things.
KoolKobold |
Tarnok
"Tarnok, don't be angry at me! I-Oh for the love of..." the man sighed, racing towards the stage.
Ameiko looked on with Tarnok, then told him sternly, "It's not his fault, you know. Chances are, that kid's just causing a bit of trouble."
Ashleaf
The girls just cooed in "Aw! He's cute!", as Amathelea raced off to grab more fish for the cat as the other two women gently petted the cat's head, backing off if he showed signs of aggression.
Ateria looked up at the half-elf man and smiled, "I've seen you two walk into town from time to time. Are you from around-"
Before she could finish, their attention was drawn towards the stage, where there was a...little girl?
Azzerix
The 'child's' calling for attention has indeed drawn upon a many faces of curiosity-though most of the faces had a twinge of confusion. Azzerix could already see the man from before racing towards the stage, trying to struggle through the slowly forming crowd.
"Child!" he cried out, clearly not in a good mood, "Get down from there now! Who are you?!"
Just gonna wait for Rane to reply-haven't heard from him in a while
-Rane |
Sorry. Got caught up in recruitment for my other game.
Rane grows increasingly worried as he dances with Shayliss. What if her farther got upset? He'd end their business relationship, and the other merchants might wonder why, and with a bad reputation it was always hard to get someone to buy your wares. He might even have to get out of town because of it. When the dance comes to and end, he takes a step away from the girl. "Thank you, Shayliss. It was a lovely time. But I'm afraid it wouldn't do for us to be seen together like this."
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
The little girl perked up a bit, looking towards the man calling out to her and smiling. "I am so glad you asked!" she replied, before holding her hand up to the sky. "People of Sandpoint! You have a new majestic draconic ruler!"
The girl's hair whipped a little in a non-existent wind as her image started to fade away, as if little snowflakes were blowing off her. In her place, another very different figure came into being: a kobold covered in brilliantly white scales and a row of fangs baring out as he smirked. Around his neck and shoudlers hung a well worn, slightly tarnished silver cape, and a wooden crown jammed with randomly plucked white feathers, likely robbed from a variety of local birds.
The kobold let out an impressive roar (for a small reptile) and flung his arms out, just short of yelling "TA-DA!" "My new subjects! I am Azzerix Wyrmclaw, the Winter Dragon!" He'd have to work on that title... he was getting close, but it still sounded off. "And I now declare this town my new dominion!"
Ashleaf |
Ashleaf blinked at the kobold, and in the silence following the ridiculous he was among the first, if not the first to begin laughing. He hadn't really had anything to drink, although his mind was a bit hazy from being surrounded by young women, and the tension that had built up in him from that very source just needed an outlet.
He just found the tiny pretentious little kobold hilarious. The tall man laughed until tears started to stream out of his eyes.
Ashleaf |
The tall half elf wiped his eye, smiled and pointed right at the kobold with his right hand. In the midst of this it became noticeable to him that he was the only one interacting with this creature, but for some reason he wasn't afraid, or even nervous. He was so convinced that he shared the sentiments of the entire crowd that it didn't matter that he spoke for it, no matter how taciturn he was.
So as he pointed, he gave a great sigh along with his smile. Jarro also took a look at the white scaled kobold due to the pointing of his human companion. The large cat licked his chops at the tasty looking creature. He knew people were off the menu, but this was something else, and he wondered how it tasted. He hadn't had enough food coming from the other dispensers as they were looking over here, so maybe they were telling him to eat that.
Jarro sauntered over toward the stage and gracefully leaped up on the the plantform, head low, walking toward the kobold with unblinking eyes.
KoolKobold |
Rane
That's fine. I was just wondering where you were at is all.
"Aw, but we were having fun though!" Shayliss whined a bit, then smirked, "If you're worried about Daddy, don't worry-he won't lose it on you if it's just a dance."
Suddenly the yapping of a kobold on the stage caught their attention.
"King...of Sandpoint? Um...do you know if this is an act?"
Ashleaf
The women with the half elf laughed with him, only for Ateria to repeatedly tap his shoulder in concern.
"Um, I think you're cat wants some lizard meat," she said, referring to the cougar-who is now on stage eyeing the kobold.
Azzerix
At first, everyone just blinked in confusion over the kobold. Then, once a half-elf laughed, others started to laugh with him. Some of the laughter immediately ended once the half-elf's cougar pounced onto the stage, with the look of a hungry cat cornering a fat rat.
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
Azzerix frowned as others started to laugh, scowling a bit as the big cat leaped onto the stage, staring it down unflinchingly. "No! You!" he pointed at the cougar, before lowering his tip as a bolt of cold energy suddenly snapped out and lashed in front of the cat, as if to tell it off. "Bad kitty! Sit! Stay! The rest of you! I understand this festival is for butterflies or something. I will give it a much better purpose! Bring me a throne! And your first round of tributes! I realize this is apparently news to you, so I will mercifully allow you time to gather the proper offerings!"
The sound of copper coins clattering on the stage catches his attention, as he looks down and immediately starts snatching them up. "YES! These! Bring me more of these! These will be a suitable tribute! BRING ME MORE! ...AND MEAT! Your dragon ruler hungers!"
Ashleaf |
Jarro licked his nose as the kobold did his magic. He really did look tasty, and cold fish right out of the river were the best. The cat bent his ears back and hissed a little at the cold, and crouched down low.
The half elf followed the elegant curve of the Varisian's pointed arm, and noticed himself that Jarro was getting ready to eat the kobold. That was a habit that Ashleaf didn't want to get into, eating anyone without permission, and the druid kind of liked this silly little guy. He hopped up the gap to the platform and caught Jarro by the scruff of his neck, and carrying the hundred pound cat in one hand without any notice that it's much of a strain.
He hopped back down as the Firepelt curled up a bit and growled in displeasure. "Shh" he told the cat and released it's neck and let it crawl up on his shoulders and lounge there, which it does somewhat reluctantly. The half elf walks back to the lady that just introduced himself, and he patted his muscled chest. "Ashleaf Oxblood. Local." His gesture showed off a little bit of his Shoanti heritage. He did a little bow of respect, and Jarro dug in his claws to make sure he didn't fall, but with the half elf's thick shirt, it didn't seem to bother him too much.
KoolKobold |
Tarnok
Ameiko just chuckled a bit, and tossed a few copper coins with the Shoanti, telling him, "Never thought Sandpoint get entertainment from a kobold."
Azzerix
"Enough!" the man yelled, stepping onto the stage, "Sandpoint already has a ruler-a mayor! We do not need a kobold raising hell! So leave or-"
"Father Zantus!" a feminine voiced yelled. Everyone stepped out of the way of a brunette, short-haired human female as she walked towards the kobold. The man that the kobold thought was named Akbar stepped off of the stage, letting her step in front of the kobold. "Kobold-um, Azzerix, was it? If it is food you wish, follow me to the cathedral; although you cannot rule Sandpoint, we can make arrangements for you to stay. Your own 'domain' so to speak," she said with a polite but stern voice, trying to appease the kobold.
Not sure if a Diplomacy check is needed-since I don't even have the mayor's statistics, if they even exist.
Ashleaf
Edit: Just saw your post
All three of the women gasped as the Firepelt growled, but her still amazed by the man's strength and calmness.
"Charmed, Ateria bowed back, blushing a bit, as the other two women blushed a bit as well, "And that cat? What's his name? If that's a he that is..."
Ashleaf |
The half elf blushed a bit as well receiving all this attention. It was true that he'd probably grown a bit since he'd last spent time in town, could it be they were impressed by his muscles? He'd seen something like that before in town, but he didn't realize it before that he actually had anything about himself that girls liked. They'd always avoided him before and called him smelly because he spent so much time in the river.
The cougar had already forgotten about the kobold and was appreciating his favorite perch, purring a bit and rubbing his head on Ashleaf's cheek. The cat loved the fact that the half elf smelled a bit like fish.
When asked about the gender of the somewhat lazy feline draped about his shoulders, Ashleaf nodded in the affirmative. "Jarro. Firepelt Cougar."
Azzerix Wyrmclaw |
Azzerix perks his fringes up as more coins land on the stage, snatching those up as well. "Excellent! Your dragon is pleased! I will expect more later!" His little yellow eyes look down at the woman speaking to him, cocking his head to one side and chewing her words over a bit. Finally, he snapped his claws in realization.
"I forget, you softskins do not find favor with dragons as often. My rule requires little input - your chief can still control your tribe. I merely need a suitable lair... and treasures... and food! Take me to my new lair!"
