Quick note of clarification: If we are flat footed, then Ashleaf wouldn't get an attack of opportunity, if we aren't flat footed, then our kobold would have dodged that arrow.
I figured we were not flat footed, and that's why you let us take AoO's, but it should probably be one or the other.

Actually, when combat starts you're supposed to be flat-footed all the way up until you get to act, even though there's no surprise round.

Seriously, though, you might consider a re-recruitment if you want to continue. Obviously, I'm having more fun than I probably should with Azzerix, but if you want to keep going, we might need more folks... unless you want to make it a solo campaign.
