SoulDragon298's Untitled Campaign

Game Master SoulDragon298

So recently I started to think about world building again, as I love creating worlds, so thought I'd see if anyone would be interested in working together with me to create a setting and then we could run campaigns in it.

Now, I have considered 2 methods of doing world building. One is to use a system called Dawn of Worlds, where you play as gods creating the world, and you get a certain amount of power points per turn to spend on alterations of the world. The other method is to just have discussion and talk about what we want for the campaign setting. We would discuss the different aspects of the world and add to it gradually.

So lemme know if you are interested and what method you would prefer. :)

Very much yes. PM me if you want to ping pong ideas, or let's create a GoogleDoc for it. :)

Awesome :) I was thinking we could have multiple people work on so that a(we have a lot of diverse ideas and b(so when it's play-ready,we have a pool of potential GMs and players.

While I have a number of world ideas, I do not know how well that they would translate into Pathfinder. Is that the system that would definitely be used to play in it?

Yes, it would use Pathfinder.

I'd totally be down for working on this!

Liberty's Edge

I'd like to lurk, at the very least. I'm in the process of starting my own homebrew world in a PBP, and I'm very much flying by the seat of my pants for now. A thread like this could prove a valuable classroom for future construction guidelines.

The discussion thread is open now so if interested, go there for discussing.

Bumping this because I wanna try to do this again.

Please let me help you! I want thi so much!

I'd certainly be very interested. I always have many ideas for suggestions of campaign settings or new worlds, but I'm generally terrible at creating an entire world myself :p

I'd be interested in seeing where this goes. How exactly does that Dawn of Worlds system work? It sounds interesting to be a player as a God and then be a player as a lowly adventurer

Interested, though having tried this personally before Dawn of worlds doesn't lend itself well to play by post.

So, according to the license at the start of the PDF, it says that Dawn of Worlds is functionally free to distribute, so I don't think there should be any problems with me posting a link to the PDF.

Basically, it's a collaborative worlbuilding system intended to create interesting, dynamic worlds -very little really exists without one of the players making it. From what I understand so far, it's pretty interesting.

I honestly do not know if the OP is still around here... but if he is not, I am all in to try this with you guys anyway!

As I said, dawn of worlds is probably better done in skype or another messenger. I don't think I have seen a dawn of worlds play by post finish.

Dawn of Worlds.... eeeh, I'm with Browman, wouldn't mind the other option however.

What other option?

Also those interested in this concept PM me and we will see if we can get a Google doc or something set up.

Sorry I'm still here, and Browman I did bear witness to one of your Dawn of Worlds games falling out.

I'm still around, monitoring. I'll be down with whatever we decide.

why don't we set up a google doc then and start discussing things?

Sounds good! Do you have one already?

I am good with it, but I think we should still follow some guidelines... or else each one will be speaking one diferente thing.

I think we could start with the gods... From the following, what do you think we should start from:

1st - How many gods?
a) Monotheistic
b) Polytheistic - One pantheon (diferente cultures follow diferente aspects of the same deity)
c) Polytheistic - Several pantheons

2nd - How this gods were created?
a) One primordial god created the others
b) Several gods were in the world since the beggining
c) Alien gods (Whole phanteons came from other worlds)

3rd - How do the gods Interact with the world?
a) Very active (like greek mithology)
b) Medium (like the Inner Sea)
c) Very inactive (like Lord of the Rings)

I personaly really like gods, so my answer would be C, C and B

I have a google doc set up now, with a couple questions, though people should feel free to add to that list.

I added these questions to the google doc

I'm getting a "this document doesn't exist" page.

Ooo sounds fun I love world building

Good to see several people have commented already.

Am I too late to the party?

I don't think so, worst case we have to run multiple groups if we have too many for one campaign.

Though it is probably HORRIBLE for play-by-post, there is a fractal world-building game called Microscope that is fun to play. Perhaps more tolerable if used with google docs.

Microscope

Time travel in worldbuilding sounds painful.

AS for the gods do we have godkings who live with the people distant deities who people worship but never see the involvement, or do we have attentive deities with the group or basically a mix

1d16 ⇒ 15
1d16 ⇒ 10

1d14 ⇒ 5

I updated the doc with a rough outline of how I see the setting based off what the general consensus is so far. Obviously things can still change.

Now, let's figure out what exactly happened

Did this die? No one has commented on my rough initial outline.

My bad, I'm still around. It's been hectic at work. I'll give it a look over in the morning (a half dozen hours or so for different time zones).

Are we still interested in this?

Silver Crusade

Dotting. Can I have, er, permission to work on this too?

dot for permish!

So, where are we going with this? We've got plenty of great ideas that seem to mesh well.
Would it be easier to plan the specifics through this message board and then add to the doc as we agree on elements?

Do we want to focus on the empire/country? Do we need much history, or should we start a few generations after the cataclysm?

Sorry about all the questions, I just wanna see this through.
