Helix Moltaran's Untitled Campaign

Alright. so what is your plan as a group?

M Half-Elf Wizard 3 (Diviner), AC 16, HP 19/20, FRW +2/+3/+4, INIT +9, Party Reward Tracker | NPC Activity Tracker | Personal Gear Tracker | Combat Status Tracker

In social situations, I plan to support the group as a voice of reason that pushes us towards expanding trade and civilization as we develop the wilderness.

In combat situations, I will support the group as a ranged combatant and/or buffing supplier. Emergency healing or post-fight healing as necessary, also.

I would be happy to volunteer to be the group inventory chronicler as well, if that would be helpful for folks.

Derren is a melee combatant, building as an evasion tank. He aims to have a reasonably high AC, a few defensive abilities, and acceptable HP.

Out of combat, Derren wants to be king, but he'd probably be better-suited to spymaster, councilor, or grand diplomat. He's a more aggressive voice advocating for expansion and consolidation of any kingdom we may establish.

I don't have any experience with the kingdom-building rules, but I could probably learn them pretty quickly and manage that. Also, I enjoy playing around with Inkscape (very amateurishly), so I could build a pretty map of our budding domain.

As far as getting started, how we handle that is really dependent on whether you start us off arriving in the Stolen Lands or starting in Restov. Depending on how the start goes, there's more or less RP involved before we start fighting. Also, full disclosure, I have read through the AP several times while I was building a custom-designed wilderness campaign.

Hey Gm.

Sorry was build to be a battle controller, I plan to wade in combat and force our enemies (and allies) for some re-rolls using Misfortune as immediate action while debuffing and disabling our enemies.

Outside that, she is a emergency healer and not so like post fight healer.

Kingdom wise, she'll maneuver herself to be 'queen' of this new country, since from the beginning this is her coal. To build a strong nation to interfere with Brevoy. Of course she may change her mind, if she believes there's someone that she can manipulate into the throne, and keeping the focus out of herself, while controlling this 'ruler' actions.

--

Some other stuff now: I was not able to choose a campaign trait because none of them would really fit the backstory. Would you mind if I take from the existing bonus within the campaign traits and 'create' one specific for Sorry?

HP 11/11, AC 17 T 13 FF 14, Fort+2 Ref +4 Will -1

Was going to hop on yesterday, but internet was down. But yay! I'm in!

Pyotr here is a fighter first and foremost, so most of his social dealings will be done from a fighter's point of view of 'might makes right', though he uses his sword for good.

Battle wise he's going full on Aldori Swordlord, focusing everything on his dueling blade.

Kingdom wise, he's going for General, so long as the monarch isn't too bad. If they are, then I smell civil war a brewing!

Retired

It's possible, based on the backstories and traits, that Pyotr and Derron might have known about each other before this expedition. Are you interested in a friendship/rivalry?

Female Aasimar Arcanist 1 -- HP 7/7 -- AC 11 / 11 touch / 10 ff -- Fort +2 / Ref +1 / Will +3 -- Init +1 -- Per +1

Carina is very much a ranged battlefield controller: her tactics in battle will focus heavily on summoning monsters and trying to shut down opponents. She's not interested in going toe-to-toe with the bandits, and would much rather support others, letting the rest of the group have all the glory with her constant assistance.

Similarly, she's not aiming to become Monarch, and would much rather have a position as Magister or Treasurer. This is partly because she feels quite out of her depth when it comes to the political intrigue Brevoy's nobility engage in, and partly because she observed that her mentor had far more free time for pursuing his own interests than most of the rest of his family ever did. (The productive members, at any rate.)

On other topics... there's a good chance she's met Pyotr before, assuming that, as a member of one of the minor noble families sworn to House Lebeda, he would have been invited to some of the same events she occasionally had to make an appearance at. She's not of noble blood though, and her attendance at such events was only because of her status as apprentice to an actual member of the Lebeda family. And while she's chosen Sarenrae as her patron deity instead, she would be quite familiar with Cyrioul's faith, as her father is a paladin of Abadar.

Also, since she's from Lebeda, she'll not have had much personal experience with centaurs, fey, or other such creatures, so she's much less likely to want to actually fight anyone willing to sit down and negotiate. Given her faith in Sarenrae, she's also likely to want to offer brigands and other outlaws the chance to surrender and repent, if there are any willing to turn their lives around.

As for me... like Derren/Aest, I enjoy playing around with Inkscape and wouldn't mind helping out with map-type stuff.

@Pyotr

Don't worry. I'm evil but I don't plan on petty evilness.

I mean, my decisions my sound harsh, but I’m not going to put the group in moral conflict.

Thinking about it, maybe being ruler is not in her best ideas, a ‘puppet’ would be way better for her plans and if she is planning war with Brevoy from the beginning, winning the crowd and population is the first step. So even if she sets herself as ruler, I do expect it to be something that will not oppress the masses. Anyway, she is someone that recognizes power and respects it, not a murderous chaotic monster. :)

Edit: I'll finish the gear purchase, spell list and other small stuff in some hours.

Female Aasimar Arcanist 1 -- HP 7/7 -- AC 11 / 11 touch / 10 ff -- Fort +2 / Ref +1 / Will +3 -- Init +1 -- Per +1

Carina would have to be talked into taking the Ruler position if Sorry decides she'd rather play 'puppetmistress', so my guess is that Derren Orlovsky would be the obvious choice in such a case. It's interesting how 4 of the 6 of us have high Charisma scores (16+).

@Carina

Sorry would never try to set Carina as ruler, too smart, to charismatic.
Hard to control and being an arcanist, only makes her more dangerous.

Her first choice would be Pyotr.
He is of noble blood, so he already has some ties and connections with nobility.
He is a warrior, and as long she can stir him to do ‘good’ with his sword, she would not have to worry too much about backfires.
Lastly he is not super smart (common human int) and not that wise (wis 8) which means from her point of view, he would be ideal for the position and easy manipulated.

Anyway, that’s me saying. What’ll really happe,n we’ll only know inside the game, since I know that most of the times, no matter how much we plan, things tend to not be so easy to achieve.

@Gm

Would you mind setting a gameplay thread for us to dot?
It makes really easy to manage new posts using the profile campaign link.

Here as example: http://paizo.com/people/HelixMoltaran/campaigns

HP 11/11, AC 17 T 13 FF 14, Fort+2 Ref +4 Will -1

@Derren: Considering they are both using Aldori Dueling Swords, of noble houses, it does make sense that they would know each other. A rivalry/friendship is not off the table!

@Carina: Yoiu might have even been assigned to the lowly noble house Pyotr hails from, at least for a short time perhaps. Knowing one another is an interesting set-up for the two of them. Her being Aasimar, she's probably easily two to three times as old as he, though if he had met her as a child, he'd be shocked some to see she has aged very little if at all.

@Sorry: It's fine. Puppetmistress might actually be a cool way to go. Counciler or Grand Diplomat may be what you're looking for.

@Pyotr

Let's not forget concubine. :)

Female Aasimar Arcanist 1 -- HP 7/7 -- AC 11 / 11 touch / 10 ff -- Fort +2 / Ref +1 / Will +3 -- Init +1 -- Per +1

@Sorry: Yeah, it's the combination of the two that's dangerous though. Someone who's very charismatic but not very wise or intelligent is a far better choice when picking a figurehead to subtly manipulate. *grin*

@Pyotr: I was actually going off of James Jacob's post regarding Aasimar ages (link) and have Carina in her mid-20s. If that's not okay with GM Calvus, then it's easy to move her parents' service in the Mendevian Crusades back to the Second Crusade, and her sister would likely be a grandmother by now, certainly a mother with grown children.

@DM

Can I swap some ability points around?

Because of F&F I have these ability scores:
Str 16, Dex 11, Con 17, Int 15, Wis 8, Cha 18
This is the same as a 46 point buy option.

I want to move 1 point from CON and INT to DEX for this result:
Str 16, Dex 13, Con 16, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 18
This would make my abilities score drops to a 36 point buy option, but history wise, it would make Sorry more like a ‘stealthy’ type, not a huge difference, I know, but seems more fitting having her with a bit more of DEX.

If you don't think this is an option, there's no real issue. It's breaking my heart to ask to drop those points.
How I wanted my battle mage to have some ability scores like Sorry.

Well it depends as to how you would role play that, but it could be interesting. I'll leave it up to you.

It doesn't affect your bonuses, but if you did go Puppet master maybe dex would be helpful. So yes It's up to you

@ Sorry
In the recruitment thread, the DM said it was fine to re-skin campaign traits, as long as the mechanics were the same. Also, I believe the word you're looking for is "consort" :)

@ Pyotr
I could see a pre-existing rivalry working better than a friendship. From reading through your background, it seems like Pyotr's an overall good guy. He buys his opponents drinks, he's in this for the glory, and mechanically, he understands the role of nobility (rank in K-nobility). Derren's more willing to cheat to win fights, he's here because staying in Restov was getting too dangerous, and he uses his nobility as a sledgehammer to get what he wants, without any sort of understanding (despite his readings of the revolutionaries from Galt).

A friendship could work, but I think that there'd be rivalry between the two in either case. Heck, it'd be a great motivator! (I can't let him do something unless I'm doing it too/better.) Just my thoughts.

M Half-Elf Wizard 3 (Diviner), AC 16, HP 19/20, FRW +2/+3/+4, INIT +9, Party Reward Tracker | NPC Activity Tracker | Personal Gear Tracker | Combat Status Tracker

Sounds like High Priest is mine. :) A position I'm ok with.

@GM, it looks like my profile didn't save after an update. It's getting late here, and I'll post in gameplay quick, but just FYI that I'm going to have him up to speed before anything mechanical really happens.

Derren Orlovsky wrote:

Nops!

If she does not want to be 'ruler', concubine is not an official post, but it's right at center of it all.

Not the ruler wife, but his mistress. If it comes to that. No one blames the king's lover, she is only the king’s toy.

Edit:

@DM
There’s a big deploy coming next week, and my time is somewhat strange this week. I’ll have Sorry finished, trait selected and crunch adjusted until the end of the week.

Male Human Ranger 1

Shoot, I missed the creation of this thread! I'm sorry.

Bolys isn't particularly interested in ruling, he's in this more for the adventure and exploration. From a leadership role standpoint, he could probably be talked into Marshal or Warden, but definitely not Ruler.

From a combat standpoint, I was thinking of going switch hitter with him, but I might put more of an emphasis on ranged combat now, seeing as Pyotr and Derren are both built around melee. Otherwise, he's support.

Also, GM_Calvus, I was wondering if I could swap his greatsword for a battleaxe. I think it makes more sense given his background, but wanted to check with you first just in case.

Will get caught up and post in the Gameplay thread now.

Male Human Ranger 1

By the way, GM Calvus, are you using Kingdom Building Rules as described in the AP, or Ultimate Campaign? They are slightly different, and I've used the Ultimate Campaign rules in the face-to-face game.

bolys Yes on the greatsword to battle axe, and as for the kingdom building we will be using the UC. I feel it is a bit cleaner.

Retired

Our sixth is in a Curse of the Crimson Throne game I'm running, and he said he's been having internet troubles for the last couple of days.

Male Human Ranger 1

Great. I'm currently on my phone, so I'll update my profile later.

I like the Ultimate Campaign rules. Our kingdom in the face to face game hasn't gone wrong yet.

Female Aasimar Arcanist 1 -- HP 7/7 -- AC 11 / 11 touch / 10 ff -- Fort +2 / Ref +1 / Will +3 -- Init +1 -- Per +1

There's some FAQ-type stuff that's largely up to the GM's ruling regarding the Ultimate Campaign rules, but they're far superior to the original rules printed in Kingmaker, and we have plenty of time before we need to worry about them.

Male Human Ranger 1

Okay, swapped out the greatsword for a battleaxe. I may see about purchasing some more equipment from Oleg's, seeing as I have leftover gold and am not sure what to spend it on.

I'm hoping nobody has problems with Derren's personality. He's supposed to be a bit of an ass who uses his name and rank to get what he wants, but if he doesn't seem to be clicking at all, please let me know. It's the first time I've played a 'difficult to like' character, and I'd rather not offend any players.

Male Human Ranger 1

Bolys views people as they are, and accepts them regardless. Unless they do something that really offends him. Then he might not like them.

Bolys calls it like it is, though. He tends to be fairly honest, and that can offend people. It's not because he's rude, it's because he honestly isn't used to people outside of his family.

I'm also trying to keep the accent from being too unbearable. Let me know if it is, and I'll ease it up.

Retired

Your character's accent is hardly noticeable. I play Vera Lyngriff in another game, and her accent is crazy-heavy.

If I think that you go over the line with your comments for my tastes, I'll let you know. Otherwise, I'm glad we're not all likable.

HP 11/11, AC 17 T 13 FF 14, Fort+2 Ref +4 Will -1

Sorry about not posting, internet in my town is buggy as all hell. Just started working well enough to allow me to post T_T

Female Aasimar Arcanist 1 -- HP 7/7 -- AC 11 / 11 touch / 10 ff -- Fort +2 / Ref +1 / Will +3 -- Init +1 -- Per +1

Carina is basically just trying to let Oleg know that the party is a group of noble adventurers, not vile murder-hobos who will kill him, eat his chickens, and burn down his home. A perfectly legitimate fear, I am sure, on the very edge of civilization in this part of the world.

HP 11/11, AC 17 T 13 FF 14, Fort+2 Ref +4 Will -1

But what if I am a murder-hobo who wants to kill him, eat his chickens, and burn his home?

Retired

If that's the case, this is going to be a nasty, brutish, and short Kingmaker game.

Or a fantastically nasty, brutish and long one!

Female Aasimar Arcanist 1 -- HP 7/7 -- AC 11 / 11 touch / 10 ff -- Fort +2 / Ref +1 / Will +3 -- Init +1 -- Per +1

If you are a murder-hobo... do you really want potential victims to be aware of that? Carina is naturally charming and should be able to ingratiate us with most folks, so long as we don't get some sort of a nasty reputation preceding us. (+10 Diplomacy)

HP 11/11, AC 17 T 13 FF 14, Fort+2 Ref +4 Will -1

How about being murder-hobos versus other murder-hobos?

@All

Do you guys read my backstory? It's a bit long but it'll explain a lot of her inner 'thoughts and struggles'

Anyway, here is a short version if you don't want to read it:

The girl, is currently possessed by someone named Cotillion, and he has a purposed, so if bedding someone will help it, she does it, but apart from that, she is 'basically' a man in a girl's body. :)

Edit: Unknowing to Cotillion, she is harboring the soul of Rigga the seer. (This is why the 'haunted curse.')

Okay, saying it like that is sure strange. >.<

Male Human Ranger 1

I actually hadn't read your backstory, as I feel it's more organic to let things come out naturally. If you feel it will help me to RP interactions with Sorry a bit better, I will as soon as I have a chance.

Same. Just let us know!

I read everyone's backstories, but it's a lot to keep in my head off a single reading, so I figure the longer we play the more it will stick.

It's not mandatory.

I just said that so no one would get offended over her sarcastic and ironic thinking.

Backstory read, but to be honest, if I didn't see a lawful/evil character scheming and thinking about his/her companions in a mean way, I'd be more concerned. You play your character how you need to, and like Cyrioul said, we'll let you know if you cross an uncrossable line.

Okay, thanks. :)

Also, I'll have her finished in the next few hours.

Male Human Ranger 1

Yeah, Lawful Evil should typically be scheming to at least a small extent. If you cross a line, we'll let you know.

I've updated Sorry Sheet.

Spells knows and daily usage are bring tracked in the Excel Sheet link.

@GM

I've taken the 'bastard' trait for its mechanics; I'll refluff it keeping the same bonus and penalties.

Also, I plan in taking a dip at sorcerer at level two or three, but I'll work it out inside the game, making the ‘souls’ inside her body unlocking unknowing powers in the girls body.

Alright

I found a map of the Stolen Lands with none of the encounter symbols on it, and I'm playing around with Inkscape to see if I can make a stylistically-interesting map. If so, I can throw what he's got up on a google-doc a little later and see if you all like it. Right now, though, it'll be just the South Rostland Road and Oleg's Trading Post.

Male Human Ranger 1

Apparently, I didn't have good footing on that one.
