I would point out that some monsters, dragons among them. Have large power gaps despite their CR. Dragons have high everything by nature, there is a reason it takes a prepared party of PCs to even threaten them. This is not considering the addition of another class, magical items, and such in the mix. Crystal dragons in particular have a breath weapon which is unblockable to most creatures sense few things have sonic resistance or immunity in PF.

That being said, I am not against the idea. Just letting you know the can of worms it opens up for everyone involved. Personally I don't see any gestalt non monster PC being able to get near the raw power of a dragon. But I would not mind being proven wrong. ;)

If it's a real problem, Draconic Exemplar + Taninim may fit the desire without being over the top.

OMG is that "THE' OmniChaos, wow your reputation proceeds you, Long time ago I used to play on here in a game called 'The Avalon Chronicles' and they did nothing but talk about you ALL the time. [not in a good way I may add] Things about super maxing PCs and telling GMs how to run their games and stuff like that. I'm just telling ya what they posted not me, I think you left a wile before I started playing there. A player called Monkeygod, he really don't like your playing style.

Well the good news it I'm not a mini-max player, I'm a 'roll' player. I make fun PCs who play well with others and GM and to be frank to hell with the maxing-winning stuff. I' like interplay and background, I like fluff, I like not standing in front of the other players and saying "look at me, look at the power of my PC " dull dull dull. The PC dragon I have made will just as likely thing about running away, or trying to talk his way out of things, because he's aways getting into truble, if k his 1st action was to fight he would have Long a go been killed, but it's not, it's to try and think his way out. I think this PC will be loads of fun, and I have built him with limits to tone him down, not gone the umber power root. Hes hard to hit yes but his saves or not mad, and he is not a hard hitter, bite at 1d8+3 is not by any means hard hitting looking at some of the PCs posted here, Also he breath weapon is 8d4 yep high but at 1d4 rounds. [I would change that to 1d4+1] but I went with the book.

As for magic items he has few, Im playing is that he can't find ones that fit or use, Boots gloves, clothing all out. If its not on the form of hard metal jewellery its going to be cut to bit.s

I have tryed to make him, a youngest of the cluch playful dragon whos just into every thing and always getting into trouble, and out again, read how he become Mythic, that is kind of how I will be playing him.

:)

Ps In fact just thought if a great God for him, Carl thingy who got drunk and wake a god.

Going to just withdraw from this. I like the concept, but I can't think of where to go with the character. 'so he's good with a bow.' aside from that... boring. So good luck, all.

Sorry to see you go Hotaru, why not think of an idea, back sorry, I found if I stopped thinking of a superhero as the starting point and just think of my own PC, it worked a lot better.

Like the idea of a runt young dragon who's smart but weak, [had this for a wile] finding he was into all kinds of trouble, because he's not very wise, he acts 1st with out thinking then has to deal with his problem. once I had that the rest just fell into place.

I submit Maria Galatea, robot girl superhero who I named after the first robot girl and an artificial woman of antiquity. I still need to crunch some numbers for her and finish shopping, but she's mostly finished.

@GM Lucid Nonsense
I remember that group to be a little less petty then what you described, I may be mistaken. But I don't dwell on the past and didn't know I had such a reputation, never came up. Sorry if you thought I was attacking your character, I was giving my opinion as if one dragon is allowed then others should be as well. They may not wish to play the way you do, so it may become an issue just like the Time Thief discussed earlier. I leave it to the DM.

Shadow Lodge

Avalon academy was my first PBP game, and from my experience lucid nonsense's exagggerating, while the general consensus of opinion of you is negative, the topic of you is almost never brought up, Lynn dpesn't like people arguing with/insulting other players/former players
Personally my character building follows 2 rules 1 is the rule of cool, the second is the damn good reason rule (eg: if you are making the choice to become an adventurer you better have a damn good reason to think you'll survive)

@Lord Foul II - I think I must have been on before your time Lord Foul II, it’s been a long while, just under 3 years I think, man how time zips, I forgot what it was all about to be honest, something about clockwork things, I was kind of out of the loop by then, work life etc. I like ‘rule of cool’ as well. :)

@OmniChaos I could have this all wrong, but it kind of feel like you were attacking my character idea you know. Being kind of accused of seeking to mini-maxing and then told "Well if you do it a load of Plays will now show up wanting to be Dragons but Mini-maxing this time" kind of felt you wanted me out of the running. To be frank I really don't see what the problem is here, I feel I did the right thing, I asked the GM if I could play a dragon and posted the setup I wanted to play, I said I would limit and keep the levels right v other players and I think I have, if not I am more than willing to talk to the GM to get them right. But 'IF' other players show up, and they want to be Dragon PCs they can do what I did, ask then GM, post a working set-up of their PC like me and show willing to place it with in the power levels. But they will be copying my idea so I have a feeling non wile, as one Super-Hero Dragon per super team kind of fill the need you know, :)

All good fun

To be honest, I'd been entertaining the idea of being a Taninim for this, and being Crypto the Super Dragon... so to speak. Go Copper dragon for that Deadpoolish annoying inability to just shut up...

But I realized that was me just taking several of my current characters and tossing them in a blender. I already -have- a taninim, and while the personality would be quite different, it would be virtually the same personality I play for -at least- one other character.

Plus, I've got a dozen-too-many PbPs... or too few, depending on whether I wait longer than a few hours to check them :P Leaving the PbP open for the people who definitely -do- want a spot in it just seems... the better call!

Here's the draconic exemplar I was talking about for Lucid Nonsense. It's basically 'build your own dragon.' The hitdice are basically racial hitdice with a bit of growth and adjustment built in. Even better is the built-in will save to stick to your dragon's 'temperament'. :)

super interested in this. What's the deadline for submission? I know I'm a little late to the party.

I see what your saying and thinks for the link. I am reading not, very interesting and I may use it. could save a lot of work for me, thanks

I don't think anyone who'd apped had said anything to the negative of you being a dragon. :) You may be misinterpreting. There was one random person who said 'dragon might be strong'. But let's be honest, isn't that the point?

I just offered Draconic Exemplar as a -really- cool option for you to be it and treat it as a class you can advance in. :)

I think the Draconic Exemplar just takes away to from Dragon, I know you may dis agree but it seems to be made to fit with a 3PP race that gos with it. That background and that race is not what I am looking for, I liked the idea of a kind of smart but weak trouble dogged dragon.
Im going to go rethink the idea, and see of I can use some of both to get where I want to be at a level I think will fit.

:) My intent was to offer an option. The DM has already said you were completely cool with the dragon. :) As for me, I've also withdrawn and as much as said 'I want to see a dragon here.'

So... chase your dreams!

Gonna withdraw submission here, accepted into another PbP which looks like it'll take up some considerable time and also starting a playtest one myself. Have fun guys!

What dragon superhero do you know

Lockheed? Savage Dragon? Fing Fang Foom is sorta both hero n villain ala Godzilla.

There's St. George the Mighty Dragon from Ex-Heroes (superheroes meets zombie apocalypse). Many superheroes are not powered humans but rather non-humans such as Superman, the Martian Manhunter, and Gorilla Grodd (not a hero), and a dragon could be a good analogue of a super-powered alien.

Aside from the great examples above... isn't it a little narrow-minded to believe that the -only- superheroes that can exist are the ones that already have people fulfilling the archetypes within other media?

I just have to say... bonus points if the Dragon player takes No One of Consequence. "Well... see... I think he was... kinda big! Maybe..."

Let me not answer that question with a question. What makes a superhero, what makes a fantasy hero, and how do they compare?

Easy: One of them wears spandex.

That is ultimately made incredibly complex by the differing opinions generated by differing opinions -deciding- the result.

Take DC's typical approach: Two heroes that outclass everyone else with a wide supporting cast that is, for the most part, glorified cheerleaders, despite being -insanely- powerful by any stretch of the imagination.

Take Marvel's typical approach: Human paragons can stand nearly toe-to-toe with half of the superheroes out there, especially if given the option (see also: batman), and there is very rarely a point where one hero hogs all the action (wolverine, smh).

Now to completely deny you the answer you may well be seeking: I simply don't at all see a difference myself. A hero is a hero. The rest is just an adjective.

Yes, the fantasy hero wears a fur bikini while the superhero wears a spandex bikini, but they both always have clear skin, manicured nails, and can be slapped around by the villain in Act 1 to increase the drama when they defeat the villain in Act 3.

Don't dismiss adjectives. Well and top-shelf are adjectives that make all the difference to the noun tequila.

“It's hard to talk about the importance of an imaginary hero. But heroes ARE important: Heroes tell us something about ourselves. History tells us who we used to be, documentaries tell us who we are now; but heroes tell us who we WANT to be. And a lot of our heroes depress me. But when they made this particular hero, they didn't give him a gun--they gave him a screwdriver to fix things. They didn't give him a tank or a warship or an x-wing fighter--they gave him a box from which you can call for help. And they didn't give him a superpower or pointy ears or a heat-ray--they gave him an extra HEART. They gave him two hearts! And that's an extraordinary thing. There will never come a time when we don't need a hero like the Doctor.”

MonkeyGod gave the answer I was looking for but thanks everyone.

Just about done, I don't think he's over powered now, he's a Brass Dragon that takes the shape of a red headed dwarf when he's not in Dragon form.
He cant use Armour and I cut back some stuff, I think he will be great fun.

If it helps you to realize they're not really overpowered: The following are items that Quadrupeds(Claw and Paw) can normally wear:

Armor, belt (saddle), chest, eyes, headband, neck, shoulders, wrist

That's it. 7 magic items. You lose 'body' where robes go, feet and hands (odd, but okay.), Head (dragons apparently don't get hats), both rings, and shield. So half of your magic items just... gone. :(

Yep, its all on my PC sheet.

GM when is the end date?

All Ready to go

I'm ready except for hit points.

Here is Blade. Backstory and everything in profile. Hope your cool with the blood dependancy -2RP. Came up with that with another DM for original game I made him for. We also did a serum as a first level potion that he carries a few of trying not to drink real blood, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do.

I'm just hoping for a few more setting details. XD My crunch is basically done, but I'd like my fluff to really match the game/setting.

The magnificent 6
You do know we need a group name
Some ideas,
"group who do things to save you"
"Riders for goodness"
"The defenders"

Or something better, please something better... Hehe

Dude, you're a dragon. That in itself is gestalt.

Dos that mean You want me to take out the telepath classes or race, GM,
Just dragon 7CL it do not state the state starting block just adds, so for PC and to get a starting point , I used race + 40, to get to states,

The Telepath

Why not 'All the Single Ladies'?

That way everytime someone says your name 'put your hands up!' automatically comes to mind?

I'm sorry...

Sorry flip flopping making my mind up,

Dark Archive

You know, it's probably rather late to be asking this, but are you just looking for crunch, or do you want some fluff, too? Because besides this post I haven't really put much to paper, yet.

I can obviously brew something up, but a little background on what you're thinking for the campaign would go a long way. :)

Ok going the Pseudodragon root, would be like Rocket-Raccoon but A Telepth-Cryptic over Tech-thief.

Just like the idea of this Tiny Dragon flying around Zipping things.
Roll would be Blaster

Should Pseudodragon be CR1 or CR2 do you think guys?

Pseudodragon is also -very- Lockheed.

2 or 1, at this level, it would only eat a single level due ot 'monsters as pcs'.

Cool, I think he will work a lot better this way, and the Character of a Pseudodragon is more what I had in mind for Cornelus. Always getting into trouble but trying to do good deeds, he wants to be a great Hero, ok hes small but he can do big things right, become famous.
hehe.

No idea what "Lockheed" means, your saying there like planes?

Pseudodragon rebuild done, he's now A gentlemen thief and all round Blaster. 14" long 8"high and 6" wide.

be-careful of his TH +4 DMG 1d3-1 bite

he can find Traps, secret doors, Heal you, has high Kn skills, has some nice Psionic powers [Ok hes small but he can if he needs to hit hard] he may have to ride on someone to get places. The Gloomy half undead looks fun for that. He's a Tiny Dragon who's a gentlemen thief by inclination, has a good streak a mile wide.

Lockheed

well I never, yep then kind of like that

He looks like this
