A few notes:

@ Aiunder - I was going to try and post a list of knightly orders in Tethyr but the list is daunting. If you want to submit that character with details left to be fleshed out that's fine, and in fact desireable.

@ Daynen - I'm not entirely sure how a starting character would have the resources of an inn behind him. Nor do I think this campaign is going to lend itself to someone who has such a responsibility to tie him down.

@ Vuvu - I don't really have an endpoint in sight regarding level, but rather with story progression. I know that a lot of PbPs have short shelf lives, but I'm hoping that this one will buck the trend. I love the setting, the mythology behind the Realms, and I'm hoping to either attract players who share that vision, or who will be inspired by my enthusiasm.

As for how sandboxy the campaign will be, it will definitely start with some structure, growing more freeform through to the midgame. As you increase in level and make a name for yourselves, I'll open a larger area to you, while also introducing more fixed story elements in the form of factions seeking to court you, or neutralize you, depending on how you've handled yourselves.


sweet, that is exactly what I have done w my pbp that I am running. Started w a job, but once that is done choices open up.

I have a chameleon thief that is in a stalled jade regent I might submit before the deadline. He is flushed out so would need to have some backstory retcon, but I might toss him in the pot.


I'm interesting in applying, though I'm not sure I can submit an application in time seeing as I only just saw this thread and registered on the forum in order to post.

Would you be allowing material from Dreamscarred's Psionics books?

Okay my a yet unnamed knight

knightly duelist:

I was thinking about a half elf based around the samurai and archetype sword saint, (link below)that uses the aldori dueling sword. Basically a D'artanion/musketeer kind of character minus the guns that's either part of an as yet undecided knightly order hoping to join or be recruited by a knightly order in the future. I may even go duelist prestige class or switch him to the aldori archetype fighter if you don't like the samurai/sword saint archetype

@DM--Oh, I never said I OWNED an inn. Just that I can work as an innkeeper. Feel free to work that out in whatever background we cook up. The concept just jumped right out at me and I had to do it. Nor did I say I had to be stuck at an inn the whole time. I just took ranks in profession(innkeeper) so I know how to make due. Like you said, a build and a concept, nothin more. I'm flexible; I won't let a little thing like property ownership(or lack thereof) stop me from playin in this one! You gotta lemme in, coach! I won't let ya down!

Belle was an apprentice to a small village smith and when they came rounding up youths needing strong arms the toom her. Her officer laughed at her learning the sword, but seeing her work at the forge put her with the units smith. She learned also from this smith an old veteran soilder swordplay, so hard and fast that she bested the units master of arms and was given a commission right there, she was a secretary to the Chaplin, a devotee of the Red Knight, this group though fell to a horde of bandits and Orcs form the sandy lands of Chamishan and she was one of the few survivors, this is when she learned of the fractious leadership and grew angry, she now seeks to fight for the shoulders she fought beside and grow this land back to a stable powers so Tethyr can be strong once more

Yeah I was just basing him around a dexterity knight to be different. Do you mind the weapon and archetype or would you prefer I avoid them?


@ Critzible - Thanks for the fighter! There's now quite a few to choose from :-)

@ Aiunder - I could probably work with the Aldori duelling sword - I have, for example, already adapted the elven curved blade for the Realms - but I'm not super fond of the sword saint archetype.

I'm good with five characters, and your welcome Locke I enjoy a good meleer and Belle is based off another character I never got to play at low level


@DM my concept for the character is that he's a very young, jock-type aspiring paladin who isn't that smart or wise. so he's more Stupid Good, but not so much Lawful Stupid, if you get my meaning.


Well then, since alternates are encouraged and permitted, I present a slightly more somber approach. I give you Belgrin Stoneshield, Dwarven cleric, protector of the good folk and historian of the Dwarven people.

Haven't come up with much backstory yet, had to do some crunch on the timeframe with other RL concerns interrupting a lot. If we need some party sustain and a good loremaster, Belgrin's your ma--er, dwarf.


This guy was created quite some time ago for a Kingmaker campaign which, unfortunatelly died rather quick, almost before it has properly began. If chosen, I believe his background can be easily accomodated to fit the Realms instead of Golarion. Since I am a big fan of FR (I run a RL 2 years old campaign set in the North), conversion will be rather smooth. Cheers

Background:

Duvall was born and raised in the small community of Helm’s Hold. His father, Justin, served in the local militia, while his mother, Miriam, served as a low-ranking priestess in the temple.
His father is a trapper by trade, and Duvall worked the nets and lines with his father all his life, plying their livelihood along the banks of the Neverwinter River.
An only child, Duvall was protected by his parents and watched closely, especially out in the wilds. Feeling stifled, Duvall always longed to explore Faerun on his own, to get out from under the “thumbs” of his parents.
At 17, Duvall left home, following his heart and using his wits, in pursuit of his dreams. He followed the river to Neverwinter, spending a year in the city where he worked at odd jobs, making barely enough to eat.
Again he felt smothered and again he took his meager belongings and returned to the river, following its winding course into the depths of Neverwinter Woods. Duvall spent several months combing its outskirts, and eventually ended up in the isolated town of Thundertree where he and his father had spent many a night while working the lines. While wintering there, Duvall became more and more attune to the populace and more and more concerned by the crime and injustice he saw among the good folk of the town. His mother’s prayers and teachings came back to him often and with a clarity that shocked him at times.
Late one evening as he huddled along the side of the river fishing, he began pondering the strange dreams he’d been having. This spiritual tug made him uncomfortable and he didn’t know what to do about it until…the sun broke over the mountains and startled him awake. Not remembering when he had fallen asleep, the startled young man was blinded for several seconds and confused. Suddenly, he thought he heard a voice, his mother’s voice, praying for him, for his safety and well-being. He could even almost picture her kneeling by her bedside, her face lifted toward the ceiling, eyes closed.
A few seconds later his vision cleared, and so did the jumbled thoughts in his mind. Taking the light for a vision, he returned to his small room, packed his belongings, and left town.
It was long walk back to Helm’s Hold, but Duvall managed it, the vision of his praying mother leading him onward. When he arrived back home, he offered himself in service to the church of Helm. He trained his mind and his body and took up the mantle of his church with pride. His life’s mission became the dogma of Helm: “Be vigilant. Stand, wait, and watch carefully.”

Sorry I never got around to fully fleshing out Ariael, the recruitment thread just seemed to explode with interest, so I never kept up.

I would love to still play, but I'm sure my lack of presence has disqualified me.


I realized that there are some errors in my submission. The Hero Points was one, another was that there were x3 traits selected.

What happened is that i imported the FR libraries into Hero Lab (for access to deities etc) and somehow they allowed x3 traits and I didn't think much of it until went back and re-read the first post.


Okay, I'm beginning to send the recruitment PM's out. Thanks once again to all who have participated in this thread, and to those who weren't chosen this time out, I have no doubt you'll soon find a great game on these boards :-)

Calming Touch (Sp) Davina can touch a creature as a standard action to heal it of 1d6 points of nonlethal damage +1 per cleric level. This touch also removes the fatigued, shaken, and sickened conditions (but has no effect on more severe conditions). Davina can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Wisdom modifier.
Channel Domain (Su) Davina gains the granted powers of the Protection domain.
Channel Energy (Su) Davina can channel positive energy through her holy symbol, in a 30 ft burst affecting either the living or the undead, and healing 1d6 damage to the living, or inflicting 1d6 damage on the undead. (Will DC 15)
Combat Training (Ex) Davina takes bonus feats at 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, and 19th levels as a paladin from the following list: Channel Smite, Cleave, Cowering Critical, Critical Focus, Great Cleave, Favored Strike, Improved Critical, Mounted Combat, Mounted Warrior, Power Attack, Ride-by Attack, Spirited Charge, Trample, Vital Strike, and Weapon Focus.
Deathless Spirit (Racial) Davina has resistance 5 against negative energy damage. She does not lose hitpoints when she gains a negative level and she has +2 racial bonus on saving throws against death effects, energy drain, negative energy, and spells or spell-like abilities of the necromancy school.
Detect Evil (Sp) Davina can cast detect evil at will. As a move action, she can concentrate on a single item or individual within 60 feet and determine if it is evil, learning the strength of the aura as if she had studied it for three rounds. While focusing on one individual or object, the paladin does not detect evil in any other object or individual within range.
Divine Grace (Su) Davina gains a bonus equal to her Charisma bonus on all saving throws.
Divine Health (Ex) Davina is immune to all diseases, including supernatural and magical diseases.
Extra Lay on Hands (Feat) Davina can use Lay on Hands an additional 2 times per day.
Halo (Racial) Davina can manifest a halo, creating light centered on her head at will as a spell-like ability. When using her halo, she has +2 to Intimidate checks vs evil creatures, and on saving throws against blindness or dazzle effects.
Inspiring Word (Sp) As a standard action, Davina can speak an inspiring word to a creature within 30 feet. That creature receives +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 her cleric level. Davina can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Wisdom modifier.
Immortal Spark (Racial) Davina has a +2 bonus to Knowledge (history) and saving throws against death attacks. She can use lesser age resistance as a spell-like ability once per day.
Lay on Hands (Su) Davina can heal wounds by touch. Six times per day, she can heal 1d6 points of damage as a standard action (swift if healing herself). She can also use this ability as a touch attack to deal damage to undead.
Leadership (Feat) Davina's leadership score is 17; she may have a 6th level cohort that can be leveled up to 12th, in addition to 30 1st level followers, 3 2nd level followers, a 3rd level follower, and a 4th level follower.
Resistant Touch (Sp) Davina can touch an ally to grant him her resistance bonus (+1 to all saving throws) for 1 minute. She loses the resistance bonus for the same time. Davina can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Wisdom modifier.
Sacrifices (Su) Davina can sacrifice her divine grace ability as a swift action, granting it to an ally, using one use of her lay on hands ability, with a range of touch, and lasting for 5 rounds.
Scion of Humanity (Racial) Davina counts as both an outsider and a human, and can pass for human without using the disguise skill.
Smite Evil (Su) As a swift action, Davina chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, she adds her Charisma bonus to her attack rolls and adds her paladin level to all damage rolls made against the target of her smite. If the target is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to 2 points of damage per paladin level. Regardless of the target, smite evil attacks bypass DR.
While smite evil is in effect, Davina gains a deflection bonus equal to her Charisma modifier against attacks made by the target of the smite.
Vital Strike (Feat) When Davina uses an attack action, she can make a single attack at her highest base attack bonus that deals additional damage equal to the weapon's normal damage. She rolls the weapon's damage twice before adding Strength, weapon abilities, precision based damage, or other damage bonuses. The extra roll of damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.


Greetings all! I've just had a spot open up in my classic Forgotten Realms (updated to PF, of course) PbP campaign and I'm looking to fill it! We've currently got five full-time players:

Hezar, a human ranger;
Janiries, a sun elf rogue;
Landon, a human inquisitor/paladin;
Ariael, a moon elven magus; and
Belgrin, a shield dwarf fighter.

I'm looking for a divine caster who can channel positive energy to fill out the group. The player we lost was a human cleric of Helm; preference will be given to applicants who are interested in playing a divine caster who worships one of the Gods most popular amongst the goodly folk of Tethyr: Helm, Torm, Ilmater, Lathander or Tymora. There is already a druid NPC who is closely aligned with the party.

A few notes:
- you'll start at 3rd level, 25 point buy, 2 traits subject to my approval
- I'm looking for someone who will post reliably - that's at least once a day.
- someone who likes to roleplay and can contribute to the party dynamics in a positive fashion
- someone who can pick up their fair share in combat: there will be a lot of fighting ahead!
- all core PF materials are fair game (core, APG, ARG, UC, UM) - materials from 3rd edition FR will be examined on an as-needed basis.
- a houserule: clerics get their heavy armour proficiency back.
- another houserule: clerics get access to all the core cleric spells, and can add three spells per level gained from other sources (with approval) - those sources can include APG, UC, UM, and 3rd edition sources. You don't automatically gain access to ALL cleric spells from all sources. There are deity specific spells, too!
