Let's get the details finalized and out of the way so you can start a' rambalin'.

Create your character sheet, select two traits(One campaign and another one), and fill in any details you desire on the background. Once the background is finished, I'll look through my deck of Plot Twist and Plot Twist: Background cards one of each that fits with what you've told me. Sound good?

Sounds good to me. I'll have it up later tonight. I actually have a character sheet done already, but I'm going to look over it before putting it up in case I overlooked anything, and to keep any more silly mistakes from being revealed. You know, like that doozy where, in translating the character from a solo story about him and his friends chasing the orc that burned down the church where he was raised to a character for Jade Regent, I completely forgot to mention how he came to the most important decisions of his life: choosing a religion and deciding to become an Inquisitor.

Interesting tidbit regarding Desna and inquisitors'

"Monks, paladins, and inquisitors, while
they appreciate the power and tradition of Desna, have no
patience for the variability of the faith." Faiths of Purity p.6

However, Haze of Dreams, the special spell for Desna's faithful, is an inquisitor spell.

Also, inquisitor is a trained class, so who gave Aldel his training? He was based off an earlier character, are you keeping the raised by the church bit? What lead him to choose the inquisition over they clergy?

Hope this isn't too much. A lot of the fun for me in a story is learning about various characters, and since you're making this one, I get to bug the author for more details. ^_^

I'm going to go ahead and say that yes, he was raised by the church.

Aldel doesn't know much about his parents, only that his mother was an elf and died in childbirth. Aldel's father tried, but he found that he couldn't handle the constant reminder of his loss that the child provided, and turned him over to the Sandpoint Chapel, and once there he was given over to Abstalar Zantus. Raised as he was in a temple that revered six different gods, he could have chose any of them to serve, but instead he chose Desna, the Goddess of his adoptive father. Zantus raised him as a son, though he couldn't help but notice that Aldel seemed to believe that others looked down on him for being a half-elf. Regardless, as a ward of the church, Aldel was raised and trained to become a leader of it.

After the events of the Late Unpleasantness, he confessed to Zantus that he didn't feel worthy of leading the church. He also said that he felt that he could better serve Desna as an Inquisitor. Surprisingly enough, Zantas agreed, and sent him to Magnimar for the next few years, to train under a retired Inquisitor of Desna.

When he arrived, the man was not what Aldel was expecting, He was old, and bent with a missing left arm. But he was still strong, and fast. First, the old man sent him to the church of Iomedae for a few weeks, to train and spar with the Paladin trainees, and then the old man taught Aldel the flaws in so regimented a fighting style. He taught Aldel that Desna hates violence, even among her Inquisitors, so that he should takes steps to end every fight as quickly and brutally as possible, to prevent others from starting. He has been back in Sandpoint for about a year to finish his training and officially become an inquisitor. Since his return, most of his free time has been spent out in the woods with Shalelu. He has always admired her, but it wasn't until recently that he had the courage to seek her out. She seemed fairly pleased with his company as well, she began teaching him some of the survival skills she picked up along the way.

Hope that wasn't too much. If you want to come up with a name for the old inquisitor, feel free.

Character is done, here he is in all his glory. Well, I hope so, anyway.

Male Human Student 1

Nope, I like what you gave me. I'm off to class right now, so I should have the first post of gameplay up in the next 5 hours or so. (That didn't work out so well last time though...)

Male Human Student 1

Sorry about the disappearance. Power was out at the apartment and been busy on campus.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor 1

No problem. I'm having a great time playing silent badass so far.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor 1

Hmm,that's kind of a creepy avatar you have there, I like it. Makes you wonder all sorts of things, like who does that eye belong to, and why did they leave it just lying around?

Male Human Student 1

Thanks! I felt it suitably DM-ish. Fair warning, I am swamped with school, so may not be able to post today or tomorrow.

I have a paper due soon that is going to consume my entire soul. Posting will be, more, irregular.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor 1

So just so we are clear, would Aldel think that there is still something suspicious going on, or does it look more like Walthus is mad as a hatter?

Good question, and that's really up to you, as you've got the best hold on how Aldel sees things. A suspicious person would probably suspect something is going on. If nothing else, nobody acts this odd without something worth investigating happening. However, there aren't any obvious signs that Walthus is lying, or being anything but helpful, he did give a healing potion to your companion after all, and he does have a reputation for being weird, maybe getting attacked by a shapeshifter just unhinged him a bit more.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor 1

So how would the axe be +4? My BAB is still 0, and I have +3 strength.

I meant for damage.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor 1

So, what's up?
