Every ones so sensible you act like a life of crime has some longevity to it hehe. Healing I can do a bit of that now and then and Great hell's it could be all Lady gang. Why dos the tank always have to be Male.
Wile a lot of crocks like to work on being smart, clever and the wise in the wise guy, the core of any gang is Malevolent intimidating violence, the kind of off hand brutality that makes other fear and gains respect, if you talk the talk you have to walk the walk. Aylya not only walks the walk, she positively rips up the trail and screams in ecstasy at its manifestation.

Great job on the lists Lady Natalia and Dread Pirate Hurley!

I am fine with mature content as well, as I too am an old, experienced gamer. :-)

Stiehl9s here.

This will be the alias for my Rogue 1/Cleric - Hidden Priest of Norborger 2

and then Ill answer the 3 questions before starting in on background. That might not get posted until tomorrow sometime.

For mature content I think you my have to read my Answers to the three Questions. So you could say Im just fine with that. You know I think I love this PC she such a bad lady. Have added a healing spell so that she can off it as well and make two healers in the party if shes picked, Voice.

Aylya as her self IMAGE

When the bear comes IMAGE

Lady Natalia,
You still have Improved Familiar listed, which currently offers no benefit. Why don't you switch it out for something useful, and if your chosen, we'll find a way to get you the feat(or at least the better familiar) in game.

Crunch complete except for some minor shopping. Still needs polished up also.

3 Questions:
1) What, exactly, can you bring to the Blood Knives? Be as specific and detailed as possible.

It doesnt take a genius to see this group is suffering from too many captains. What I bring to the table is the ability to and an affinity for getting my hands dirty. Doing the kind of work that others scoff at but needs done regardless. Disposing of bodies...dont ask, patching up amateurs after they screw up, playing out cons to the end and collecting the coin when its done. My magic is a boon to any force and I have...certain esoteric knowledge as well.

2) You're able to survive and thrive quite nicely, where do you see yourself two years from the start of the game? In other words, what personal goals, outside of the anything to do with the Blood Knives, would you like to accomplish??

Two years is a good start but real plans take alot longer to bring to fruition. It is enough time to collect a fair amount of coin and the gear required for higher endeavors. There's seas of gold to be had in Absalom. I have absolutely no designs to be the head of any organization by then. Maybe run a Hand or some such...

3) You're caught in the act. How do you get away? Answering "I never get caught" is the wrong answer and will get you feed to my pet Daemon.

Hahaha! Well alot of young bloods think they're never gooing to get caught or that they have the skills or strength of arms to avoid it at the end. But the truth is getting pinched is inevitable in this line of work. The dark Lord knows Ive done some time...quite a bit of it. its no feast day but it isnt the end of times either. Sure I'll resist when they catch me red handed but not to the point of getting a belly full of steel over it. If my tricks cant get me clear then I'll trust to the silver tongue of the lawyer I have on retainer or the Blood Knives bribes if Im still worth it. Otherwise I'll sit and plot while doing my bid.

As that was my noncombat feat, I have swapped it out for Deceitful, which will improve bluff and disguise by +2

My apologies LADY Natalia. I had thought to follow suit with the others and call you by that name, but decided perhaps you would enjoy something....different for a change. I will keep your preference in mind for the future.

Take 10 Bluff for 20. Would be 23 but you are not a lawful leader. That's fine i can take a punishing now and again

I'm gonna let the psycho/sociopaths (characters of course) have this one...

Red here, I'd just like to post in my alias to put a name and face to the character.

crunch is coming along and I'll produce a backstory soon after.

He is pretty much a literal wolf in sheep's(elf's) clothing

essentially brainstorming follows.

Spoiler:

Castieen is kind of an odd concept, an urban barbarian with a beast totem, as well as a bite attack in addition to claws thanks to the animal fury talent. Rough concept is at a young age (for an elf) after training to be a warrior in some elven community, young Castieen( which may or may not be his true name) was overwhelmed with bestial fury and tore his family asunder with his claws one dark dreary night. The forever scarred elf fled under cover of darkness across the world. After stints as a beggar and thief and years in jails here and there for minor crimes, He winded up in Absalom, carving out a comfortable living as a deadly pit-fighter in the seedy underbelly of the city.

After some time he attracted bigger fish with his animal ferocity, hunter's mentality, silver tongue, and golden face. He works as an enforcer, contract killer, and extortionist. He's worked largely on his own but is cunning in his wit and knows when to deal for the greatest gains. He eschews weapons that cannot be easily concealed in his waistline and armor entirely. He prefers to dress in the finest apparel and jewelry his lucrative trade can afford. He doesn't mind to get dirty in his clothes, he'll simply buy new ones( but he'll certainly complain about losing a favorite item). He believes a fool is born every minute, and consequentially, a coin to be made off of said fool.
He's an intimidating, unnerving prescence. He's quite attractive, and knows how to enhance it further with his imposing wardrobe. He's a man brimming with controlled rage; Able to unleash furious teeth and claws at a moments notice, despite his austere, even appealing appearance.

*crosses fingers* Good luck everyone!

Qadira

Uhhh... yah me too guys.

PS nice mask ^ ... that is a mask right?

I dare you to pull on it and find out. *mischevious smile*

Qadira

Quick tug on nose
Sleight of hand 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20"OW! My face...what the hell is wrong with you man!"

Qadira

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
"Well, you dared me, didn't you? I have a hard time saying no to dares, and I sure wouldn't turn down someone offering a tug on their... uh... nose."

Inkarus lets out a laugh and then removes the mask. However under that mask his face is painted pure black. "Just pulling your leg. I couldn't resist." He winks and then offers his hand, "Names Mudd...Inkarus Mudd."

I was refering to me personally not the character. I have issues personnally with crimes against children. The Penn State mess and the church cover-up all in my home town area.

I'm fine with mature content, though The Darkstalker is not interested in anything like that. He's a thief, pure and simple, and though he does occasionally take someone's life, it's usually in self-defense or because they greatly offended him. Stealing is his main goal.

Alright, I've decided I am going to close recruitment for new players only.

Those of you who have posted interest, but have yet to fully submit a character, you still have a few days left.

I am also going to announce my first three choices for players:

Kyrani Tabadore

Lady Natalia.

Congratulations to you first three.

Irasa's Background:

Irasa Lerus is a more or less common thug. The Lerus family has long been involved in the seedy underbelly of the Cheliax capital of Egorian. Because of his Oread nature his family encouraged him to become a bard, or maybe a cleric of Asmodeus, to give a veneer of legitimacy to the family business, and because they believed that he stood out too much to be useful otherwise. He decided to become a bard, though his parents were apparently ignorant of certain hangups that Irasa possessed, because they enrolled him in a bard's college in Absalom.

Luckily for him, Irasa opted for a wagon ride down the river to Westcrown, before he got on a ship for Absalom. Irasa never knew that he would be afraid of deep water, but he learned on that trip. He feared that if he was to go overboard, he would sink like a stone, not to mention how utterly unmatched he would be against the creatures of the deep, so the trip to Absalom was spent in utter terror. In fact, the only relief he got on the trip were those moments that he plotted revenge against the sailors that he'd overheard referring to him as an anchor. . .

The ship arrived in Absalom without incident, but not before Irasa had abandoned his plans of becoming a bard, or more accurately, abandoned any plans of returning home. As ashamed as he was of his fear, he had decided that he would never get on another ship again, certainly not for long enough for the shore to vanish beyond the horizon. Resigning himself to a life in Absalom, it didn't take long to fall in with the local criminal element, through the church, of all things. Because Asmodeus doesn't rule over Absalom, his church has ties to various criminal organizations, mostly to keep the magisters on their toes.

Irasa decided to train himself as a monk in hopes that the focus and discipline involved would help him overcome his fears. His role in the organization is likely either a bodyguard, or a tough, and he has a code of honor that would make his god proud. He will not harm a child outside of self defense, though women are fair game, as they can be as much of a threat as any man. He will never break a promise if it can be avoided, and so rarely makes promises, and his loyalty is absolute to those he believes are deserving.

Three Questions:

1) What, exactly, can you bring to the Blood Knives? Be as specific and detailed as possible.

There are many answers to that, but as a service to the both of us, I'll only cover the big ones. First of all, there is the fact that as a member in good standing of a Chelaxian noble house, I offer an air of legitimacy to your fine organization. I realize that might not be enough, since we are a long way from Cheliax, so there is also the fact that I can do things in ways that others can't. I am an accomplished bodyguard, and I know my fair share about narcotic effects. Finally, my ability to fight well without armor would make makes me an accomplished scout, or spy, especailly if there are no locked doors in the way.

2) You're able to survive and thrive quite nicely, where do you see yourself two years from the start of the game? In other words, what personal goals, outside of the anything to do with the Blood Knives, would you like to accomplish?

I will start by saying that I am not looking to lead. I would not step into a leadership position unless there was no one more capable than me, which there might not. As to where I'll be, it's hard to say, between you and me, I might not be a member of the Blood Knives by then, but only if my wildest dreams come true. My true ambition is to subvert the 'legitimate' government of Absalom, and replace it with one more similar to back home, with Asmodeus and and the emperor ruling side by side. Of course, that would involve overthrowing more than just the government, but a kidnapping here and there, not long after you've got yourself a government that is seen as impotent, and impotent governments don't last. The trick will be getting it replaced with the right one.

3) You're caught in the act. How do you get away? Answering "I never get caught" is the wrong answer and will get you feed to my pet Daemon.

Well, that depends on what is meant by 'caught in the act'. A guardsman catches me doing something untoward? I run, using one of my potions to help me get away if I have to. This town has a lot more shadows than city guards, and I'm willing to bet that I know more hidey holes than the guards know to search. I would not try fighting, unless of course there was only one, and then I would still not kill him if I could avoid it. If I was to get captured, well that's a different question. To be honest I don't know what I'd do, but I have no doubt that it would be the stuff of legends for ages to come!

I'll put him up as an alias if I get picked.

Andoran

Voice of Awesomeness wrote:

OK, Important question time for you players:

Is there anything you are uncomfortable with, ie child/adult slavery, prostitution, etc?

Your answers will not affect my choosing you, just will give me an idea of where I can take this game.

While you guys are evil, there won't really be any vile sort of stuff going on, so have no fear there. Unless your ok with that, and it fits the story, of course.

Could somebody do me a HUGE favor? I need a list of the PCs/Players, including classes and the last time they posted. Also, note if they have since withdrawn.

I as a player don't care, though I'm not really interested in reading graphic descriptions of child sex abuse or anything like that.

Ranus accepts that these things exist. He's been involved with all and anything when profitable. However his personal line is drawn at rape.

Edit: As for my extra class skill, it doesn't apply because I already have all those as class skills.

With the three characters you've picked so far, nobody has darkvision and you're lacking muscle. I hope you'll consider those factors when looking at Ranus.

Voice of Awesomeness wrote:

I'm not sure about myself, I'm reasonably sure that I wouldn't have a problem, certainly not enough to cause trouble. That said, Irasa would definately have a problem with child prostitution, slavery would depend on the details.

Oops, I just realized that I put down free for improved bull rush, that was actually his level two bonus feat. Also, Nimble Moves is his free noncombat feat, and Knowledge (local) is his free class skill.

Mad congratulations to The Darkstalker, Kyrani Tabadore & Lady Natalia!

background is finished:

Greed.

It was the perhaps the one thing besides time that was able to raise up kingdoms and tear them assunder and in some way or another inhabited every person to walk the Golarion. Well, at least thats how Cairn believed.

Cairn was born and raised in Absalom and knew it well. His childhood was something that once he became a man he put it behind him and left it there with no attachments. This was something he knew most men were unable to do no matter how high they climbed.

Coming of age he left his home and settled into the Coins where he met with all manner of unsavory people. They filled his head with tales of treasure and the easier ways to get it. It didnt take long for those influences to take root in his impressionable mind. His youth was somewhat wasted on petty thievery and small time cons. After doing a few months for a mugging that left an old man crippled he decided to change his ways and seek honest work.

He had designs to become a mortician. Death was life's one certainty and there was much profit to glean from it. He started out digging graves and maintaining the church of Pharasma's grave yard. It was boring work and gave an impatient Cairn plenty of time to think of easier money. Plus the Lady of Graves wasnt exactly free with coin.

It wasnt long before he fell in with a gang who had connections to the sort of scary individuals that most people wouldnt even talk about. It also wasnt long before the gang was upping the ante on the stakes for a shot at higher profit and not long after that things went bad. They'd used Carin's knowledge of the graveyard to heist a particularly opulent tomb. They had sacks filled with loot and were almost in the clear when the shouts the Lady's guards could be heard near at hand. Two of the devout men cornered Cairn and he filled one's belly with his short sword before he saw a brief explosion of pain followed by darkness.

The trial was quick and decisive. He would spend the next three years in a dark hole unless he gave up the names of his accomplinces. He remembered too well one of the 'boss's' addages that "snitches get stitches" and wisely kept his mouth shut. True to their word they tossed him in a dark cell. He had never felt so alone...

Or was he? He hadnt seen anyone else in the cell before the iron bound door slammed shut and the light with it but there were four definitive voices in the dark with him. They named themselves Father , Reaper, Master and Fingers. He welcomed those voices with open arms and a very open mind. They taught him secrets and he harbored these secrets like treasure. They also gave him hope. Hope that this incarceration wouldnt last forever and that if all he did was believe then he would be saved. And believe he did.

His captors often brought visitors. Visitors that would beat him sensless trying to get him to squeal on the others that had evidently desecrated some supposed Saint of Pharasma. Stangely the voices disappeared during these visits but returned as soon as the door shut again. Feeding his hate and helping him plot his tormentors murders.

He wasnt really sure how long he was in that hole but finally came the day that they let him out. He squinted at the sun's damning light and as he melted into the crowd there was but one thought.

...time to get to work...

still have some minor shopping and profile cleaning but otherwise ready to go Voice of Awesomeness.

Also, well done The Darkstalker, Kyrani Tabadore & Lady Natalia, I have my fingers crossed.

Thanks! Competition was fearce for this and I'm glad I get the oppertunity to play. Good luck to everyone for the last couple of spots

Congrats to the three of you...hope to get in on the fun!

Congratulations to the ones picked thus far! All three of you had superb characters and backgrounds!

Sturk says you need muscle and guile in your party. And some oddness...

On a side note and to the GM, I'm AOK with adult themes.

Thanks for the nod to play I really appreciate the inclusion.

Best of luck to the rest to fill out the group.

Happy to be picked, and looking forward to seeing the rest of the players.

Congratulations to both Kyrani and Lady Natalia.

I do have a question, though. Alezzandro, what book is the Dread class in? I'm interested in reading it.

I agree Sturk! Definitely need some muscle. It seems that one of us would certainly fit that description.

I may not be the strongest here, or the most sturdy, but I can hold my own in open meele as well. Who needs pure muscle when you can get some magic thrown into the mix as well? Not that you two wouldn't look talented.

Looking at the suprisingly high HP of the rest I also just noticed that we could roll and only take half +1 if whe get lower.
If thats still open I would like to do it.

Spoiler:
1d8 ⇒ 71d8 ⇒ 4

That would net me 2 HP if taken on a per level basis or 1 if taken only for all hit dice. Right now I'm not sure how it was meant.

I have also slightly updated his goals (The "2 year" part was intentionally left out since as such it's hard to place a timeline on it).

Spoiler:

Goals: His main goal is, as with most people to live his life as well as possible and dreaming of one day returning to Cheliax as a man of wealth and power at least rivaling that of his "father", having finally left the second class status Tieflings "enjoy" there behind. He is also still searching Korlins murderer and their employer.

@ Thiran - Im pretty sure it was meant on a level by level basis. You can roll and if the result is less than Average + 1 then take the Average + 1. If its higher then take the roll result. In your example you would keep the roll of 7 but take Average + 1 instead of the roll of 4.

This is Dark Netwerk introducing Firavel "Fear" Mandorellian, Inquisitor of Norgorber.

I still need to put together a proper background and finish purchases.

Here is the response to the questions:

DM Questions:

1) What, exactly, can you bring to the Blood Knives? Be as specific and detailed as possible.

As a follower of the god of greed, secrets, poison and murder, Firavel can offer "unholy" guidance regarding that portfolio to the crew. He can craft various poisons for them, if they are willing and able to use them. He also has some skill at healing.

2) You're able to survive and thrive quite nicely, where do you see yourself two years from the start of the game? In other words, what personal goals, outside of the anything to do with the Blood Knives, would you like to accomplish??

Firavel wants to establish a new hidden church of Norgorber to supplant the one he was ousted from (and in fact wouldn't mind seeing the old one ruined).

3) You're caught in the act. How do you get away? Answering "I never get caught" is the wrong answer and will get you feed to my pet Daemon.

Identifying Firavel Mandorellian as the individual called "Fear" who is performing acts of assassination, thuggery, and larceny is often difficult due to his use of disguise and the mask he always wears while "on the job".

If caught on the job, he has several options to choose from (often the choice depends on the job he is doing):
- He can cast Charm Person on the witness and convince them not to call the authorities. Perhaps handing them an item or two that would implecate them in the deed.
- He can talk his way into being released through Bluff and Intimidation.
- He can flee and make it difficult for his pursuers to track.
- He can rely on his spells and poisoned weapons to prevent the witnesses from speaking... ever again...

4) Is there anything you are uncomfortable with, ie child/adult slavery, prostitution, etc?

Not really, although I'd prefer, perhaps, handwaving stuff related to children.

Alright crunch is up in profile, no use to post it here, but here's a back story and the answer to your original 3 questions.

Also, I'm good with whatever mature content but would prefer limited child stuff. I mean it's cool to be mentioned or whatever but no need to be shocking or anything, I think most people would just be uncomfortable with it. Oh and rape ain't cool. But beyond that I'm down for all the maturity you can muster, mister!

Backstory

Spoiler:
Castieen spent his early years in the deserts of Osirion, roaming on burned lands with a tribe of nomadic elves. He trained in the martial ways of his people and thrived in the deepest deserts with his Father and his older sister, their mother had died in giving birth to young Castieen. This would only be his first taste of blood.

Around the time the boy matured into adolescence, a full moon brought on a terrible first contact with his close connection to the beasts of the world. Consumed with murderous rage, and with new-found claws, Castieen tore his father asunder when he tried to calm his lunacy-taken son. Upon seeing the terror stricken face of his sister, he fell out of the rage. He persevered through fatigue and ran as fast as he could through the night, eventually passing out delirious and waking up in chains.

The young elf found himself in a katapesh nightstall slave pin. An underground fighting ring had picked up a rare pale, sun touched desert elf, a lucky find passed out in the outskirts . He was a wiry, relatively small specimen and was expected to take a good beating at the hands of a barrel chested Osirian man. A great draw in the nightstalls. He surprised his opponent and the crowd by spinning into a bestial rage and killing the man in a spray of blood.

Castieen was successful fighter, but still a slave. His killer instinct attracted unsavory attention from a street gang, who strong-armed the ownership of Castieen from the small time fight organizer. He lived for a year as not much more than an attack dog until he decided he was tired of being owned. Under cover of night, with light from the Full moon once again, Castieen murdered his owner, stole his fine clothes and as much jewelry as he could pull off without being suspicious. He bribed his way aboard a cargo ship to nearby Absalom with the fine gold and silks and set sail to start a new life in the city at the center of the world.

He's lived his life here in Absalom for the past 10 years. He's made a living on his own terms through the old familiar pit fight, working as a guard, extortion, and contract killing. His time in the city has dulled his more savage tendencies in everyday life, and he has learned to control his murderous rage. He now taps into the inner reserve of bestial fury with the cold determination of an apex predator. Castieen sees himself as this apex predator in an urban jungle. His high fashion and soft face are necessary camouflage, and admitted points of pride, as a tiger is proud of his stripes. His crimes are beginning to take on a more cerebral angle and he is searching for an organization, of similar predators.

3 Questions
Spoiler:

1) What, exactly, can you bring to the Blood Knives? Be as specific and detailed as possible.

Castien is a cool, collected killer. Think of him like a deadly wise guy, preferring to keep up appearances and have the finest things his criminal life can offer him. As such, he's constantly profiteering. He's a deadly combatant and when in his controlled rage needs no weaponry at all. Given the fact he wears fine clothes and not bulky armor, he is an unexpected melee force. He's intimidating, and altogether unnerving, a wolf thinly veiled in sheep's clothing. He has a way of moving through crowds and also intimidating groups of people. He has a friend in a high place in Dyrianna, and would likely have access to vital information. He's an effective enforcer, undercover guard, hit man, intel broker. Wildly ambitious and deadly.

2) You're able to survive and thrive quite nicely, where do you see yourself two years from the start of the game? In other words, what personal goals, outside of the anything to do with the Blood Knives, would you like to accomplish??

Castieen is concerned with building his network of contacts. He knows the power of information and seeks to strengthen a relationship with Dyrianna and the Ascendant court district of Absalom. The higher up the friends the better. He pays lip service at the very least to Calistria and doesn't mind to make friends in the church. Two years is practically the blink of an eye to Castieen and he isn't the leading type. He'll focus on being high ranking muscle in the next 2 years. The man that is eventually called on for critical times and strikes fear into the heart of any citizen of Absalom. Until then he's content to carry on his hedonistic lifestyle among the slower lived races and make money that is always to be made.

3) You're caught in the act. How do you get away? Answering "I never get caught" is the wrong answer and will get you feed to my pet Daemon.

Depends on the odds. If they're in Castieen's favor he'll always try to bluff his way out of a situation, and if that is called into doubt, he reacts with fury and intimidation. If cornered by 3 or less able bodied men, he'll most likely rage and strike with claws. Also he's never above legging it. He can move through crowds of people unimpeded and can lose almost any pursuer this way. It's also in his experience that if he simply carries on with running/climbing/jumping through the urban jungle, the average guard will simply not be able to keep pace in armor and will be overcome with fatigue before Castieen is. In time he will come to rely on a network of contacts to get him out of trouble but is as of yet relatively low key.

For the record, I won't be asking you to engange in any overly vile acts, period. That's just not the focus of this game.

If any form of child slavery would be brought up, it would be done in general terms. Now if several of the chosen PCs are against that, then I guess if it happens and they want to put a stop it, they'd kinda be hereoes, huh?

Once home, I will go over more apps, and perhaps make a choice or two.

I also plan to set up the ooc thread as well.

looking forward to starting and taking over the underworld of Absalom

I am fine with this

I'm dropping out, I tried to be cruel but its just not me, Also the whole child thing is not to my liking really, just A GM asking has me worried so I'm going to drop. Hope the game is good for any one picked.

Good job on getting picked Darkstalker, Lady Natalia, and Kyrani. If I get picked, then I'm thinking that Irasa would be the sort to give out nicknames to his associates. I haven't come up with what he'd call the others, but I'm thinking Kyrani strikes me as the sort that he'd call Fancy.

Fair warning, (though evil) Sweet does not like kids to be harmed due to her childhood. This could put her in tough RP situations in the future should she be accepted.

For the record, this is all based on role playing. Like Voice of Awesomeness said, Sweet would handle this situation in character. If it bothered her moral compass (as skewed as her compass is), she would react. All of this would only make the RP more interesting and fun in my opinion ;P
