Help me! :) I have a request for an online game. Skype, or even just instant messenger with microphones of some kind? I'm not sure what people have. What I'd really like to do is game a COUPLE times a week for short sessions, late in the evening (late by Eastern time zone standards) rather than once a week for longer. I'm a single mom and can only do post the kid's bed time, at home, RPG. I made a little list below.
This game must:
-have someone else as the GM/Keeper, I've done both, right now I want to be a PC
-occur at least 2-3 times a week for an hour or two
-happen around 10pm eastern time. So a Tuesday/Thursday 10pm-12am game would be IDEAL.
-I'm open to Pathfinder (obviously) or I LOOOVE Call of Cthulhu. I'm also open to learning a new system with a patient GM. :) I'm not horribly experienced
Other stuff, just as consideration:
-I prefer heavier on the RPG aspect, lighter on the battles. Obviously both would be in every story, I just love dialogue.
-I'm ok with either a couple players or even a one-on-one GM/PC campaign. I'm flexible!
Sorry you're not getting much help here. If you're comfortable with Play by Post format instead of a more traditional game, there's a whole lot of that going on here. I find that they work well for people with a mixed bunch of schedules. Many people even find time to be in more than one.
Having a specific times and time zone to have online gaming session is very limiting. Play-by-post (here on the forums) or play-by-email allows for many more players to join you. Just look at the new games continuously being created and snapped up by those observing this forum section. Players often jousting for acceptance in the few positions for the game.
Definitely try Play by post. I have similar schedule constraints and my attempt at organizing a virtual game with all friends died before we got started. Schedules were impossible.
PbP gives you maximum flexibility. I am in three games with negligible time problems so far
