Survivor's Salvation

The creature barely finishes its speech before Varlis' greatsword whips through its neck and jaw. Bone and teeth splinter as the head tumbles back into Heather's web.

End of combat. It had just a handful of hitpoints left. Unless you were really unlucky someone would put it down on your next actions. Any hit would do.

Emerion stands at 30 of 55 hp. Heather was wounded. I believe that she stands at 7 hp of 37

Nicola stands stunned for a moment, then moves to murmur over Heather, touching the mage lightly with healing power.

Cure Mod, burn bull's str: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 = 11

"Your pardon. I had not realized you were so badly wounded."

She sends a wash of healing over the entire group, except for the apparently dead raksasha.

"That was a slippery creature." He says taking his breath and dismissing the writhing mass of tentacles; "A Rakhasa, I believe. I wonder what it was doing here? Since if it was the sorceresses retinue, it appears that they'd be no friend of the monarch."

He holds up a hand acknowledging: "Or course their philosophies may not be in line. But if the creature isn't allied with the sorceress, what was it doing here and why is their a statue?" Phillipe is slightly puzzled.

Nicola beams at the gruff ranger. "Glad to be here to help. Don't get me wrong: aiding the ill is gratifying. But it's much more useful to get to the bottom of things and stop it at its source. Whatever we can do to help... well, it's worth it."

Survivor's Salvation

Heather looks around at the bodies of snakes and rakshasa, at the shed snakeskin at the edge of the altar area, the braziers and the tiger-headed statues.

"He said there were more and the tiger Bahor is their leader." She swings an arm around at the statues ending with the large one. "... or their god?"

Emerion nudges the rakshasa with his boot. Satisfied the thing is dead he wipes his blade clean and grins at Varlis over an outstretched hand. "Well struck, sir. Even with Nicola's charm on my blade, I doubt I would have been able to dispatch him. A true team effort this."

Nothing else of especial interest or note is hidden in the room.

Male Human Ranger 8, AC23/14/19, Hp 70/70, F+8,R+10,W+4, Init.+6, Perc +14, Sense Motive +11

"Can you do that spell on a blade or make me large again? If not, maybe we should hole up and prepare for more of the same after a rest?" Varlis is all business, and hunting death is his trade!

Male Human Wizard/8, AC18/13/15, Hp 34/36, F+5,R+5,W+8, Init.+2, Perc +1, Sense Motive +1

Argeeing with Heather: "It did sound more like their God, or at least Emperor. I believe they are planewalkers, so we should not encounter him." Philippé looks to the shadows with a hint of nervousness.

"I can make you all large, but it seems you rely on your nimbleness to dispatch your foes. To enhance that I should learn." He runs in hand across his soft beard in thought, before snapping back to the moment.

"Plus I can make you hasted once more." There's a certain reassurance from Varlis attitude, that calms the wizard.

F Human (Chelaxian) AC 21/15/17, HP 55/55, Init +3, Perception +11, F +6, R +6, W +9 Cleric 8 (Cayden) [Con -1]

Nicola sighs. "I can't make a blade holy again until I've rested. I'm far from helpless in battle or healing, but that particular prayer is gone. I can feel it."

Survivor's Salvation

You hole up in the temple to tigerman. The doors are the only way in and out and they are solidly constructed and easily wedged.

You wake well-rested and ready for the next day.

Male Human Wizard/8, AC18/13/15, Hp 34/36, F+5,R+5,W+8, Init.+2, Perc +1, Sense Motive +1

Ensuring that his bedroll is tight against the wall and that he has plenty of blanket Phillipe rests well in the temple. Not one to let the strangeness get to him, he doesn't mind the weird Rakhasa temple. However the mixed company is a trifle more disconcerting as is the lack of luxury.

In the morning, the wizard stretches and starts to prepare a warm kettle in anticipation of the breakfast.

Survivor's Salvation

When you wake Heather is examining the cards spread before her and frowning. Seeing that you are awake, she and Emerion gather their goods and equipment, examining and preparing them for the day's combat. Emerion wipes down his rapier. Heather inventories her scrolls.

Heather approaches Philippe and offers him two scrolls. "These will let you see invisible creatures. I think you should take them because I have other means. The rakshasa and his snakes were invisible when we entered the room. I don't know if Arkona's sister has more minions like that."

Male Human Ranger 8, AC23/14/19, Hp 70/70, F+8,R+10,W+4, Init.+6, Perc +14, Sense Motive +11

Varlis stretches and tilts his head from side to side, with crackling muscles as he twists his back too.

"So what next? What did the cards say, Heather? You know I can't help feeling that our Lord will slot us for killing his relative. I doubt he would want word getting out of that. If he is one of these creatures, here's betting he is even tougher."

Male Human Wizard/8, AC18/13/15, Hp 34/36, F+5,R+5,W+8, Init.+2, Perc +1, Sense Motive +1

He takes the scrolls gently and with a smile; "Thank you it's most appreciated. You certainly have the sight." The mage nods at Varlis' question, however a bit troubled that the pair are seemingly leaving to research other avenues.

Survivor's Salvation

Heather leans back against the wall. "The future is murky. A .... parting .... lies in our near future, but I can not determine what causes it, or what lies beyond except that hope for Korvosa survives. It is the curse of prophecy. Forewarned, you attempt to avoid your fate but once known your fate is inevitable."

Heather and Emerion aren't leaving yet. I will tell you OOC to prepare your spells as if they wil not be available.

Survivor's Salvation

Emerion finishes his sword and slips it back into the scabbard and pushes to his feet. "Looks like Arkona knew we would get into a fight. Maybe Glorio found out many of his family and retainers were rakshasa and locked them down here. Who knows? I wouldn't bet against him planning to kill us when we go back up."

Survivor's Salvation

I assume you don't want to talk.

In grim silence the party prepares to leave. Varlis and Emerion pull back the brazier barricading the door and pull the heavy door open. Outside the pool laps the beach, gently rocking the boat at the dock. The cavern looks much the same as yesterday.

Perception DC 15:
Three faint but disctint raps of stone on stone followed by three plops like pebbles falling in water. Your eyes dart to the right, in time to see the splach of a fourth pebble in the pool. Looking upward you see bright eyes and teeth. A crocodile head peers over the edge of the last ledge. It stares steadily at the party, before standing. It's body is human and wrapped in simple white robes like the snake-headed rakshasa.

Male Human Wizard/8, AC18/13/15, Hp 34/36, F+5,R+5,W+8, Init.+2, Perc +1, Sense Motive +1

The mage looks to Emerion; "You think he may betray us? Use us to kill his family problems and then assassinate us as 'an act of justice'? Seems these nobles are just like those at home." He winks to his sister.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

"That is if anything he told us was true... which it probably was elsewise he'd have not let us down here." He concedes as he glances around the room, trying to ascertain the correct exit and whether it has any traps upon the threshold.

"Varlis said it first. It's not just Cheliaxian nobles who have devious minds. In contrast to us Varisians, we're simple honest folk." A wisp of irony in Emerion's voice says he doesn't believe everything he just said.

The only way out of the tiger temple is the way you came in. The beach and the boat. There are no traps upon the door between the two.

I'll roll Heather's and Em's perception if you all fail. That will be the general rule until they depart.

Can't fluff this perception so everyone can read the spoiler.

"You've got it." Phillipe shares a look with his sister and then looks out to the water. "Large or agile?"

Keeping his voice low; "Any chance it's friendly, or that we can at least parley to gain more intel? What's the odds do you surmise."

Nicola manages a nervous grin at Varlis, still keeping her eyes on the crocodile man. "It's probably a good idea to clarify who the lord of this place is. Sieur Rakshasa here may have a different idea than we do."

Survivor's Salvation

"Lord Arkona sent you? SShhmm. " He takes a step back, then leans forward again.

His jaws click awkwardly at times and at others can't seem to close fast enough to shape his words, making his speech alternately clipped and slightly slurred. "Avidexu, is the keeper of Bahor's temple. He's a tall man with golden skin and hair and a pair of snakes."
