Whatever is easiest for you, really. I have no problem with Em, Heather, & Laori pressing ahead into the building and the others getting delayed or something, or of running them between Wellard and I.

Let's see what Wellard says.

Neil Spicer, you out there?

Hey. Yes. I'm still around. And yes, I'm on deadline. A series of short deadlines all stacked together, actually. Additionally, I had thought Istas was staying behind to meditate and prepare her spells for helping the scarred girl. Wasn't necessarily my intent to have her tag-along on what I initially thought was just going to be a scouting mission, but I can see it apparently turned into something more than that. I've also been out of pocket a bit. There was PaizoCon, then a family vacation, and soon...GenCon, which all hit in quick succession. Coming back to the office from those things (and my other freelance commitments) slowed me down considerably. So, apologies for not checking in recently. Vacations and summer trips often seem to have a slow down effect for a lot of games.

We could put the game on hold til end of August. We can continue with Em and Heather and Laori and I'll dream up something to detain Istas and Varlis. I can DMPC I and V. Or Dabbler and Wellard can adopt I and V until Neil and FW return.

Any of these seem reasonable to me, especially with GenCon looming as I'm going to be out of pocket during that entire time. Plus, I'll have to hit the freelance pretty hard when I get back to meet my deadlines. That said, the game seems to be proceeding fairly well. And, this particular chapter isn't really Istas' moment (story-wise) to shine as much as it would be for Emerion, Keliwyn, Heather, Varlis, etc. When we get into History of Ashes, that's when Istas will move back into the limelight a bit with her Shoanti background. So, for now, she's very much in a supporting role to wherever the rest of the players want to take their character development over the course of Escape From Old Korvosa. Thus, I defer to their good judgment.

My two cents,
--Neil

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Thanks for the info, Neil. Good luck on those deadlines.

Given this turned into reconnaisance in force, it seems out of character for Istas to stay at Morino's. My preference would be to have Varlis and Istas picked up by Pilt's guys while they waited to ascend the rope. That way they are handy, but not rigfht in the action.

Well I'm away till Sunday night my time as it is..no Web access so I guess we are on hold till then. After that I'm happy to go with Thom's last suggestion.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

See you all Sunday night or Monday then.

Odd, my browser only just registered these last two posts!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Work's gotten quite busy. It may be a few days before I post again.

The Exchange

Hi Chaps

Its going to take at least 20 working days for the Islands Comms company to set up broadband at my home. 10 for a landline, then 10 more for the broadband itself. They have a monopoly here.

Until then posting will be very irregular, with hindsight I should have known they would be this slow.

Anyway I'll be back.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

FW, sorry to hear that. That's ridiculous. Here we wait a week at the outside for installation and the interconnection is on as soon as the wire is run.

BTW, still a little swamped. My posting will be slow on this game.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

The channel islands are only a few square miles apiece, they have limited resources for anything new. FW, can you get a signal at a coffee shop or similar?

just as well you are slowed Thom will give Andy(FW) a chance to get up and running again..

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Should be able to post tonight!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

So Tuesday didn't work out as planned.

I'm sorry guys. Lunch today is looking good.

I'll try to get back on track.

Hey, Neil just to let you know we finally defeated the Tatzlewyrm but it beat us up so badly we had to totally rebuild the party organisation.

The new configuration is up against the sprites and doing much better.

Cable and Wireless have a monopoly here. Guernsey time is a tad slower in every respect.

Unfortunately with 2 kids off and sunny weather I seem to be forced onto the beach and into the waves until school starts in a week or so. I have joined the local library to add an extra opportunity.

I am fine with sitting this out until my home is up and running.

Cheers

I used to work for Cable & Wireless.

You poor sod.

Good news with the weather and the sea tho!

Forced unto the beach?

Enjoy the sun and waves. We're moving pretty slowly anyway.

Away until Tuesday. That will bring us to September and maybe the end of FW's electronic exile?? If not a bright little combat will help us pass the time.

Exile now has a finish date. Dabbler was right about Cable and Wireless. I rang them on Monday to ask what was happening with my landline. They said it can take ten to fifteen days. I replied we were on day 14. She checked and happily answered that the number had been set up on 20 August.......but no one had told me. Then she apologised.

Now it is a similar wait while the broadband is made active. D Day is promised as 27 Sep. Ye Gods!

And the funniest part is that they inform you by letter for both internet and landline. So that adds a day or two to everything.

Cheers

Don't you just love living in the 21st century?

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Not as funny as when your computer's internet doesn't work and telephone tech support tells you to get on-line so they can fix it. That was my favorite.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

<Facepalm>

Yes, had that in the early days of internet.

Survivor's Salvation

So with a hard date for FW's return in two weeks, I'm feeling better about the amount of DMPCing I'd have to do. I'm going to retcon Varlis and Istas climbing up after the choker fight. They have followed along with you and are watching the hallway while you explore the rooms.

The Exchange

So my landline doesn't actually work. sigh This is going to be my lasting memory of moving here. I am not sure which century I am living in here but the 21st it ain't!

I've stopped reading all the game threads because my opportunities for internet time are limited now my son and wife are in school.

But on the positive side, I did get some Live Action Roleplay all Sunday. They even remembered my old character from 11 years ago. The weather went a bit nasty towards the end but playing a zombie or ghoul was fun. Chasing girls as a slaver even better.

Then last night I joined a group and played Shadowrun for the first time. It was great and the bonus was we played in a game shop that one of the lads owns. Great fun!

Cheers

Chasing girls as a slaver..you lucky dog..the question is off course did you catch any.

LOL

The Exchange

Nope. Got sandwiched between two knife wielders and stabbity stabbity soon lost me 14 hits. But the look on one chaps face when I charged him was priceless.

Should have broadband by next week!!

cheers

Varlis is back and ready to fight. Home is now live as of today.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Excellent! Glad you're back FW.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Wellard, are you intentionally blowing off the spoiler?

huh?

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Istas and Heather:

The motley gnome looks familiar.

Hint. You've met him twice already.

Oh that..I honestly cant remember..

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Usually if I drop something like that, it's an invitation to search the thread, if you want to. (I find it far harder to remember details like that in PbP than at a table. The longer time span.)

Hey, all, I've been following along for some time and am enjoying things as a spectator. I'm not looking to get back into the game (although if a natural opening presented itself, I'd be happy to rejoin), but have a quick question - I'm not tracking all the bonuses for Varlis' ranged attack, FW, and am curious where they come from. I see 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 4 + 1 and figure the +4 is for favorite enemy and the +1 for haste, but where does the +2 come from?

Thanks

The Exchange

Cats Grace

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Hi ya, Bill! When I saw V's numbers, I did a double take too. Not only are the bonuses high, but he's been rolling well enough that I don't have an excuse to put one of his arrows in Istas' back.

The Exchange

Varlis has got deadly aim and rapid shot soon if that helps reduce his chances of hitting!

Thanks, FW, and hey, TT! Yeah, Varlis is a killing machine, and IMHO, just what the group needed.

yup..Dedicated archers can do that to you...I had a player with onein one of my campaigns and at 9th level he was killing everything he shot at.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

We need a good damage dealer; Emerion is OK, but until he starts getting levels in Duelist his damage is going to be lacklustre. Still, he's doing very well so far in this fight.

Emerion makes a great blackjack, btw, Dabbler. Very entertaining. I like that bit.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Thank you Bill! One does one's humble best - I had no idea a character like Blackjack even existed before I dreamed up Emerion, but I confess he is tailor-made for the role!

So now we know Emerion looks like Tyrone Power..lol

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Antonio Banderas in Zoro, more like.

My dear boy Tyrone Power is the only Zorro...the others were but pale imitations

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

What about Anthony Hopkins?

My laptop has crashed badly. It may be next week before I can post regularly. I will post as opportunity arises, but please DM-PC Romon if waiting for me would hold up the game.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Oh you can't beat him as an actor!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Sorry, guys. Took a long weekend with the wife. I meant to let you know Thursday before I left, but work was too busy. Today or tonight won't work well. Wednesday -- probably night -- before I post.
