Good luck, Neil. I admire the way you encourage and advise people on the boards in addition to writing. We're entering a possibly Istas-intensive segment of Crimson throne, but I can write her out by having her "prepare" for the speak with dead ritual while the others deal with it. Your call, just let me know.
FW,
Solo game. He was looking for what was going to be a recurring villian. He'd injured him and was tracking by sound through a forest at night. I let plot over-rule game and ruled that his companions coming up from behind made too much noise so the villian got away.
He immmediately sensed the DM fiat and the underlying unfairness. He was really upset. My only defense is that I had a nice story arc planned and I hadn't DM'd in over 15 years.
Last year I spent hours working on Superstar. I had three or four ideas. Agonized over them. And really my best wasn't that great. This year I don't have the time with work the way it is.
Good luck with the Christmas writing Neil. And 2 kids. And a job. Impressive.
It's 3 kids, actually. A 6-, soon-to-be 5-, and 1-year old. ;-)

Yeah, we may need to go that route. No need for a long protracted speak with dead roleplay scene. You guys all know that's her intent. I expected us to come up with the questions to ask each corpse as a group. So, you guys proceed with that. Istas can be the enabler, but you don't need me there to roleplay it out.

I'm starting a game soon for my kids and my god-daughter and my ex-wife ... should be fun!
Speaking of reduced posting, Neil Spicer! Are you going to be super busy this month judging and advising and what not? Shall we ever see Akorian again? (Just wondering. Your choice. I've got a week of red herrings for the rest of the party before the play starts.
Not only is RPG Superstar going to tie me down, but I've got my Carrion Crown vampire-themed adventure kicking my butt. I just got some feedback from Rob and they want to change some things in my outline. So, I'm now further behind than I thought I was. So, unlikely to hear much substantive from me until January or thereabouts...though I'll pop in now and then, of course.
That's cool. To some degree I envy you. I put my boy right off gaming with one really awful DMing decision.
Can you spill the beans before my four-year-old gets interested?
I've got four kids and they all love Dungeons and Dragons. My advice it to make sure they level up on their very first game. Sounds too easy but it works wonders. And for the first few games don't worry overmuch about plot. Kids like to kill monsters and take their stuff. (Though they sometimes forget about the taking their stuff part.
Guys, although we are not at a good break point, (terrible in fact) work continues to pile up and I've got extra family and other concerns. I'm going to put this game on a "slow posting hiatus" until after Christmas. I will be posting maybe once or twice a week until then.
I hope it is not too big an inconvenience for you and that you will remain interested in the game. I look forward to picking back up at full speed after Christmas or the first of the year.
Special shout out to Neil, for dropping by to play Istas despite his schedule. I would not have done just to her as a DMPC.
Happy New Year, everyone, and my apologies, yet again, for disappearing. Unfortunately, you'll have to keep me counted out. Life & work have been crazy again, and will be even more so for the next month or two. So, I'll follow when I can, and thanks for all the fun. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, I'll be able to pick up some pbp again and see some of you in other games.
Wellard, I've had maybe three days in game to work that stuff in.
For those who want to know when some pretties will come their way:
Spoiler:
Those who raided the perfume shop may look forward to a payday at the party you were invited to. Kenan and Emerion are temporarily out of luck, but we'll find something for them.
Sorry about slow posting. Work will be super busy again today. It may be Friday night before I get back on track.
Well, finished the big project. The eastern US storm is going to hit me hard. Just got into work 3 hours late. I'll be shoveling snow tonight and tomorrow morning. I promise a post by Friday night though.
I have a three day DnD weekend at my house from the 18th March, which involves lots of background prep. As such I am taking next week off, i.e. 13th to 21st March from the boards.
I am sorry if that messes up the plans for Kenan but my posting has been gradually slowing up lately writing adventures and drawing maps etc and that will only get worse.
TT, well done on hitting the three year mark though. Good stuff.
Cheers

Good grief why can't you just mark the equinox by dancing naked round a bonfire like normal ... er, on second thoughts, forget I mentioned it ...
Sorry, guys. Same customer as last week called Tuesday, "Can you be here this afternoon?" Trying to catch up on all the stuff we dropped to take care of them. It pays the bills anyway.
Anniversary this weekend; got some plans with the wife. I'll try to get a post or two in this weekend though.
It's a shame but I have decided to stop playing on the boards for a long while. My energy levels and creativity have suffered alot since having a second child and my spare time has gradually disappeared over the last few months. There are too many household chores, DIY projects and the like which need to take precedence now. I may even have an opportunity to contribute to one of the 3PP companies in the UK so these games have to be sidelined, even the ones I run.
Thanks for the opportunity to game with all of you, but especially you TT and I wish you well in the future.
Wicht, are you around? You're being asked for in the RotRL game. I hope you're okay and just busy knocking out all that freelance stuff you've been working on.

I hope he is ... as an aside, what were the exact details of the shipment for Dr. Davaulus in the ship's log? I'd like to quote chapter and verse at him ...
Emerion quickly finds the latch and the box slides easily open. It contains a collection of ledgers, invoices, and the deed to the Direption, all from a group noted as “B7,” titling one “R. Davaulus” with ownership of the ship and a cargo noted only as “specimens.”
Emerion Brightsmith wrote:
"It's damning evidence all right," Emerion agrees. "Davaulus himself owns the ship that brings the plague to the city, and it's crew are the cult of Urgothoa with doctors masks and instructions to go about their work spreading the plague disguised as healers. Only a signed confession could be more incriminating."
I would be very much remiss, by the way, to not give a very public and open thank you to our wonderful DM for soloing Keliwyn along for a whole year just to get me back into the game.

I'll check in over there.

I knew it was somewhere, I just didn't have the time to find the page.

Ah well They stand condemmed by their own thoughts..I just hope we are strong enough to take this group on and if we win we'll probably have to hustle on out of the hospice and go to ground because I'm sure there will be a price on our heads shortly thereafter
Don't forget you guys met with and reported this to the Guard, was it?

Well you can always web the Grey Maidens, that'll keep them out of trouble long enough for the cultists to show their true colours and deprive the priests of missile support. Once we have dealt with them, they can either back us up in arresting traitors or die as them, their choice - we will, of course, have to appologise to the Queen later (yes that may not happen - but maybe they don't know that).
Just letting you know that my posting rate may drop down a bit. I'm entering a period of some pretty serious deadlines with some heavy work involved. I've scaled back participation in a few of my PbP games (including leaving one of them for now), but I still intend to carry on with Istas as long as I can. This is just a heads up for everyone in case the Shoanti priestess seems even more stoic than usual.
