A shadowy figure stands in one corner of the tavern, his face covered by shadow.

He sips from a mug, the liquid inside seems to be something more expensive than normal ale.

At his waist is a curved blade, he watches you all with amusement. Something draws on you to him

Male Human Wizard 1

Xathrid enters the tavern, ducking beneath the frame and into the darkened room. Pushing back his dampened hood a figure captures his attention. Xathrid moves to the bar, deciding to keep an eye on the man, while he orders a drink.

he leans against the chair, and faintly spins his staff with one hand, keeping an eye on the man and the door.

Iraedra squeezes herself trough the too small(atleast for a Drider) door, having taken the halfork's offer of a free meal, motivated by the lower chance of a bad reaction from a halfork and her current lack of funds (she spend everything on books and scrolls). The drider girl has returned to her true form, after leaving the harbor.

She warily looks around the room, her eyes lingering on one shadowy figure, and walks over to the bar to order some whine, glancing at the figure from time to time.

Waiting and observing, I slide from the shadows when the human (xathrid) arrives near me. "Together this crowd will move out of our way. I have recently taken a room at the Brawler's Grotto Inn, food sucks but the rest of the accommodations are adequate. Join me for atleast a meal?
There are 2 more that I would offer this hospitality. Wait there by that large bale of furs we shall join you momentarily."

I stride over to the wet elf (Sunny) first and then the Spider riding elf (Ireadra). "I will provide a meal. Join me and my friend." I motion to the bale of furs.

Not waiting for further response I turn and stride back to the bale.

Sticking to the shadows as much as possible without drawing undue attention to myself, I enter the tavern and find a tablelarge enough for all of us in comfort. "Wench bring us food and keep our mugs filled' I state just loud enough for the nearest "server" to hear. Reaching into my pouch I take out 3 gold and lay them nonchalantly on the table just in front of me.
Noticing the dark figure upon entering, I motion to him to come join us.
As the spider elf approaches the bar u extend my volume so she can hear me, "I said I would cover this one. Do not be so proud."

Male Human Wizard 1

Xathrid listens to the words of Strigh, silently listening to the overbearing personality with a smile. Spinning the staff slowly in a circle, end over end. Keeping an eye on the drider and the orc, making absolutely no attempt to hide his interest in the group.

A few minutes pass, and the tavern door opens again, a cloaked humanoid enters, not very tall and by the walk, most likely female.

the cloak seems more for protection from the elements than any kind of disguise or attempt to be mysterious.

Once she enters the girls removes the hood revealing an attractive golden blonde haired human well at least by appearance

she looks for a table close to the hearth and drops her pack on the table. she sets a sheathed longsword leaning against the table beside the chair she intends to sit.

The blade and sheath emblazoned with a sword in a sunburst.

she removes the cloak and she is dressed in black, she takes a seat to warm herself by the fire ordering a water and bowl of rice.

The lithe figure of an Elf slips in through the tavern door. Her traveling robes a pattern of red and black, matching the armor beneath. Across her back is a large, gracefully curved blade. Long enough to be wielded by two hands, but still far slimmer than any metal work of Man.

Dotting for place holding. Will equip as soon as I can. *Bows* Thank'e for allowing sunset to play

His voice is not exactly smug, but he just seems to be confidant and slightly annoyed at your assumption that he would help you, but he is willing to help if you are persuasive enough.

the local theives guild has a supply of strange powder from the east coast. The powder is said to create a ball of fire greater than a wizard! I need someone who is willing to help destroy the powder, one way or another.

Male Human Wizard 1

"Really?" intrigue creeps into his voice, thoughts immediately turning to acquisition of the powder. "Did you just decide that random travelers would be the best people to enlist for this job? And besides, what is in it for me?"

These need to be answered be for anything will happen"

definitely something that would require a team.

Suddenly a little grey green lizard dashes out from its hiding place with in my gear and across the table. Stopping long enough to utter a hiss at the hooded figure, it grabs a chuck of meat and rushes back to the security of its previous hiding place. My hand attempts to brush away the nuisance seemingly of its own accord.
A mirthless smile seems to dance in the shadows across my face and into my eyes as I study those who have remained in the common room.

to self
The spider might be useful. The human....seems to eager. The one with her sword resting under her hand would probably be good in a fight but not with subterfuge if that is how we would have to approach this.

He laughs at Xathrid, there are things even I do not question... I work for a group who wants to see the evil powers overthrown, we'd pay 5000 gold each, and 1000 extra for a sample of the powder. We'd even pay you another 1000 to destroy the building entirely. Your contact is a puppet, literally. A figure made of wood and animated. We do not want to be traced, and any intervention from us will be detected. By hiring you, the event will look like random adventures trying to gain renown by getting rid of an important warehouse for the theives guild.

The dimmer chuckles, once more, questions! The powder is a threat, you need nothing more! I like this human, he's got it right. As for the rest of you, be more like him. But I'm out of my pay grade, all you need to know more is that they have put it under guard, not as much as the main base, but still vigorously. They have constructs at the main door, and have trapped the back. The puppet will be on the west side. Give him further questions

With a flourish, the dimmer dissipated into gas.

Sabrina closes her eyes just before the dimmer vanished. she sneered in disgust at the comment concerning being more like human that has such disregard for life's value.

still she detected no evil among them, though her efforts to discern the dimmer were repelled, it is obvious that creature has something to hide.

She returns her blade to where it was, resting, leaning against the table, ready to be drawn should the need arise.

Sabrina returns to her bowl of rice, refusing any ale placed before her.

Once done (which is rather fast), she looks to the others in that remain in the room.

I am Sabrina, and I for one do not trust that dimmer creature. I for one wish to know more before risking my life. regardless of the payment. This powder is a threat, a threat to whom?

She drinks her water, If any among you can give me just cause to pursue this matter then I am ready to hear.

I however am not willing to destroy something with out having guarantee of payment for so doing and the dimmer didnt give a meet me here when done or advanced payment. Still, I am curious to see the powder and what makes it so special and who would pay and what they would pay to keep it or have it."

With a furious gulp I finish the almost full mug of liquid before me and sit back watching the others.

Female Drider Wizard (spellsage) 3

"he didn't give us much usefull information. hmm, I wonder if the process to create a dimmer is in any way related to the process that split the drow form the surface elfs, both granted a darkness, a vision based and a movement power. hmm."

Iraedra is lost in thought, but snaps back when she remembers she was talking to people.

"uhm, sorry, I am Iraedra Myval and I'm a wizard"

Xathrid has a faint smile as he watches the others introduce themselves, "I suppose I am the next to speak," He moves away from the table and towards the group.

"I am Xathrid Vosh, I am a magus of balance, I can use the magics of life and death. I am capable of using my magic to heal or to harm."

His cloak flutters slightly as he bows, using his staff to keep his balance, "Whomever is interested in joining this endeavor will find me a steadfast ally, and quite useful besides." Xathrid ceases his speech and looks to Sunset, whom prompted the discussion, but didn't contribute.

"I am in training as a... Temple defender. A guard, of sorts. While I do not directly channel the presence of the Goddess... I am not with out some ethereal skills. Sabrina looks to the others, while the money offered would be useful in my own endeavors, the killing of innocents is not something I wish to be a part of.

The dimmer was able to repel my attempts to discern his true intentions. That does not sit well with me. While this powder may be important and needs to be eliminated, we must be sure that it is for the right reasons.

Let us seek out this puppet, gather more information, and then see for ourselves. lets us make our own choice as to what should be done.

You can whisper messages and receive whispered replies. Those nearby can hear these messages with a DC 25 Perception check. You point your finger at each creature you want to receive the message. When you whisper, the whispered message is audible to all targeted creatures within range. Magical silence, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal (or a thin sheet of lead), or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks the spell. The message does not have to travel in a straight line. It can circumvent a barrier if there is an open path between you and the subject, and the path's entire length lies within the spell's range. The creatures that receive the message can whisper a reply that you hear. The spell transmits sound, not meaning; it doesn't transcend language barriers. To speak a message, you must mouth the words and whisper.
