male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

Betony your one use of dancing lights right now might be really useful from being a gnome.

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

It's in the back of my mind. I was hoping to use it for misdirection in a confused melee, but just general vision is probably more important.

Surprise Round

Skane moves to face the oncoming foes and bellows his challenge;

"Koma andlit a sonur af the Norður þú huglaus elskhugi af svínsleður hver bardagi í skuggi!"

Skaldic Translation:

Come face a son of the North you craven lovers of pigs who fight in shadow!

Move to A 11 so Rianna and Silar can benefit from my shield (should they hold position)

DMRandall:

Randall... could Bjorn use his Woodland Stride ability to move through the undergrowth and flank the oncoming foes?

Bjornhildr:
Definitely!

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

Wesh will draw his moringstar.

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

to be clear I am drawing the masterwork morningstar

Bjorn(hildr) invokes the power of the bear and moves quickly off through the undergrowth, mighty warscythe glinting menacingly with the moonlight;

Activate Totem Transformation (Senses - grants Low Light Vision & Scent) ability (standard action) and hustle through the undergrowth to A 15 (or thereabout).

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

Surprise Round

Betony giggles a bit and waves her fingers and Fairy Lights appear, small dancing figments of fey light dance and scamper along the blockade. Thistledown sniffs about trying to locate a target.

Cast Betony's version of Dancing Lights

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

bump I think everyone is waiting for light source.

Skane should be holding either a torch or a sunrod (if Rianna gave him one)

Surprise round resolution. No additional light sources readied, as only Wesh mentioned keeping a constant source on the lead scout. Skane was rummaging to find one before the start of the encounter.

The sound of running and twigs snapping from the rear gives just enough time for some of the party to ready themselves against the approaching sound.

Betony winks in a quadruplet of glowing lights, shining forth a small party of savage orcs. They look eager to add to the current collection of assorted ears which dangle about in crude necklaces around their thick necks, some very fresh indeed. A scarred orc looks on from the rear, appearing to dictate the assault.

Wesh pulls out his newly acquired morning-star, readying it for battle.

Bjornhildr skirts around the thick underbrush, the foliage parting way to allow the large man unheeded.

The orcs shrouded in half shadows to the humans hurl a barrage of javelins, beginning the assault.

Orc 1 javelin throw: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 vs Rianna FF
Orc 2 javelin throw: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 vs Rianna FF
Orc 3 javelin throw: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 vs Rianna FF
Orc 4 javelin throw: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 vs Silar FF
Orc 5 javelin throw: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 vs Silar FF
Orc 6 javelin throw: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 vs Silar FF
Orc Pot Leader javelin throw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 vs Bjorn +2AC cover

Confirm Orc 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Damage vs Rianna
Orc 1 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Orc 2 1d6 + 3 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 + (2) + 3 = 14

Damage vs Silar
Orc 4 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Orc 5 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Skane can redo his surprise round if he wishes due to the new light sources and everyone can act on round 1 except Skane.

MAP after orcs open up.

BTW, the forest undergrowth is heavy and has the associated movement costs.

Aye Randall I'll redo Skane's surprise round if that's cool...

Surprise Round

Skane bellows the same challenge but moves to engage one of the orcs, swinging his axe hard at the brute's scarred head whilst hunkering behind his own trusty shield;

Move to -B 13 and attack orc in -C 14 (Fighting Defensively for +2 AC):

Fighting Defensive MW Battle Axe attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Battle Axe Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Skane's AC is 21 for Round 1...

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

yay orcs did not draw weapons after throwing javelins so but I think they just dropped Silar and Rianna.

Wesh after seeing the barrage of javelins chanels energy from Desna and then moves next to the at orc at -c13 moving around the difficult the underbrush in his armor with grace
1d6 ⇒ 2
one use of agile steps used.

Female Pure Strain Human Enforcer 1

"What! No! Stupid, stupid..."

Rosslyn dives back into the underbrush, looking for a good place to snipe from.

Double move to H8, draw bow.

Round 1

AC: 15 HP: 25/25 CONDITIONS: Totem Transformed (Scent & Low Light Vision)

The Great She Bear of the North bursts forth from the thicket, war scythe arcing towards the nearest orc with a feral growl;

Moves to -B16 via A16, -A17, -B17 then attacks orc in -B15

MW Scythe Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

MW Scythe Damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

Round 1

Entranced by her lights, Betony does not notice anything till the screaming starts. "Behind us, Boy!"

She wheels around on Thistledown and charges up the road (to -A13). She lowers Nettle against one Orc and lets him have it.

Charge Lance vs Orc at -C14 -> 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 2 = 16
Charge Lance Damage-> 2d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 + 3 = 11

Status: Betony: 12/12 HP; 16/18 AC Charging; Thistledown: 13/13 HP, 15/17 AC; Charging

Half Elf Illusionist 2

Silar can barely scream Not again before the arrows drop him to the ground.
I am at -4. Rolling to Stabilize for the next turn:1d20 - 4 ⇒ (15) - 4 = 11

Sczarni

Rianna draws the wand while standing up and takes a move to behind Skane.

move to D9 and fall unconscious.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Round 1

Dieredon double moves through difficult terrain to D4 while drawing his Elven Curveblade!

Surprise Round
Skane's moves in to engage the orcs just as the javelins arc over his head to embed themselves in the torsos of his comrades. His axe swinging arch catches his target in the midriff, wounding it, despite the dim conditions. 1d5 ⇒ 5

Round 1
The scouts beyond the barricade move back to aid their engaged companions, only to find movement slow and restricive. Placing Dieredon in E4 and Rosslyn in I7 after counting movement costs.

Silar falls after being skewered by a couple of crude but effective javelins.

The Brambleknight wheels and prods her mount towards the rear, lance couched. The shaft pierces through as if a hot knife through butter, but miraculously the orc still stands, fury in its eyes.

Wesh expands positive energy in a healing burst around him before advancing to the front.

Rianna revived after Wesh's healing burst, stands and retreats to the rear before collapsing after the exertion, wand in hand. While I think it would be 3 moves actions, I would consider drawing the wand as a swift action for this instance.

Bjornhildr, heightened with animal senses comes at her foe from an unexpected direction, scythe hacking without mercy. Grievously wounded, the orc refuses to fall before exacting his retribution.

==Minions==
The wounded orcs bellow cries of fury before each lunges at their attacker, determined to bring them down to the floor.
Trip attack Orc -C14 vs Skane: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Provokes AoO
Trip attack Orc -B15 vs Bjornhildr: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Provokes AoO
Both of them collapse after the attempt, not seeing the fruit of their actions.

Wesh gets scrummed by a trio of orcs, each hefting a heavy waraxe, drawn during the closing. (-E12->-D11 || -E14->-D12 || -D13->stays)
Orc -D11 attack Wesh: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Orc -D12 attack Wesh: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Orc -D13 attack Wesh: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
As heavy as the blows come, Wesh evades and ducks, not even coming close.

An orc closes in with Skane, charging from the rear. (-D15->-B14)
Orc -B14 attack Skane: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10
Skane keeps the attacks at bay, deflecting them off with his shield.

The Pot Leader looks enraged after watching his warriors fall meekly, moving with his falchion aloft to lop an appendage off the She-Bear. (-E15->-C15)
Pot Leader -C15 power attack Bjornhildr: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 - 1 = 20
Pot Leader Damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (3, 3) + 10 = 16
Sprayed blood from the She-Bear's flank scatters on the forest floor as the Orc Leader maneuvers for another strike.

Skane to go, then round 2.

MAP

Female Pure Strain Human Enforcer 1

Rosslyn shifts her position slightly to find an opening from the underbrush, braces herself against the barricade, and lets an arow fly at an orc.

Move to H7, fire at -D11. Not sure what the full penalty will be; I normally have a +5, and i'm assuming a -4.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

Wesh takes a five foot step to -c11 and then swings with his newly aquired morning star at the orc in -c12

attack roll
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
damage
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

Orc B-14 draws an AoO from Betony with reach weapon, unless he has sonething that denies this.

Round 1 AoO
Lance vs Orc at -B14 -> 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Lance Damage-> 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Skane resists the orcs crude trip and replies with a swipe;

MW Battle Axe AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Battle Axe Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

As he dispatches one foe, the next launches a furious assault against the Northman. Wearing a grim smile, Skane calmly turns aside the orcs blows with his trusty shield, then replies with a brutal backswipe with his axe:

Attack on -B14 orc:

MW Battle Axe Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Battle Axe Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

DMRandall:

Skane is adjacent to Wesh and the BrambleKnight - so can help either out with his shield (+2 AC) as an immediate action.

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

Skane I steped away as you would only get one shield attack and they would get two attacks at +2 from flanking which is less than the shield.And you can still use it on betony.

Skane:
I'd apply your shield saving feat when it would be most advantageous to anyone adjacent to you.

Effortlessly Skane brings down adjacent orc with a swing and follow through.

Round 2. Three orcs down and 4 more to go. Stabilizing rolls and actions please for init 20-->07.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Round 2

Dieredon moves to A10 and brandishes his Elven Curveblade readying himself to attack.

Round 2

AC: 15 HP: 9/25 CONDITIONS: Totem Transformed (Scent & Low Light Vision)

Enraged, the She-Bear brings her long claw to bear, aiming a brutal swing at the leading orc;

MW Scythe Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Scythe Damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14

DMRandall:

Gotcha :)

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

"We got to help Wesh, Thist!"

Showing off their agility, the Brambleknight wheels around Skane and bears down on another Orc. Charge 10' to -B11 and a lance -D11

Charge Lance vs Orc at -D11 -> 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14
Charge Lance Damage-> 2d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (6, 6) + 3 + 3 = 18

Status: Betony: 12/12 HP; 16/18 AC Charging; Thistledown: 13/13 HP, 15/17 AC; Charging

Sczarni

Stabilized, and down.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

I am a bit confused on initiative. Who is up?

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

Betony earlier attack was an AOO but I don't think the orc in d13 provoked it used a charge attack. so Betony had not acted yet. Everyone is ingonring I am taking a five foot step.

It's round 2, and init count 20 to 07 is up, meaning Rianna, Rosslyn, Silar, Dieredon, Betony, Wesh, Bjornhildr. Betony got an AoO from the tripping orc, based on her reach weapon. Anyway everyone's involved already posted and action so I'll update soon.

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

My earlier AoO was against the orc Skane ended up killing. My post above was for this round, but I had overlooked your 5 foot step Wesh, sorry. The Round 2 attack would then not involve a charge (no eligible space for it), but instead a 5' step to -B12 and and attack against -D12 at -2 to the above roll for no charge, so a 12 to hit...Boo. Not that the 14 would have hit.

Sczarni

I'm down, so unless I get some healing, I'm out. But as soon as I get some healing, I'll either go into healing mode with the wand or daze on the enemies.

Init:
20 Rianna
17 Rosslyn
13 Silar
12 Dieredon
11 Betony
08 Wesh
07 Bjornhildr
07 DM's Minions
03 Skane

previous round
The crude trip attempt is obliterated by the combined blows of the Brambleknight and Northman before ot became a worry.

Round 2
Rianna and Silar remains prone, out of the fight.

Rosslyn looses an arrow but it misses the mark as she avoids to hit her allies.

Fighting through the undergrowth, Dieredon makes progress and readies to close in. Adjusted to B8 accounting movement costs.

Betony wheels with Thistledown before springing to plunge her lance through and through orcish flesh. It stands gasping but intent to leave a mark before dying.

Wesh buries his new morning star through some orc cranium, jarring the beastial humanoid.

The She-Bear gives a good as she receives as she strikes a telling blow on the Pot Leader.

-ORCs-
-D11,stays
The gasping, dying orc collects the last vestiges of strength before unleashing it at Wesh. The unfocused attack fails to connect and it falls dying.
power attack Wesh: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 1 = 14

-D12,stays
The wounded orc, seeks to repay Wesh of his courtesy as it drives his greataxe with all of his might.
power attack Wesh: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 1 = 21
power damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

-D13->-C16
Hoping to impress its leader, the orc charges in to engage the She-Bear. The clumsy attack fall short and does little harm.
charge attack Bjorn: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8

-C15,stays
The Pot Leader looks to set an example as he swings at the She-Bear. He savagely wounds her and the Pot Leader smirks to find another.
power attack Bjornhildr: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 1 = 19
power damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 1) + 10 = 13

Skane is up, then it's round 3

Latest MAP

Round 2

AC: 19 HP: 20/20 CONDITIONS: - Seeing his fellow North(wo)man fall under the orc leader's cleaver, Skane rushes in seeking red vengence; 5ft step to -C 14 (presume I can stand on the orc corpse?) and attack leader in -C 15.

MW Battle Axe Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Battle Axe Damage:1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

Dang I got dropped again. I really wish I got that night of sleep now. Then I would have more hit point and up to 11 more I may drop a rank of improving heal skill to get one more hit point and still learn skald.

stabilize

1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 2 = 20

I don't think the orc would mind Skane :), no problem. Looks like a familiar situation..

Skane tears a chunk off the orc's hide. Still in a rage, the orc leader greets this new attacker with a snarl.

Round 3
Give actions for all except for Skane.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Round 3, Power Attack

Dieredon moves to -C12 next to Wesh and attacks the orc, staying adjacent to Skane.

Here I come Wesh!

Curvblade ATT: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Curveblade DAM: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 3 = 14

@Dieredon: I'm in -C14 so you'd need to move to -C13 to gain the benefit of my shield... (that would still enable you to attack Wesh's orc?)

Female Pure Strain Human Enforcer 1

Rosslyn leaps around the legs of the barricade to F7 and lets a straight shot off at the leader!

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Skane - that works - thanks! Randall - please place me at C13, thanks.

Okay. Waiting for Betony to post in.

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

As Wesh goes down, Betony thrusts Nettle at his opponent.

Lance attack -> 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

but has little effect.

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

Looks like lots of missing this round not good
