Still here and still loving it... hoping this game won't end until its natural conclusion:S

Think we maybe had a few slow days - given Randall's new fatherhood that might make some periods a little slower... picking up now tho?

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

Not complaining at all...still lovin' the game!

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

Betony has no concept of betting for money, but she did see Skane still standing while surrounded by axemen. She would 'bet' on him

Wise little fey... Skane might be dinged up but I'm still hoping it'll be down to me an Bjorn... then I'd bet on me too ;)

I gotta admit, Bjorn is getting impatient with this so called drinking game. He is frustrated that he isn't getting to drink and will likely start double fisting the grog. Of course, when he starts doing 1d6 + 8 damage, it's going to get ugly when he hits. That's if he doesn't just get up and start beating people with his bloody stool.

EDIT: hehehe I said bloody stool

Bizarre was thinking the same thing that Norse bravado would probably dictate we drink doubles anyway?

How about we start downing some double shots regardless? Then when its last viking standing anything goes lol ;)

Blood Stool?

Rectum?

Aye I damn near killed the basterds...

Something else to mull over folks (well those that are interested) - here's the preamble of my pbp coming when it gets colder...

Just check out my DM O' The North profile...;)

Apologies for the threadjack Randall

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

Black Dow:
Hey BD, Put me down as interested. For your FYI, Mark Sweetman (Dibbets) has a Osirion recruitment going on.

Male Elf Rogue Swashbuckler/4; HP: 27/27; AC:20; T: 16; FF: 15; F: 1/R: 8/W: 1; CMD: 20; Init: 6; Perc: 7; Sense Motive: 0

Nice...I can't friggin' wait!

Beta Male Hairy Highlander Halfbreed Barbarian 9/King O' The North 5

Yeah am looking forward to it too - bit daunting but its nicely coming together... Randall and Cap'n Voodoo have raised the DM bar nice and high for me lol.

Will keep revisiting as it gets closer :)

Bethony:

Interest noted Meowzebub... if your character ends up being anything close to the Groom and the BrambleKnight my game will be all the better for it :)

Thanks for the heads up on Mark's pbp... will give it aa look, but my dancecard's pretty full at the moment with RL... :(

@Bjorn: Always good to see another putting on the DM mantle. And thanks for the kind words.

No worries Randall - credit where credits due :)

However while you're in a benign mood lol:

DM:

Know we touched on this before but the new Humans of Golarian supplement has the perfect trait for Skane:

Shield Bearer (Ulfen): You have survived many battles thanks to your skill with your shield. When performing a shield bash, you deal 1 additional point of damage. Also, once per day on your turn as a free action, you may provide one adjacent ally a +2 trait bonus to his Armor Class. This bonus lasts for 1 round, so long as you and the target remain adjacent to one another. You can only use this ability if you are using a shield. You retain your shield bonus to your armor class when using this ability.

Pretty cool heh? And we're still 1st level so hopefully won't be too imbalancing if I can swap it in or out? Last time [promise!]

Rianna & DM Randall:

On the same note as above there's another trait in Humans of Golarian Players Companion that sortof fits Rianna very well and solves a few queries regarding her doing readings but still pursuing a Harrow Deck:

Harrow Born (Varisian): You grew up around the mysterious fortune-tellers known throughout Ustalav and Varisia. You start play with a harrow deck passed down from a relative. Because of your skill with fortune-telling, you gain a +1 trait bonus on initiative checks.

Know the rationale here is for the initiative to refect the "foresight" but could easily apply to a ton of skills etc if your not keen of Initiative bonus traits Randall.

Sczarni

Skane & DM:
I like it, but I like the one trait I have. I know I haven't used it yet, but I'm afraid to use it at the moment in a lawful setting where I could get busted for swapping silver for gold.

If I could change anything, it would be to get rid of Lingering Performance and pick up a different feat. And to get rid of Beguiling Gift and get a different spell. There's some new ones in Ultimate Magic that would be nice.

Brings up an interesting discussion for us all I guess - is there room/opportunity/validity in retconning our characters [feats/traits/spells etc] before or during the jump for 1-2nd level.

I'm not one for constant tinkering, but likewise if canon books/materials come available is it worth considering as a one off?

Any changes probably could be applied on the next level up, that way I'd have time to digest the new paizo books as they become available.

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

For the record, I am not looking to make any changes unless someone comes across something helpful...I just wanna level! :-)

DM randall793 wrote:

Cool Randall - apart from the aforementioned trait I'm not for making any changes.

We're on the quick XP progression right? So we'll level up @ 1,300 XP... getting closer.

Am concious that the shopping roleplay might be holding up the game moving forward - apologies if this is the case gang - I'm a sucker for mundane roleplay lol.

Thoughts are that we shop for anything and everything we need - note down what's been bought etc for Randall [should it be relevant], have the party grab some food on the move from vendors/stalls [am not 100% sold on this free food from the Cult... still feel their "wrong uns" in a Wickerman kinda way...]

Then have us rock up to our 10pm rendevous [and hopefully our next job]?

Thoughts??

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

I hear ya...sounds like a plan...

Regarding the meeting - both notes stressed discreet. this should probably be explained to the Northmen, and given we've already brought some attention to ourselves, should we be cloaked/disguised/something???

Thoughts on meeting: One note was in a handwritten scrawl while the other elegant writing... anything in that?

Weird! Bjorn is actually going to dip a level into "Paragon of Discretion" at 2nd level.

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

@Countless: Yep, I am trying to address that in the thread just prior to arrival at the temple.

Guys just to let you know I'm away to Manchester for a gig this weekend, so will be busy until late Monday.

Between Saturday and then posting might be patchy (depending on schedule and hotel interwebs const), so move the game along if necessary.

Sczarni

Alright, two things. Do you suppose I need a Diplomacy/Bluff check? Second, how far should I take this?

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

I would definitely use Diplomacy, and you should take it as far as to get us as much gold as possible for the job. Doing great...keep it going!

I agree on diplomacy.

I also agree on the Diplomacy - great opportunity for Rianna to shine [even more] if Bjorn can keep his ardour under control lol. Use Bluff if necessary to big us up - risky but Rianna's pretty [ahem] persuasive.

Think we should press them for as much as we can - I'm guessing that we punched above our weight with Kurt's crew & thus they probably think us a little tastier than we actually are... However the better they think we are the more leverage we have, and the more coin/rewards we can net.

Something up front would be good [Bjorn keep yer comments clean lol]

Skäne “Countless” Ingvârssonn wrote:

No can do. We all know Bjorn likes to do all his up front work covered in blood!

Sczarni

Just a heads up. I will be starting a new job in a week, July 5th. The new job does not allow personal internet use. So my posting habits will be changing.

I will continue playing, just changing how often and when my postings will be. (Before and after work, instead of during)

No worries man - forget how lucky I am sometimes being able to post at work [well until new term starts and I'm out the door with students lol!]

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

That reward is looking good.

Is indeed - pretty tasty amount, given we might land some other rewards off of the bandits themselves... and should this Lucien fall then it'll be doubled... so fall he will.

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

Hells Yeah! I am in - like the reward!

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

Shiny!

Sczarni

Okay, so I've posted my response. Hopefully it goes over well.

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

Well done! Ambitious, but we are negotiating, after all. Maybe they will split the baby at 400?

Worth a punt. Rianna was pretty convincing and suitably seductive lol, we might sneak the increase - if not we can barter an increase of some kind...

Sczarni

Looks like we got ourselves a deal. We'll have to talk out the details of how we plan to handle this later. If you haven't posted since the reply from the masked men, please do so. I will wait until everyone has had a chance then accept the offer for the group.

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

Just as I thought - they split the baby at 400! Great job Rianna...let's roll with that deal! BTW, I am a RL contract negotiator. It was good to see someone else carry the burden...lol!

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

Betony would be happy if they paid her with a slice of pie, so don't hold out too much on her opinion. She may want to hold up the negotiations to get that pie. :P

2 people marked this as a favorite.

lol - we should hit em with Armageddon style demands... I have WAY too much time on my hands... ;)

Rianna: They'll do it. They've made a few requests though.
Raven Mask: Such as?
Rianna: (ruffles through sheets of parchment) Well, there's uh, few things here, uh... nothin' really big, uh, just- Well, as an example, uh, uh, Skane here, he's got some outstanding bounties on his head. Wants them wiped off his record.
Skane: (shouting from back of room) Fifty-six blood feuds in seven nations...
Rianna: (to Skane)] I'll-I'll tell 'em Skane, you got it.
Skane: Já.
Rianna: Uh, Wesh's got two female Tian friends that he'd like to see made Deeptown citizens no questions asked. Bethony would like you to bring back... THAC0. Not sure if that's gonna work, but, uh, let's see what else. Um, Dieredon wants a full week's Erastil Package at Black Stag. Um - hey, you guys wouldn't be able to tell us who actually killed Aroden, would ya? (pause, turns and shakes her head)
Rianna: Um, Bjorn would like to stay at...
(tries to read writing)
Rianna: "White thrown"?
(looks quizzicly up at Bjorn)
Bjorn: White. Throne. Whitethrone!
Rianna: White Thone. Yeah, he'd like to stay in Baba Yaga's bedroom of the Whitethrone for the summer. Stuff like that.
Rhino Mask: Sure, I think we can, uh, take care of... some of that.
Thistledown: (howls from the background) RrrrriaaannnnAHHHH!
Rianna: (motions back at Thistledown) Yeah one more thing, um... none of them wanna fail a saving throw.
(pauses)
Rianna: Ever.

Sczarni

Skane, that was hilarious. Had me laughing out loud at the office.

Thanks man. Like I said WAY too much time on my hands lol.

Male Elf Slayer /2/AC:17, T: 14, FF:13/HP:22/22/F:3, R:7, W:1/Init:+6/Perc:+8

Friggin' Outstanding Countless! ROFLMAO!

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

Congrats! Today the Internet belongs to you.

Well played, sir!

Man, that was good!

Female Gnome Cavalier 2; Knight of the Shield

DM Randell:
OK, as part of this build, I invested a lot of Betony's back story into finding the BrambleKnight armor and weapons. Would it be possible to construct a sort of a built in leveling up mechanic to the weapons and armor. She has no sense of money, and would not think to buy better weapons, but what if her existing weapons could be upgraded, if she 'lost' an appropriate amount to purchase the upgraded weapon.

like, currently she has normal weapon and armor, so would lose an appropriate amount to purchase a masterwork version. Later loses enough to purchase a +1 enhancement. And then later the difference between +2 and +1 to add the next enhancement.

THis will all be fluff, with her keeping her original weapons and armor, but as if purchasing upgraded versions.

As to where the money is going? Perhaps fey steal it and periodically improve her equipment in the night (sort of like the cobbler and the elves fairy tale), or a nature spirit gives her blessings as the coins are absorbed into the earth as she loses them, she gives it away to the needy and charities and receives blessings in return, or she just loses it over time.

Just some ideas; let me know what you think.

Betony:
I get the gist of it. Your arms meaning the axe and lance as well as the banded mail? I could think of the old dead gnome where you got the armor and weapons off come and bless/infuse/etch the armor after a special occasion. He'd be some sort of ghostly armorer/blacksmith.
Or the items are already special, just dormant and needs somebody to reawaken/activate as well as identify the uniqueness of it. It could be a decedent of the dead gnome. We'll work it out, I'm thinking you'd want a MW upgrade first.
