Is there more than 1 way down to the next deck

Barring an entrance from outside the ship, there is only one way down.

(don't blame me. I wouldn't design a ship that way...)

Scarab Sages

Male Hellspawn Tiefling/HP 91/AC 21/FF 17/T 14/Fort +13/Ref +11/Wil +3/Init +2/ Aerokinticist 8/Cmb +8/Cmd 19/

Lets proceed to the next deck. Light stone first, the sack, then 5 second delay then Maldrek

Map up soon...

When the stone with the light is dropped, there is a faint, somewhat distant "huh?", but nothing follows. When the sack is dropped, a man's voice, hoarse, high-pitched, and desperate, screams out "Gods above, HELP US! Have a care, they're.." This is followed by a distinct THUD, and the voice goes silent.

A deep, growling voice gates "We know you're up there. Come down, now, or we start killing them. Nice and slow, one at a time."

Maldrek, still going down?

(Maldrek is on the square where the hatch is on the map...)

Grand Lodge

Male Nagaji Monk 1 / Sorcerer 0

Okotta, standing next to Maldrek smiles in a way only a half lizard can, and in heavily accinted common states "Soft one, perhaps I should go and greet our friends? I imagine that the Gods will smile on me, and they will ask that we drop our weapons. I would like to be close to them at that time, if I may ask this humble favor of you?"

You may go first and I will be right behind you

Grand Lodge

I will come down from above and get as close to the hatch as I can.

Grand Lodge

Male Nagaji Monk 1 / Sorcerer 0

Okotta descends, sword evident, and will tell folks above what he sees.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

The Exchange

Male Half-Orc Bard 1

Shizzle P nods and follows the group his eyes scanning the hold darting from side to side as he descends the ladder. Smiling brightly, he fluffs his mohawk and steps to the front of the group next to Okatta, but carefully positioning himself such that the Nagaji will have enough room to strike unhindered when necessary. He adds some swagger to his step trying to command as much attention from the captors as possible.

Thinking on the fly he addresses the captors, "Sup fools, why you hidin' in the bottom of the ship here, we're lookin to make a deal. Tarik the Unclean mentioned that you may be willing to do a little business." He points towards Okotta "How much for the snake man?"

Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

As he speaks he makes a point to continually shift with the gentle rocking of the ship, talking with his hands to further the distraction factor.

The lower hold, which one could expect to be full of trade goods or supplies, is largely empty. A few pathetic figures in tattered, filthy finery, kneel in chains along the starboard hull. Beside the nearest, a menacing dagger in its hand, stands a broad-shouldered, bare-chested half-orc, his huge-knuckled hand tangled in the hair of the first captive.

As Okotta glances around and Shizzle P descends behind him, they note a second half-orc, unarmed, leaning slightly forward on the balls of his bare feet, waiting impassively.

GM paperwork. Guarded by explosive runes:

sense motive1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
sense motive2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
know/loc1: 1d20 ⇒ 5
know/loc2: 1d20 ⇒ 6

The halforcs glance at each other, a slightly puzzled expression on their tusked faces, before the one abaft the party speaks.

"We did not know that Tarik the Unclean was aware of our venture, nor that he was interested in it. But you waste your time. We do not BUY our slaves. Nor do we care - they are just gold for the Cause."

The orc for'ad of the party chimes in. "And now, if you do not wish to join them in slavery, it is time for you to depart. NOW."

map has been updated.

The party upstairs hears enough of the conversation and Okotta's whispered description to know the situation.

Folks may move down the ladder at a 15' movement cost, move down for 10' with a DC 10 climb check, or freefall to the lower deck for a 5' cost with a DC 10 Acrobatics check, taking 1d6 nonlethal and falling prone if failed.

There is no clear line of sight until you are on the lower deck.

I'm going to go ahead and shift to initiative order, but none of the NPC's have made a hostile move yet.

There's not going to be a surprise round, here.

Grand Lodge

Male Nagaji Monk 1 / Sorcerer 0

Okotta is torn! While he understands that his mission is to keep soft ones alive if possible, he recognizes the stance of a worthy opponent... the fleeting promise of a challenging battle tempts him sorely, but he then remembers why he was sent to this strange, inhospitable place, and decides to engage the knife wielding foe. Their lack of aggressive actions he views as weakness, and one that he can exploit.

His intention will be to engage the foe in such a way to prevent harm to the slave, and pray to his gods that the opponent behind him will best his party, leaving him a fight worthy of note, preferably dropping the impudent bard in the process.

Of course, none of this is voiced, and the only thing Shizzle would note is a slight bow of Okotta's head towards .5orc #1 and his race to #2 as he engages.

Move 15'

Cold Iron Temple Sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

bugger...

The halforc's eyes narrow as the reptilian monk rushes at him, recognizing the temple sword. A small, grim smile touches hsi tusked mouth as he welcomes the challange of a fellow monk. His threat to the captives seems forgotten as he drops hsi knife, getting into guard just soon enough to smack the flat of the temple sword aside with his open palm.

yeah, thats a miss...

Grimruhn is up. Is Tim back in-state?

GM RETRACTION!

Actually, the Half-orcs are still flat-footed, so Okotta's swing draws blood!

GM paperwork:

Monk 2 (3 of 9)

GMBOT ENGAGED

The fleet-footed barbarian Grimruhn rushes past his comrades, negotiates the steep ladder, and makes his way to the far side of the unengaged halforc, bringing down his earthbreaker...

attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 2) + 7 = 14

...on the suprised opponent's head. The halforc tumbles unceremoniously to the deck, unmoving.

Ishwar is up.

Grand Lodge

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (level 1)

Moving down the ladder quickly but carefully (I ain't risking a roll here) I will go to strike the still standing half-orc:

Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 51d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Whiffed.

The remaining half-orc spins on his heel, throwing a vicious kick at Okotta:

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

which whirls past the reptile's head as he ducks.

Halforc badguy (That's pronounced "Bahd-GEE") 1 bleeds a little more..

Shizzle P, all you, foo'!

Grand Lodge

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (level 1)

I hope everyone is singing "Kung Fu Fighting" for this battle. Also Okotta if you want to delay next turn until after me I'll give you Guidance, or somebody, because I'm probably not going to hit this guy now that he isn't flat footed.

The Exchange

Male Half-Orc Bard 1

Shizzle P starts to rap a bardsong "Come on playa, why ya got ta be a nay sayah, where's the lovin for a brotha of a greener motha. Green on green just a bit obscene, but that's ok, bring it on gangsta cause we gonna say, at the end of the day, I said come on you fools time to stomp these tools."

Miles is up!

GMBOT Engaged!

Miles scurries down the ladder, and races to the standing half-orc, sword swinging.

longsword attack+ bardbuff: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 13

The beleaguered enemy manages to dodge the stroke.

Maldrek is up!

Scarab Sages

Male Hellspawn Tiefling/HP 91/AC 21/FF 17/T 14/Fort +13/Ref +11/Wil +3/Init +2/ Aerokinticist 8/Cmb +8/Cmd 19/

I will go down and attempt to blast him

ranged touch air blast: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Maldrek's vicious blast sends the halforc hurtling to the deck, unmoving.

Both are still alive, if anyone is interested in making sure they stay that way.

(Wrap up post tonight!)

A search of the halforcs turns up the Pathfinder Cestis's wayfinder and four potions of cure light wounds. The slaves confirm that Cestis was never brought here - one of the halforcs had taken it from the Pathfinder when they were first captured.

They think that the halforc monks and the rest of their captors are part of some strange cult.

No sign of where they might have taken Cestis can be found.

What would you like to do?

Grand Lodge

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (level 1)

I can heal the slavers if we wish to question them, but we should bind them first.

Grand Lodge

Male Nagaji Monk 1 / Sorcerer 0

Okotta uses some of the ships rope to hog-tie the monks, knowing that both feet and hands can be used as weaponry, and will position himself behind them to provide a guard if/when we question them.

The Exchange

Male Half-Orc Bard 1

Shizzle P looks at the secured half-orcs and looks around at the party. "Fools got some 'splaining to do, y'all ready to wake these tools and see what they know?"

He waits for general acceptance of the party before making any moves.

/OOC Basically, I'm going to wake them up here in a minute if no one has any exceptions, this would be the table talk portion of a real game.

The halforcs are easily bound, and, after a bit of bandaging, they are brought around, grumbling and groggy.

A few questions reveal nothing useful in their sullen answers. But as they party pokes and prods, a loud voice from above, muffled by the intervening decks, shouts "Orcs! Why in the Nine Hells is no-one on deck!"

The Exchange

Male Half-Orc Bard 1

Shizzle P baps both orcs with his quarterstaff quickly before they can answer, knocking them out. He switches outfits with one of the bound orcs. The half-orc shouts, imitating the voice of the bound orc, "We were attacked, we killed them all but the wizard hit the hull. We're taking on water."

Quickly he and Ishwar drag the bound orcs from the view of the hatch hiding them from view.

bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

/OOC I did confirm this plan with Jonathan (Ishwar) in an effort to not metagame.

Grand Lodge

Male Nagaji Monk 1 / Sorcerer 0

Okotta shrugs inwardly at the continued chaos. He prepares his sword and slides into the shadows, preparing to ambush whoever comes down.

Grand Lodge

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (level 1)

As I struggle to drag one of the half-orcs out of sight I can't help but wonder how healthy being repeatedly knocked out and woken up again is for our prisoners. But since they are slavers it is difficult to feel any sympathy. I will join Okotta in hiding once I've finished.

Any that wish to hide in the main hold, please make a stealth check. Those wishing to stay out of sight without making stealth checks can hide in the fore or aft cabins.

Gm paperwork:

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Grand Lodge

Male Nagaji Monk 1 / Sorcerer 0

Given that Okotta's stealth isn't all that good, he will instead go to the back cabin and assist in dragging the one prisoner in with him. He will prepare to run out and engage, once the oddly accented bard gets himself into trouble.

Grand Lodge

Male Vudrani Human Cleric (level 1)

I will grab the other and follow.

The Exchange

Male Half-Orc Bard 1

Shizzle P makes an effort to be viewed from the upper hatch a hat covering his distinctive pink mohawk. He waits for a moment, making sure he is seen before for running back out of sight towards the aft cabins, simulating panic. "Down here" he shouts, "This way, Help us."

There are muffled sounds of movement, as people move from the upper deck to the gun deck - the one above you.

After a minute or two, Shizzle sees a woman's face peering down the hatch. There are a few moments of tense silence.

"I cannot help but notice that there is no water on the deck. What in the Blasted Swamps of Abaddon is going on down there, you HALFWITS!"

She begins speaking in a slow, deliberate, menacing tone, but is screaming by the end.

before we go any further - Miles, Grimruhn, Maldrek - staying in plain sight, hiding in a cabin, or making a stealth check to hide in teh main hold?

I'll update the map late tonight

The Exchange

Male Half-Orc Bard 1

posting now in case things progress this evening while I'm afk. Please assume my post comes after everyone else checks in.

Shizzle runs briefly back into view of the woman towards the front of the again out of her view. He grabs a random tarp and runs back towards the back of the ship. "It's back here, we managed to stem most of the flow of the water" he shouts.

How would you like to proceed?

Scarab Sages

Male Hellspawn Tiefling/HP 91/AC 21/FF 17/T 14/Fort +13/Ref +11/Wil +3/Init +2/ Aerokinticist 8/Cmb +8/Cmd 19/

I will stay put and blast the first one down.

Okotta and Ishwar are in the aft cabin, Maldrek is among the captives, (Though he is staying put if anyone moves them). I'm going to assume Grimruhn and Miles are in the aft cabin as well. Shizzle P is just out of sight of the shouting woman, who is not alone on the ballista deck.

Anyone else acting?

It becomes evident that the woman, despite her dire threats and curses, is not coming down until the captives have been moved out of the main hold.

The Exchange

Male Half-Orc Bard 1

"You there," Shizzle P shouts at the unconscious orc in the aft cabin, "keep that plugged while I move the captives." He grabs a waterskin drenches the front of his outfit before he storms out towards the captives, "Come on you lot," he menaces the group, pointing towards the front of the ship, move it or I'll give you something to snivel about."

Shizzle P herds the captives out of sight.

"Its about @#$% time!" the woman shouts. "Alright, I'm sending down my helper!"

A minute later, a pair of dirty, scabby, barefoot legs begin to descend the ladder.

COMBAT!

I'll post initiatives, surprise round stuff, and update the map here shortly.

Maldrek and Shizzle, can clearly see the descending creature, so give me knwledge/religion rolls. Sorry, guys in the cabin, the view is obscured by the ladder.

Maldrek, then Shizzle can act in the surprise round.

After that, here is the order:

Maldrek
Shizzle P

Loud Angry Captain

Maldrek, I believe that you were all set to go a-blastin'.

The creature is buffeted into the stairs/ladder by the force of the blow. It seems to have been hurt, but not as much as you would have thought.
