Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

Caan shrugs. "That was weird. Very unexpected!" The cleric trudges over to Autumn, holding a hand up to her head and his chest.

"Mmm. Snow problems. Would you like to ride the packhorse for a while?"

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

The spell only lasts a few minutes before Autumn is back to her normal size. You get back on the trail. A human-sized snowman stands in the middle of the trail before a frozen stream . A crude wooden sign leans against it and bears the words "Trespassers Turn Back."

Retired to Taldor?

Seamus leading the horse, loaded crossbow in hand looks over Caan's shoulders death and destruction, zombies, trapped treasure chests, hanging fetishes, fairies, a talking moose thing, now a snowman, first normal thing we've found for winter, why does it not strike me as normal and asks as they approach it,"Are there any moose tracks around it?" Looking very carefully, trying to see if there is anything out of the ordinary.

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Retired to Taldor?

identifying what type of track is a survival skill, so here goes survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Tracks are humanoid. No elk:)

Male Human Magus (Bladebound Eldritch Scion of Destiny) 2; HP 20/20, Init +0, AC 15/FF 15/T 10; F5+4, R +0, W +3; Per +4; CMB +4 CMD 13

"Moose?" says Sparhawk, helping Seamus look around. "Be cautious. It would be hard to spot a trap in the snow drifts."

Perception, aid: 1d20 ⇒ 10 +2 for Seamus

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

Caan casts detect magic on the snowman, moving closer to get in range for the spell.

"A Snowman!" Announces Caan.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

How close are you getting Caan?

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

60ft?

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

You are around 30' now. Yes, you detect magic off the snowman.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

Paletress calms down once the spell wears off and sheepishly looks around. Without another word she sets off.

For some reason, Paletress is utterly fascinated by the snowman they later encounter, reaching out to touch it almost on instinct.

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

If she is getting that close as soon as she gets within 15' it begins to speak "Can't you read? The sign says turn back! Now get lost!"

casters can make a spellcraft check.

Male Human Magus (Bladebound Eldritch Scion of Destiny) 2; HP 20/20, Init +0, AC 15/FF 15/T 10; F5+4, R +0, W +3; Per +4; CMB +4 CMD 13

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

All my skill rolls over 15, over in combat Nd roll 4s... Lol

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

It is a magic mouth spell Sparhawk.

Retired to Taldor?

joining the party at fifteen foot Seamus looks around again, and asks the obvious "Did that snowman just talk?"

perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

In one smooth terrified motion Paletress brings out her falchion and slices the snowman's head clean off with a bloodcurdling shriek.

She stands there, huffing gouts of foggy breath, when she hears Seamus' question.

"I didn't hear nothing!"

Male Human Magus (Bladebound Eldritch Scion of Destiny) 2; HP 20/20, Init +0, AC 15/FF 15/T 10; F5+4, R +0, W +3; Per +4; CMB +4 CMD 13

"Actually it spoke, but it was a simple spell that delivers a message upon a certain condition, like getting close to it."

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

Caan applauds, grinning toothily as he approaches the dead snowman. "A mortal wound! Bravo!"

The large half-orc pokes through the frosty remains with his axe hilt, checking to make sure it's dead (and for items).

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Yeesh.

Retired to Taldor?

as Seamus follows Caan toward the decapitation scene, glad to here it was just a spell of some sort, he looks around carefully, not liking the prospect of crossing a frozen stream.

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 it must be contagious, Yeesh is right!

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

As Caan and Seamus approach it for Caan to decapitate the snowman it screams loudly, both take sonic damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5 DC 18 Fort to avoid being stunned.

I think Paletress decapitated it, then Caan walked up and Seamus followed

as Seamus walks up to the decapitated snowman, he drops the lead rope, slapping his hands over his ears trying to protect them from the loud scream.

fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 stunned!

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Good call. Paletress then takes the damage and needs to make the fort save then. The AoE is 10'

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

fortitude save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Paletress reels from the horrendous pulse of sound. So... no decapitation yet?

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Not yet, you are stunned for one round. Just as that happens two ice elementals burst out from the ice and move towards you. Roll init.

init elementals: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

Caan looks up, confused by the noise.

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Retired to Taldor?

not again! seeing Paletress stunned and then two creatures popping out of the ice Seamus starts to bring his crossbow to bare. "Watch out! It looks like more unfriendly's"

init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Paletress now severely dislikes snowmen... am I unstunned on my turn, or is this all part of the surprise round?

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

If you are stunned, it will last until round two. A full round has not lapsed yet.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

So it doesn't wear off at the end of my turn?

Sparhawk, Seamus and Caan are up and then Paletress at the top of round two.

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

Can I convince Sparhawk/Seamus to delay until after my turn? They're both at full HP, so a channel wouldn't hurt us any.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

Whether Paletress is still up or not is dependent on whether she remains stunned after her initiative

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Your FF AC is 17 so even with -2 it won't hit on a 10 Paletress. The one on Caan crit.

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

Ahhhh... even though I read that I guess it didn't filter through that I was only swung at once.

Retired to Taldor?

Seamus drops the bay's lead-rope and pulls his crossbow up to fire, seeing Caan injured, Seamus calls out "Caan are you ok, Is it safe to fire?" Seamus holds his crossbow ready to fire waiting for Caan to step out of the way

delayed action, when Caan heals himself and moves Seamus will fire

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

On Paletress' next turn...

Paletress' regains her bearings with a horrendous shriek of laughter, turning to the creature that just attacked her, drawing her longsword and swinging.

Longsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

confirmation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Apparently, decapitation is happening

Male Half-Orc Cleric of Groetus (Lvl 1)

CRITICAL CRIT.

Male Human Magus (Bladebound Eldritch Scion of Destiny) 2; HP 20/20, Init +0, AC 15/FF 15/T 10; F5+4, R +0, W +3; Per +4; CMB +4 CMD 13

Sparhawk groans and moves towards the elemental on Caan, swinging his Glaive.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

The remaining elemental moves up 5' and attacks Sparhawk:
slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 cold damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

The elemental misses Sparhawk. Autumn, Sparhawk, Seamus and Caan are up then top of round 3.

Retired to Taldor?

Wow, Paletress, just put that thing on the ground, time for the rest of us to do our part. Impressed with his team members sword play Seamus reloads his crossbow, bringing it to bare on the creature he shot at already and firing again, steps back.

move action:loading, attack, 5ft. step

attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 for damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

Both are now dead. XP for elementals 160 each, Trap 160 each.

Retired to Taldor?

As Seamus begins to step back he notices the Elemental fall, well that's a relief He quickly looks around the surroundings for any other threats as he loads his crossbow and then asks the team "Do you think that was the fairy's also, or something else?" As he asks he inspects the remains of the snowman and then the 'frozen' creek.

perception: general look around for threats: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
perception: the snowman: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
perception: the ice: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16

Female Half-elf Urban Barbarian 1 / Mobile Fighter 2, HP 31/31

Paletress huffs and puffs and chortles for a few seconds after her sword slice soundly dispatched her foe. Turning around in time to witness the other elemental meet a similar fate, she makes a point to stomp on a few of the remaining ice chunks left by her destroyed enemy while checking the tracks to identify how fresh they might be, and what they were made by.

Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

"Heh heh... this one had an ingrown toenail..."

Male Human Rogue6/Clr1 Current Map

They are at least a day old.
