Let's do it this way, the highest Diplomacy roll will be the "lead" roll and the lesser rolls we'll apply to aid. So Round 1, Ranloi leads with his 16 and gets some aid, but not enough to hit the DC. Odo has made his Round 2 attempt, which will at least provide aid, need the rest of the round 2 rolls to determine the result. You will have one more round to try if Round 2 goes badly.

Boomropple puffs up at the Nagaji Druid. "Do you then deny that Pathfinders collect artifacts from all over, often stealing or even killing to acquire them? What have you come for this time?!"

To Odo, he says, "Aye, I've heard that name. Still, I find it hard to believe he would attack Hemzel outright... If this is not your doing, then tell me... Why did you come here to meet with Hemzel?" He asks with distrust still in his voice.

"Although I agree that Pathfinders collect artifacts from around the lands, we do not steal or kill to acquire these items. Do Pathfinders protect themselves from harm? Yes. Do we occasionally have to kill creatures who would kill us? Yes. But we are not thieves or bandits. We came to meet Hemzel about an artifact in his possession, so that we might study it and prevent it from being used to harm others. Again I ask, will you aid us in discovering why Hemzel was murdered?"

3rd attempt
Odo continues to try to mollify the gnome, perhaps a little more desperately considering how poorly the discussion is going. "What Selter says is true, good sir. Our instructions were to make peace with Hemzel, even do whatever it took to accomplish that and settle the differences between him and the Society so that we could study his latest discovery. We are here to help, not to steal or murder."
"As to the charge that Cyflymder is involved, we only have the word of Gire to go on. We do not know the truth of the matter. But we do have some evidence that strange deeds are afoot. If you wish to see the bodies of the raiders left behind, you can see they are strange. They may be some of the local lumbermen transformed by fey magic. Stay your anger for a while, at the least, so that we may prove our mettle and good intentions in solving this mystery."

3rd Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

That die-roller can be a fickle b!+^# sometimes! ^_~

Boomropple gives a begrudging grunt of understanding and waves a hand for you to step aside as approaches the hut to investigate. He leans through the doorway, peering into the ruined mess of his late friend's home. Pain registers on his face clearly as his eye falls on Hemzel's body.

He spends a few minutes investigating the bodies.
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

When he returns to speak with his companions, he is visibly deflated. They lower their weapons somewhat reluctantly as Boomroppel speaks."I'm not sure I want to, but I believe your story. It fits the evidence. I know Cyflymder has been rousing the fey, but I'd have never guessed he would go this far. So have you procured the Lorestone you seek? Or did the fey get here first and take it?"

You hit enough key points to warrant a roleplaying bonus which will nudge the round 3 attempt over the target DC. You have reduced the Gnomes from Hostile to Unfriendly, but that is not a particularly helpful frame of mind.

The way the die roller was going, I'm happy to take what we can get.

Odo breathes a sigh of relief as immediate tensions die down. "Unfortunately, the fey seem to have taken it first, and I think we will have to pursue them to get it back."

"You seem to know something of this Cyflymder person. What sort of creature is he? And why would he be rousing the fey in the first place?" Odo asks.

Boomropple's tone is still curt, but he seems resigned to giving what information he can. "Cyflymder is a Quickling, and a right nasty one at that. Seems to think the forest should only have fey residents, might mean to drive the rest of us away. The nearest Druid Circle is several miles in that direction. You lot had better hurry if you mean to reach the stones by sunrise."

Darren Survival: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Selter Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Moving in the direction the gnomes indicated, Darren and Selter are able to find signs of the Quickling's passage and you feel sure you are on the right track, though you are not so confident that you have the time you need. Though you have had no proper rest from your journey here, you must press on through the unfamiliar woods under the cover of darkness. Your eyes continually turn to the eastern horizon, judging your progress in this race against the sun. You need only travel mere miles compared to the bright orb's journey over the other half of the world, but as you detect the first pink tinges of light, you fear the quest is lost.

The thick trees, brush, and brambles of the Verduran Forest finally give way to a glassy lake with a small tree-studded island just thirty feet offshore. An improvised bridge of mossy logs stretches toward the island from the near shore, though some of the trunks have tipped nearly vertical into the water, leaving gaps along the makeshift bridge.

You will need Acrobatics to balance along the slippery logs and either a jump or a swim check to cross the gap and reach the next one. Horses or Ponies will likely need to be left behind on the shore.

Rhanloi speaks to his raven familiar in a strange tongue (unless you speak draconic!) and then lifts it into flight. The large black bird flaps off towards the island, circles it, then circles again, before returning and croaking back at the elf.

Since Odo is not much of a jumper, he gets ready to swim his way across to the island. The lake appears calm enough that it should not be too treacherous... as long as there's nothing living in it that would cause a problem.

Odo's armored swim check is -1 and, to cover 30 feet, I figure he needs to make 4 successful attempts at swimming. Still, it's better than his jump which suffers a -8 because he's got a low movement rate.

I'll give other players a chance to come up with a smarter scheme before I start rolling

Sithiss' response is lightning quick, catching the croc's foreleg in her jaws and coiling around it. She squeezes the breath from the beast until it is unconscious.

Combat Over!

As you collect yourselves from the watery battle and land upon the bank, suddenly, a high staccato voice cackles maniacally and calls out from the island.

“Too too late, filthy intruders! All your prancing through my beautiful forest, and nothing for you remains! The beautiful, beautiful sun will do my job for me, destroy your precious lorestone as soon as it rises, and you are failures, humans are always failures, always always. Look she comes now, your failure is at hand!” Your eyes turn to the horizon and you see the voice is right, the sky is ablaze with the aura of sunrise, painted in pink and orange... and there, the bright arc of sunlight has crested the horizon to shine upon all. But as the first rays strike the lorestone, you are swallowed by a field of darkness.

Spellcraft(DC 15):
The darkness surrounding the stones is different than any darkness spell you have seen before. It seems to emanate from the lorestone itself as if the artifact holding off the sun. It must be a protective measure put in place by it's creator, but you can tell that it won't last long. You estimate that the magic will give out in about 1 minute(10 rounds), unless you can get the lorestone away from Cyflymder and store it somewhere out of the sunlight.

Your fey foes are difficult to spot at first, but soon Darren and Reiko spot one Large creature lurking near the stone circle. (Blue) And Selter can see both that one and a second one hiding near the tree-line. (Green) Odo and Rhanloi cannot yet see any enemies.

Combat begins again! Reiko, the enemy you can see does not appear to have spotted you. Everyone is out of the water and Darren, Reiko, Selter, and Odo are up! Placed a marker for the lorestone and a voice bubble where you heard the voice speaking from atop the stone pillar.

I will wildshape and move for my turn but a couple of questions so I know what to change into.
1) The lorestone was atop the near pillar with the voice or is it at the center of the clearing?
1a) How high is the pillar with the lorestone?
2) How big is the lorestone?
3) Can Sithiss and I still see anything in the darkness with lowlight vision or is it more like deeper darkness? Answered. Ok we can see fine then.
4) Are the big figures armed?

Odo cannot help but reflect that one of his faith's enduring sayings, "The Dawn brings new Light," is surprisingly ironic in this situation.

Unable to see the hidden fey creatures, Odo must search them out. Heeding Selter's call that there's one leftward, Odo watches that direction and prepares for a fight. He draws forth a wand and casts bless weapon from it on his already enchanted cold iron scimitar.

Answers:

1) The voice called out from atop the long pillar nearest to the party. The lorestone is on the ground in front of the stone in the center of the circle.
2) We'll say the stone is about the size of a round loaf of bread. You could handle it with one hand if need be, but it is too large to be placed in a pocket.
4) Yes, they carry halberds and have shortswords sheathed at their belts.

These Large creatures are faster than they look. One Blue lashes out with it's halberd as Sithiss' coils pass within range, slicing into the massive snake. Sithiss takes 13 damage!
It's fellow Green moves toward Darren, also laying into him with the halberd. The polearm strikes the ranger with a hefty blow. Darren takes 17 damage!
The one that struck Sithiss now concentrates on her master, landing yet another blow with it's weapon. Selter takes 16 damage!

Despite the turn of events, Selter feels confident that he has protected the lorestone, until a grey blur of movement appears directly in front of him. The Quickling Yellow grins mischievously just before snatching the lorestone and streaking off with the prize! Another materializes just behind him, this one with such a maddened look, you feel sure it is none other than Cyflymder. Black He flings a dagger at the Nagaji druid, but it misses the mark and bounces harmlessly off the center stone beside him. He crows, "You won't rob me of my victory that easily, O scaled one!"

One round down and the Party is up! Note that the Quicklings have a blur ability that grants them a 20% miss chance, feel free to roll it along with your attack.

Selter you would normally have gotten an AOO, but the yellow quickling used Acrobatics and beat your and Sithiss' CMD, sorry. No info on the Large creatures, but here is the info on the Quicklings.

Selter:
Few creatures can match the speed of a quickling. These malicious fey creatures delight in striking with blinding speed and accuracy, often killing their victims without ever fully revealing themselves; the victim simply spurts blood and falls over dead, with no witnesses to the quickling's deed. Though related to brownies and grigs, quicklings share none of their kin's generosity or merriment, choosing instead to live a life of cruelty and viciousness. Quicklings pride themselves on insults and brutality, and frequently stalk and harass their quarry until the victim gives up the chase. While quicklings are naturally invisible when motionless, they rarely contain themselves, and bob and twitch while standing and talking to other creatures. Quicklings hate every other race of creature, particularly elves, gnomes, and other kinds of fey. They barely tolerate their own kind, and rarely work together for longer than a few weeks.
Quickling stand just over 2-1/2 feet tall and weigh 15 pounds.

Rhanloi fires an acid arrow, but misses his mark. Darren rapid fires his arrows, but only strikes with the second. Reiko appears out of nowhere and deals a punishing sneak attack to one of the Large creatures. Selter has better luck with his acid attack, striking the filching quickling who made off with the lorestone. Sithiss sinks her fangs into the foe that dared to strike her master, coiling around it and squeezing the breath from it. Odo moves in, drawing an attack from the foe he threatens, but the armored halfling proves too difficult to strike.

Sandwiched between two enemies, the Green creature takes a step to give himself some breathing room and drops the halberd, drawing it's shortsword instead as it lashes back at the ninja. Reiko takes 9 damage.
Sithiss' victim struggles to break free, but does not seem to have the strength, looking severely weakened. Blue is disabled.
The thieving yellow quickling grows still, suddenly fading from view, lorestone and all. Cyflymder draws a minuscule rapier and strikes at the grappling snake, hitting his mark but dealing only a scratch. Sithiss takes 3 damage.
"You waste your breath, Gire was the last fey to dare to betray me!"
