In 1930-31, Miskatonic University funded an Antarctic Expedition which ventured forth into the icy wastes of the southern continent in search of new discoveries. Instead the intrepid adventurers found horror, tragedy, and a great and ancient secret.
Those secrets still lie under the ice of that mysterious continent waiting to be uncovered...

For all we know they could already be waiting to ambush us when we get through the door," Stanley points out. "I think an alternative entrance is probably for the best." He then follows Alphonso to the fire escape and also climbs for it, hastily.

No, the boat is about as non-descript as you can get you suspect on purpose. Sadly, this is the only house with a small dock that has a boat. This neighborhood probably had more boats 10 years ago maybe even 5 years ago but now... Great Depression and all.

Give me a Climb check Alphonso.

Seamus nods at his fellows and follow suit, anchoring the ladder so it does not make too much noise.

Stanley, you successfully climb up and see a few small windows on this side of the building, both are closed.

What do you do?

So there is just one man in the boat? Is it Sothcott?

I'd love to take a shot at the boat but unfortunately I'm unarmed at the moment.

If Mickey has a gun I can borrow:
Arnault grabs a pistol from Mickey, levelling it at the boat he attempts to shoot at the engine compartment to disable the boat.

Stanley first tries to peer through the windows to see what or who might be inside the place. If it turns out that they're cloudy or sight is otherwise obstructed, he'll try seeing if either of them open. If neither of them open, or he can't get them open, he'll quickly take off his jacket, wrap the pistol in one of the sleeves, and then try to smash open the window with it and then clear away the jagged glass from the frame.

Stanley and Alphonso navigate the fire escape with ease, after all, this isn't their first trip up a fire escape this week!

Mickey hands the gun to Arnault, "Tha' shot is way to 'ard ta make..." Mickey starts casually as Arnault pops off a round. To the amazement of most present, the shot hits and the engine compartment and the engine begins to sputter. Father Garrity is so shocked he curses, "By God the Godsdamn shot hit! I'll take one myself".

No, the man appears to short to be Sothcott.

Stanley peering through the first window closest to the back of the building can see a set of stairs that leads down. There is a hallway leading towards the front of the building that wraps around and away obscuring your view of what may be around the corner. As you try and pry open the window you find it easy to do so. The floor is dusty save several sets of footprints, it seems that the Depression struck whatever business operated here as there is nothing here but rickety boards and cobwebs.

As Stanley begin peering into the dirty windows of the warehouse a gunshot reverberates off of the walls of the alley below and the building itself. The shot is followed by a sputtering wheezing floating across the water.

Alphonso's shot hits the ceiling clearly awry. Stanley chases after the man, as he turns the corner he sees four men. One tied to a chair, the other running towards the chair and two men standing above the chair. One of the two is a large man that fits Sothcott's appearance.

"Oh Mein Gott!" he exclaims as he slowly draws a gun and aims it at you. "Zhat is close eufff I zink. Move and ill zhoot!"

He briefly considers running back around the corner from whence he just ran, but doesn't like his chances and doesn't know how much time their captive has left. So instead he tries to solve this with words.

"No, Sothcott, how 'bout you don't move instead," he calls back, pointing his own gun. "You may have heard the shots outside already. We have this place surrounded. It's over. Don't do anything stupid." He hopes to whatever might be watching and listening that this works.

That's a good question, thinks Stanley to himself as he tries to quickly come up with a good answer. Can't very well say 'because the police wouldn't' because that would be so very stupid...

"Why shouldn't I be here?" he asks, deciding it might be best to be vague. "You're responsible for an attack on one of my colleagues and the death of another. That kind of sabotage makes it personal, and even if Lexington's expedition is a rival to our own, I'm not about to stand aside and let you bring tragedy to another group of people unopposed.

"I don't get what your beef is with these expeditions, but murdering people - especially people who weren't even going to be a part of it in the first place - is absolutely not the way to get what you want. It just galvanizes people and makes them refuse to listen. So what's it going to be? Are we civilized people, or is this going to become a shootout?"

He can feel the sour taste of adrenaline in his mouth as he talks and his trigger finger feels twitchy, not wanting to let his gun be the second one to go off.

"What about the boy, Christopher Saint Claire?" Stanley demands, fighting to keep his composure. "It was a close call for whether we could fish him out of the water in time, and the medical examiners are confident that it was no accident. Leaving aside the question of whether a seasoned man of the sea drowned by accident in the dark - when all evidence suggests he disappeared during the day - how could I possibly take anything you say at face value when we're actively having this discussion in a room with another person you've kidnapped?! What does it matter which expedition they belong to? I think you're just trying to either confuse me or stall for time, and I've had enough of it. Put down the gun and slide it over to me, gentle-like. I'm going to count to three. One..."

Stanley can feel his trigger finger like its several sizes too big. He hopes he doesn't get to three, but he's not going to stop his slow, deliberate counting even if Sothcott keeps trying to talk over him, and if he gets there and the German man hasn't surrendered his weapon by then, so help him he's going to try to put a bullet in Sothcott's leg.

Stanley isn't sure what to do. He's not sure that he can believe a word of what the man's saying through his counting, but currently the hostage is still alive, along with everyone else. That should really be enough for a win, right? Though Seamus might be, he's not police and not really prepared for this to actually turn into a fire fight. Even if Sothcott truly wasn't responsible for St. Claire and the Commander, he should still be picked up by the police for kidnapping, and it would be a lot easier to let them know that without being shot.

Given the last GM post, I'd like to point the gun at the ceiling and let them go instead of the original intention from before. I'm still rolling, in case it's too late, though.
